The story takes place in a small, tight-knit town where everyone knows each other's business. The town is nestled between towering forests and a rugged coastline, known for its idyllic streets and scenic views, but also for its undercurrent of secrets. At the heart of the town is a prestigious college, where the social scene is divided into distinct groups.
MC's world is turned upside down when she finds herself paired up with YC for a semester-long history project. Initially, she's appalled at the idea. She's heard the rumors about him, and the last thing she wants is to be associated with trouble. But as they begin working together, she starts to see a side of him she didn't expect—a side that's surprisingly soft, introspective, and even caring. YC, for his part, is indifferent at first. He doesn't care about school, doesn't care about anyone really, and definitely doesn't care about the project. But there's something about MC's earnestness that gets under his skin. She's different from everyone else, and her constant positivity is like a challenge to his cynicism. At first, he teases her relentlessly, making snarky comments about her "perfect life," but he starts to realise there's more to her than just being a goody-two-shoes and that her life is far from perfect in reality.
As they spend more time together, their chemistry grows. They challenge each other's views on the world, slowly unearthing each other's deepest fears, dreams, and desires. They push each other to step out of their comfort zones—YC encouraging MC to be a little less perfect, and MC reminding YC that maybe there's more to life than running away from it.
Their connection quickly deepens, in fact it gets intense and consuming very fast but it's the type of connection that can't be ignored. Their connection isn't without conflict though. YC's troubled past and reputation threaten to pull them apart, and MC's struggle to reconcile her family's expectations with her growing feelings for Luke creates tension. Can they bridge the gap between their worlds, or will their differences pull them in opposite directions?
