In this thread, my miscellaneous superhero-setting OCs. First section is for the heroines (collectively, the Sentinelles), second section is for the baddies.

mmRaw.png

Secret ID: Haley Byrne, Ph.D

Popular moniker: "The Star-Spangled Lass with the Ass"

Powers: Miss Meteor is quite durable, even by superhuman standards, and possesses extraordinarily powerful tactile telekinesis that she uses to achieve super strength and flight.

Weaknesses/Limitations: Her tactile TK is unusable if she's not wearing her tiara. Mitigated by the fact that her TK effects it too, making it extremely difficult to remove unless she's somehow incapacitated already. But with it gone, she's no more dangerous than a normal woman (though she remains highly durable).

While her tactile TK makes her effectively immune to conventional projectiles, it doesn't do anything to defend against non-physical attacks, like tasers or extreme temperatures. She's still far more resistant to such attacks than most superhumans, but there is an upper limit.

Her telekinesis is more limited by her mind than the object's weight; something that's sufficiently large (say, on the scale of a skyscraper) or exceedingly intricate could easily prove harder to move than something than a simple sphere of much higher mass.

Her TK cannot effect herself; if she wants to fly, for instance, she has to move the clothes she's wearing (or something she's holding onto). It's also useless against something she can't touch.

Spoiler-free Bio: Dr. Byrne is a linguistics professor who was a huge fan of comic books (and superheroines in particular). She's fluent in several languages, some of them extinct, and has an irrepressibly optimistic personality.

(I.O.U. one image reference here. Ghost-white skin tone and long curly silver hair with black-and-orange attire that's an homage to halloween and steampunk (Screampunk, if you will) )

Secret ID: Sonia Rushing

Powers: Hallow automatically projects her astral self while sleeping. While doing so she can fly, become intangible, and manipulate shadows to some extent; she feeds on fear around her.

Weaknesses/Limitations: If something makes her wake up, the astral copy and its shadow immediately vanish.

If something makes her afraid, her powers might start turning against her.

The projection can only get so far away from Sonia herself.

Wards and charms meant to keep bad dreams away effect her astral projection too.

Since she is a more direct expression of Sonia's subconscious, Hallow's particularly vulnerable to subliminals. Bimbofication, for instance, will turn her normally black-and-orange motif towards pink.

Spoiler-free Bio: Sonia's a fashion designer who loves Halloween. After getting her powers, she's learned how to quickly fall asleep anywhere. Mostly glad to be a superheroine, but misses having a distinct sleep schedule.

(I.O.U. one image reference here. Olive-coloured skin with dark green hair and eyes, slightly pointed ears. Grey-and-lighter-green kunoichi attire )

Secret ID: Yuki Yanagi

Powers: As a dryad transplanted to Japan long ago, she has more than a century of training in ninjutsu as well as access to the nature magics that are her birthright, giving her some control over nearby plants.

Weaknesses/Limitations: Very attached to her tree, spiritually. If that's threatened, she's in a lot of trouble.
Spending a long time without sunlight weakens her.

Needs CO2 as badly as animals need O2.

Can't generate plant life from nothing, even if she can help it grow in otherwise inhospitable settings.

Spoiler-free Bio: Yuki was the leader of a ninja clan dedicated to defending the wilds of Japan-- after a particularly intense encounter compromised their sanctuary, their group has disbanded and she uprooted (literally) to move to America; now that she's there, she focuses on protecting the people and plants of her new home.

(I.O.U. one image reference here. Pink-skinned, long-eared alien with a smooth tail and long hair, wearing approximately regal sci-fi garb )

Secret ID: Princess Ylixirra (Ylix for short)

Powers: Conjures linked portals between two points nearby her; she can move one or both without much effort. Has a few other sci-fi gadgets from the Eigarian empire.

Weaknesses/Limitations: Needs to be able to see what she's doing in order to place her portals accurately.

Portals can't be moved while something's in the process of passing through.

Spoiler-free Bio: Ylix was the princess of the Eigarian Empire before she and their military had a disagreement on how to use the portal technology she helped test. Shenanigans ensued, and the portal technology became integrated into her directly. She escaped and is hiding out on Earth, trying to do some good while hopefully avoiding the notice of those that would like to reclaim the lost princess (or those that simply hate the empire)

ma'at_montage.png

Secret ID: Ahmose of Waha'sis

Powers: Lunar energy blasts, alchemy-enhancing khopeshes, flight, durability. Clairvoyance via moonlight that also sees through illusions and deceptions. Speaks every language on Earth via divine translation.

Weaknesses/Limitations: Draws strength from the Moon; on a full moon she might be nigh-unstoppable, but on a new moon she doesn't get much power to work with and is limited to what overflow she was able to store. Similar rules apply during the daytime.

Spoiler-free Bio: Ahmose was the high priestess of the Egyptian moon god (Khemat here, not Khonshu) and ruler of the city of Waha'sis; cataclysm struck and her city was destroyed as she was turned to stone for millenia. In the modern day, the curse was recently undone, and she once more took up her ancient charge: to teach people about Khemat, and to be her shield for the helpless.

(I.O.U. one image reference here. Full-body dark catsuit with a harness that attaches to twin tonfas, each with a feathered motif. Her mask/visor resembles a bird's beak)

Secret ID: Adriana Astor

Powers/Gear: Extensive self-defense training, personally-designed bulletproof tonfas with inbuilt grappling system that significantly enhances her mobility. Advanced bullet-resistant fibers in suit protect as well as kevlar while being much more flexible.

Weaknesses/Limitations: Without her stuff, she's a normal human, albeit one that's pretty good at martial arts.

Spoiler-free Bio: The adopted daughter of a weapons magnate, Adriana was taught to defend herself from a young age and excelled in every discipline she was exposed to. She was also taking courses in engineering to try to take over the family business before learning of its ties to organized crime; now she uses gear and tech she reclaimed to try to right the wrongs she's pretty sure her father was unaware of.

(I.O.U. one image reference here. Gold, silver and purple colour scheme with lots of metal armor and glowing lights. Also, big metal wings with sparks arcing between the feathers like on a Jacob's ladder )

Secret ID: Nicole Teague

Popular moniker: Arc-Angel

Powers: Her biomechanical-hybridized mind can directly interface with technology, and her genius intellect was sped up by being integrated with an advanced computing cluster. Her mechanical body is able to become nigh-indestructible when properly powered, and she can launch precisely targeted electric blasts via nanite swarms. Said nanites can also repair any damage she does take, given time.

Weaknesses/Limitations: The direct link between her mind and technology goes both ways. As a leading expert in digital security it's still not easy to hack her, but it's more doable than with the non-robot-heroines.

Strong magnetic fields don't feel great.

The nanites that repair her and help with the lightning struggle against sustained gusts of wind.
The energy needed to maintain the nigh-invulnerable state of her armor is considerable, and her own reserves are finite.

Spoiler-free Bio: Nicole Teague is the C.E.O. of Teague Technologies and its lead inventor. She's the primary cash donor to the Sentinelles, having also donated the building they use for their headquarters. Generally quiet and introverted, many assume that her nature had changed after the events that turned her into a gynoid; in reality, she's mostly just glad she doesn't have to put on the faux gregarious facade that she used to for talk shows and the like.

(I.O.U. one image reference here. Think red-skinned succubus with black bikini armor covered in chains. Small horns poking out of medium-length black hair (with pink highlight), and a blindfold over which are twin pink flames that serve as her eyes )

Secret ID: Grace Evans

Powers: Power and durability increases as she gets more turned on. Can make constructs of magic lust-fire, usually a whip. Magic sight lets her see sentient beings that are capable of lust (and what turns them on, if she focuses). Can change her appearance via illusions, to an extent. Can influence the minds of those attracted to women, though she usually hates doing so. Without the proper wards, will drain vitality from anyone she kisses or has intercourse with.

Weaknesses/Limitations: Anything that harms demons (holy water, etc.) can effect her.

She gets stronger as she gets more turned on, but also loses self-control; after a certain limit, she will lose focus on fighting.

She can't remove the armor or chains that bind her on her own.

If the blindfold were removed, and she made eye-contact with someone with her own eyes, she would be compelled to obey that person (for a time period TBD).

Spoiler-free Bio: Grace was a police detective who got a little too close to a gang with friends in low places that trapped her in armor infused with the essence of a succubus. She now grapples with using her powers for good, and trying to keep careful control over the fires blazing within.

__snowLeopard_Snooping.png

Secret ID: Jessica Collins

Powers: Cat-like agility and reflexes. Some cryokinesis, usually used to make icy claws. Light super strength, just above peak human.

Weaknesses/Limitations: She only has so much capacity to absorb heat; if she gets too hot (literally or figuratively) she won't be able to use her cryokinesis.

Spoiler-free Bio: Sierra was given powers by a mad geneticist, whom she resents for giving her the ears and tail. Hates cat jokes.

(I.O.U. one image reference here. Think casino-themed bunnygirl with blonde hair and a long scarf or two )

Secret ID: Sophie Hale

Popular Moniker: Gust Bunny

Powers: Wind manipulation with an added side effect: her winds of fortune also shift probabilities around, making her luckier or giving enemies terrible luck.

Weaknesses/Limitations: No air means no wind.

Overusing her capacity for shifting probabilities gives a new meaning to 'pushing one's luck'. Sooner or later, the luck will run out.

Spoiler-free Bio: Sophie's abilities were also unlocked by the mad geneticist, though she doesn't mind the bunny ears and tail as much as Snow Leopard minds hers. Sophie leans into the bunnygirl persona to get her foes to drop their guard.

(I.O.U. one image reference here. Bright pink and light-blue color scheme, including long pink hair and butterfly-esque mask. Celtic tattoos on her arms. Thigh-high stockings, waist-cape, and corset are all pink and blue. Fairy wings and bow are made of solid light )

Secret ID: "Celia Hawthorne"

Powers: Magic bow she can summon with a thought, capable of launching a variety of magic arrows. Can fly, and can shift in size between normal human and barbie doll.

Weaknesses/Limitations: Cold-forged iron negates her powers, both as shielding from the arrows and entirely if used as restraints.

Her word is her bond; can't break a promise.

If anyone knew her true name, they could use it to compel her to obey their commands.

Spoiler-free Bio: "Celia" was a lawyer until a fateful car wreck threw off her life plan. Long story short, she got married to an archfey queen and sent to represent the Seelie Court in the big city. She's unable to curse, much to her consternation.

(I.O.U. one image reference here. Still mulling over several options for her appearance )

Secret ID: Kori Clark

Powers: Time manipulation via gadgets; other future tech

Weaknesses/Limitations: Her use of the time-manipulating gadgets has to be very measured, lest she risk causing a paradox.

Said gadgets also have limitations on how often they can be used.

Spoiler-free Bio: Kori's from the distant future, being part of an agency meant to regulate time travel. Having burnt out the long-jumping capabilities of her gear chasing a perp, she's making the best of being stuck in one of her favorite eras; the age of Superheroines.

Now for the bad girls!
issue2CoverNoText.png

Secret ID: (Not Publicly Known)

Powers: Anemone's hair is prehensile, and sensitive enough to take someone's pulse. She can drain energy from anyone caught in her hair, enhancing her own strength, speed, and durability proportionally for a time. The more powerful the target, the greater the effects. Anemone can also breathe underwater, and can share this gift via a kiss.

Weaknesses/Limitations: If she hasn't absorbed energy lately, she's no more powerful than a normal human.

Her hair can be cut, which is agonizing for her. And though her hair grows much faster than ordinary people, it can take a few days to reach its usual length after being sliced.

Spoiler-free Bio: The second in command of the K.R.A.K.E.N. terrorist organization, Anemone serves as its heaviest-hitting enforcer. Her penchant of draining the life force of her own troops for a boost ensures that she's just as feared in the organization as she is by the outside.

direMontage.png

Secret ID: Blake Dyer, Ph.D

Powers: Brilliant geneticist, accomplished chemist and computer scientist. Designs and creates mutant creatures in her lab, and managed on two separate occasions to unlock superpowers (see Snow Leopard and Windfall).

Weaknesses/Limitations: Anything that would work on a normal human would work on her.

She has an obsession with her nemesis/object of infatuation, Snow Leopard, that often clouds her judgment.

Spoiler-free Bio: Blake Dyer wanted to save the world from climate change; one teeny-tiny incident involving some unintentionally giant wolves escaping her unsanctioned but mostly safe lab and wreaking havoc downtown got her branded a supervillain. She took on the news' moniker of "Dr. Dire" with pride, vowing to be the monster they said she was.

(I.O.U. one image reference here. Think classic hollywood elegance, noir-style dress with a thigh-high slit, feather boa, and whatnot)

Secret ID: Holly Whitman

Powers: Spellcaster who taps into 'movie magic'. Can summon a stunt double to do her fighting (or take the fall), can use green-screens to magically change her (or her opponent's) surroundings, and miscellaneous other "special effects"

Weaknesses/Limitations: Many of her spells are based in illusion; if you can see through it, it stops effecting you.

She doesn't use mana to cast, but something more ephemeral; "budget". She earns this by supplicating herself (or unwilling guests) on her 'Sofa of Sorcery' (casting couch) to the attentions of lusty spirits. If she runs out of budget, all ongoing effects immediately turn off.

Spoiler-free Bio: Holly was an aspiring starlet who was desperate to make it big in Hollywood, hoping to eventually direct as well as act. When things didn't immediately go her way, she sought answers in dark magic... nowadays, she uses her spellcasting for personal enrichment, and for making adult movies to sell of heroines in peril.

(I.O.U. one image reference here. Think knight armor with purple motif? Still working on the concept )

Secret ID: Gwendolyn Morgan

Powers: Handmaiden can create telepathically-controlled hands/arms to sprout out of any object or surface she touches. Fighting her in the street, for instance, could soon have a heroine grabbed by an armada of asphalt-hands.

Weaknesses/Limitations: The projected hands are only as solid/strong as the base material; while her power technically works with liquids or gases, the constructed hands aren't sturdy enough to move anything.

The hands can't come from too small a surface, and similarly there must be enough volume of material to support however many hands she manifests.

She can't use her power on a living organism-- no hands from a tree that's alive, but a fallen log/wooden planks are fair game.

The hands can feel like her flesh-and-blood ones, and if something is powerful enough to destroy them it's not pleasant.

Spoiler-free Bio: A big fan of Arthurian myths and ren faire hobbyist, Gwen happened to acquire a shield that, unbeknownst to her, was touched by the fey. She never meant to go on a crime spree, but well...

Things got out of hand.

(I.O.U. one image reference here. Think "provocative paramilitary", with long blonde hair and mirrored sunglasses. Also has artificer gloves that mostly only cover her thumb and index finger. )

Secret ID: Elizabeth "Liz" Rice

Powers: Her magic-enhanced gloves allow her to cast rays of intense heat from her fingers; at her discretion, the heat can be literal (sparking fires, melting metal) or figurative, driving targets wild with lust.

Weaknesses/Limitations: Without the gloves, she's got no way to focus her power. Doing so anyway is unreliable at best, and dangerous at worst.

She doesn't have unlimited energy. She owes her patron certain favors in exchange for the power to continue her life of crime.

Spoiler-free Bio: Liz was something of a celebrity and big name around town until the emergence of superheroines. With the spotlight now off of her, she went to extreme lengths to get powers to become a heroine herself... but ultimately, her selfish nature meant that she crossed the line into villainy before long.

(I.O.U. one image reference here. Dark skin, bright green slitted eyes, and black/green tattered cloth robes. Serpent-shaped staff, definitely not a knockoff of Jafar's. )

Secret ID: Aspen Delgado (sort of)/ Iaret ibnat'Apep (If you speak Arabic and can help me improve this translation, that'd be great!)

Powers: Can shape-shift her legs into a serpent's tail and back. Has two gaze attacks; one hypnotizes, and the other petrifies (which she can reverse if she wills it). Can magically 'shed' any injuries she sustains. Can channel snake spirits to animate serpentine objects-- chains, ropes, power cords, etc. Additionally, living snakes obey her commands.

Weaknesses/Limitations: Requires her staff to channel the spirits into snake-like objects.

Being the high priestess of Apep, Iaret doesn't necessarily get on well with sunlight (the domain of her patron's enemy, Ra)

Being cold-blooded, she's sluggish in cold temperatures.

Spoiler-free Bio: Aspen Delgado was an archaeologist excavating the ruins near where Ma'at had been found; unfortunately, she picked up the wrong cursed artifact and became a vessel for the return of Apep's high priestess, Iaret. Newly returned to the land of the living, she's set to resume her mission to tear down the old world order and make herself a new kingdom in Apep's name.

(I.O.U. one image reference here. Same alien species as Warpweaver above, but add in a bio-organic suit of armor. )

Secret ID: 'Princess' Delta

Powers: Her suit was one of the last remaining Eigarian bioarmors; it gives her immense strength, and can quickly adapt itself to weather whatever threatens its user. It can also mimic claws, tendrils, and the like for weapons.

Weaknesses/Limitations: The suits were discontinued for a reason; over time, they learn more and more and eventually might become sentient themselves. Even before crossing that threshold, they have a tendency to skew the behaviour of their wearers towards animalistic impulses like aggression and lust.

Adapting to one danger can create a momentary vulnerability to something else, since it can't adapt to everything at once. Building up amazing heat dispersal techniques to deal with fire might make it momentarily sensitive to the cold, for instance.

Spoiler-free Bio: While not technically a member of the royal family, Delta was a lifelong friend and companion to Princess Ylix... and may have helped her initial escape. To redeem herself, she was tasked with hunting down the lost princess at all costs... and promised that, upon her return, she'd be adopted into the family as the crown princess while Ylix answered for her transgressions.

(I.O.U. one image reference here. Elegant woman with Indian features; miscellaneous very colourful garments denoting royalty from the subcontinent.)

Secret ID: N/A

Powers: Ancient martial artist/disembodied spirit who mastered Qi and its many uses. Can manipulate the chakras of others to apply various effects. Her spirit can, given time, evict someone else's to claim control of their body... this doesn't necessarily kill the individual in question, but it might if they're left without a body for long enough.

Weaknesses/Limitations: While her spirit can strike on its own while tethered to a body, it cannot do much without a nearby unoccupied body to tether to.

Her Qi-strikes aren't as effective against things that don't have chakras, like robots.

Spoiler-free Bio: Shakti was a ruler of a kingdom that predated even the Rigveda, using her immense martial arts mastery to rule with an iron fist. When she was eventually deposed, she was imprisoned for life; even there, she maintained her training, learning to maintain her spiritual essence long after her original body failed.

Having found a new body for herself (though she misses her beautiful blue skin) she's out to rebuild her kingdom. Along the way, she's amassing a repository of women to possess for 'style' purposes; she especially prizes the ones that have superpowers.

(I.O.U. one image reference here. Not sure on a direction for her costume, yet; I just liked the pun. )

Secret ID: Alexis Little

Powers: Size Queen can grow in size, rivaling a skyscraper at full height. Her strength (and mass) increase proportionally to her size.

Weaknesses/Limitations: Being big takes energy; the larger she grows, the less time she can stay at that size.

Spoiler-free Bio: Alexis initially lived down to her last name, standing at 4' 9" until her powers kicked in. Who's laughing now, top shelf? Who's laughing now?

(I.O.U. one image reference here. Black/dark grey leather catsuit with gas mask and visor )

Secret ID: Ava Nessens

Powers: Aerokinetic control over gases, skills of a master thief

Weaknesses/Limitations: She has fine control over gases, but can't generate much force; she can make a smoky duplicate of herself easily, but wouldn't be able to move anything heavier than a baseball with a gust of wind. Similarly, she's not going to be able to create a vacuum to choke someone out.

She sometimes struggles with completely translucent gases, since she gets little feedback by way of feeling.

Spoiler-free Bio: Eva uses her powers to augment her skills as a thief, making smoke screens and decoys to distract and blind security while she makes off with the good stuff. Not as malicious as many of the other villains, but won't hesitate to fight if cornered.

(I.O.U. one image reference here. Go look at Ma'at, and kind of invert the color scheme a bit. )

Secret ID: N/A

Powers: A manifestation of the dark side of the moon, Ta'am has all of Ma'at's powers and most of her knowledge, but is strongest during a new moon and weakest during the full moon.

Weaknesses/Limitations: Same as Ma'at.

Spoiler-free Bio: Ta'am was born of an occult ritual during a lunar eclipse that manifested Ma'at's dark side; while Ma'at is kind and benevolent, Ta'am is cruel and selfish. Really, really hates her goody-goody progenitor.

(I.O.U. one image reference here. Think 'Ice Fairy' with an impractically big sword. )

Secret ID: As if she'd share her true name with anyone outside of the Unseelie Court...

Powers: Fae physiology, flight. Very skilled with ice magics.

Weaknesses/Limitations: As with all fae, she's vulnerable to cold-forged iron; being in contact with the metal can shut down her powers.

Spoiler-free Bio: The Winter Warden is something of a counterbalance to Ionadai; once the city came under her protection, they became bound by fey law as well. TWW is the primary enforcer of said laws and regulations... for instance, it's illegal for beautiful women to dress too conservatively, since the fae prize beauty and believe it should be shared. The punishment for breaking this law is to be frozen in the nude for all to appreciate, and TWW is happy to enact the sentencing.
