Hello everyone! Today I am reaching out because I had an idea I wanted a partner for. Specifically, I am seeking to be a Game Master (GM) for a plot I've been thinking of for quite some time. Let's get the housekeeping out of the way.
I am Salt, I am a writer with ~5 years of experience with ERP, and I have been RP'ing since a young age in one form or the other--typically in the form of MMOs and Tabletop games. I write in 3rd person. For this roleplay I am looking for a partner playing a male character. The gender of my partner doesn't really matter to me -- I am a guy myself. I write around 200-500 words per post, going higher or lower for things such as set-pieces or fast-paced dialogue or action.

I hope that wall of art might give you some idea of what I am looking for. I want to run something for you in a sci-fi setting. This would be a more grungy kinda sci-fi setting, so no laser guns or super sleek looking ships. My main inspirations for this are 40k, Starbound (more specifically the exploration aspect and some of the modding scene), Signalis, Alien, and a smattering of different anime and anime inspired things.
>YOU, THE PLAYER
I am looking for a variety of qualities in a player. For one thing, I am looking for someone who is literate, and can write decently sized posts at acceptable quality. I am also looking for someone who is going to be active -- allow me to clarify this. I am looking for people who are not going to lose interest quickly -- This is supposed to be a long-term plot. If you have a job or busy home life that keeps you from posting for several days, I am not holding that against you -- So long as you remain interested in the RP. If it gets to the point where it becomes obvious you just aren't feeling it anymore -- no hard feelings, but I'm going to call it there. We'll pick it back up when you're feeling into it again!
I also want a partner that's communicative. I want to know what you want, and if there's something you don't like you should feel free to speak it. A negotiable partner would be appreciated as well -- I'm pretty accepting most of the time, I'll probably give you what you want a decent chunk of the time if you ask for it, but in the case that we do come to an impasse It would be so nice to have a partner who doesn't immediately resort to My way or the Highway for a change. We can both have our cake and eat it!
Finally, be someone who is generally story-based in their approach. Don't get me wrong, smut is definitely a part of this RP that will happen, and happen quite a bit, but there will be more story than there is smut. If you view the story parts as unenjoyable slogs until you get to your next smut scene, this probably isn't the plot for you.
>YOU, THE CHARACTER
Your Character is a Drifter. It's up to you what this entails. They could be a scavenger, a mercenary, a vagabond, or a fugitive; Whatever floats your boat, but the idea behind them is that they have a ship and they fly around the universe looking for things to do and adventures to have.
For how your character looks, that is up to you, but I prefer them to be young men -- 16 to 22. This is because I think certain elements of the story and world shine brighter with a younger protagonist. In terms of appearance do whatever you wish. In terms of personality, I'm pretty flexible there. Try to avoid two things though --
Extremely cheery protagonists. This doesn't mean that your character needs to be a sad fuck all of the time, but the setting is a bit dreary and sad things happen, a character who is completely unfazed and cheery despite it all would break the immersion. More Makoto Naegi, less spongebob.
Untouchable Badasses. Now, your character can be stoic, in-fact it probably is a good idea, and your character can be a badass too, but your character is part of the world, and if all the things that happen wash off of him like water -- It's gonna get pretty boring pretty fast. The moments when Alex Murphy or Snake Plissken were kicking ass were the shit, but there were also moments where we could tell they were affected by the things happening to them.
Other than that, go crazy with your character's background and personality. The one thing I will say is that combat is going to be a thing that happens a lot. While your character doesn't need to have any kind of military or combat background, they should know how to defend themselves when push comes to shove.
>THE WORLD
So, I am workshopping ideas for the world still, and a lot of it will be hammered out as I RP -- but I do have some ideas as primer.
The game takes place in the Chornskal Veil, a sector of galactic space on the back-line of combat between the Terran Empire and the Nation of Yith. Both the Terrans and the Yithites are human governments, with the Empire of Terra centered on the human homeworld of Terra and the Nation of Yith is centered on the planet Yith in the Eagle Nebula. The Chornskal Veil is something of a backwater -- most of the planets are smaller colonies, with a couple of hive cities or forge worlds scattered about. Thus neither side sees fit to send too many of their troops there, and military action on either side is mostly raiding action, with the occasional push for territory.
Aliens do exist in the setting, and they come in two forms -- Relatively humanlike or completely removed from human shape. Aliens are also generally outnumbered by humans. This is not due to any aggressive action (not that it never happens) but more to do with the fast reproduction inherent to humans.
We will begin on Malachite, a Forge World in the Chornskal Veil, where depending on your character, they are either finalizing repairs or first obtaining (or stealing) their ship.
> THE GAME
This can be done either on-site through PMs or by discord -- Either way works fine for me.
This is planned to be free-form. I am amenable to the idea of using a system for this, but I do not know what I would use, so the game is free-form by default unless you have something in mind.
