The city hums beneath the weight of ceremony. Today is Auction Day—an event equal parts tradition and theatre, held only once per quarter in the marble-shadowed halls of the Exchange. Women of rank arrive in their finery, eyes sharp and lips red with power, ready to bid, barter, and bargain for the next addition to their households.

I arrive late—intentionally. My reputation precedes me, after all, and punctuality is for the desperate. I take my seat at the front, flanked by my assistants, and survey the floor. Muscle, grace, obedience... potential. Some will be broken, some will be gifted. But one—if I choose right—might just earn a collar that never comes off.

My gaze lingers on a new offering. Tall, proud posture despite his restraints. Eyes that haven’t learned how to lower themselves yet. Oh, darling... this one might just be a challenge.

And I do love a challenge.
