Oh boy, am I nervous! It's been a really long time since I've written with a partner, and I'll admit—I'm feeling a bit shy about dipping my toes back in. I'm hoping someone out there finds this idea interesting, or even just likes the vibe enough to brainstorm with me. I'm really nervous to post this.

A Cold Loyalty

"He was supposed to kill her.
She was supposed to be broken.
But somewhere between pain and survival,
they found something Hydra never expected—
each other."

Quick Info
Style:
Third-person, past tense, multi-paragraph
Reply Pace: I'm flexible and understanding, life comes first! I can be a bit slow due to real life. (I own a business and am in college.)
Visuals: I enjoy adding pictures to posts
Adult Themes: Yes, mature/dark content welcome with communication. I prefer "fade to black" intimacy (read: sex) scenes.
Preferences: M/F, character-driven stories with a balance of action and emotion

M/F: One-on-one; I'd like my partner to be comfortable playing multiple male characters. Not always at the same time, though. I will also be playing multiple female characters.

Plot: After the collapse of SHIELD, Hydra scrambled to rebuild—led now by the cold and calculating Madame Hydra. With Rumlow (Crossbones) at her side and a new generation of enhanced operatives in the works, Hydra is more dangerous than ever.

Enter Karina: a seemingly ordinary woman with an extraordinary gift. She's an empath—but not the soft, emotional support type. Her power intensifies through touch, allowing her to forge deep, two-way empathic bonds. With the right person, she can sense their emotions, pain, and even danger—and they can feel hers in return. Hydra sees her as a potential weapon... or a leash.

Meanwhile, Hydra's crown jewel—the Winter Soldier—has gone rogue. When Bucky Barnes emerges from cryo, he escapes before his handlers can reprogram him again. But freedom doesn't last. As Karina is quietly "let go" from her job under suspicious circumstances, the Winter Soldier is dispatched with one goal: eliminate her.

Only... something doesn't go according to plan.

The bond Karina unknowingly forms with Bucky begins to stir something buried deep within him. She's terrified, especially when she hears the infamous "shutdown phrase" uttered in her presence—but the man holding the gun to her head isn't as empty as Hydra hoped. Instead of following orders, he hesitates. And that moment changes everything.

Forced on the run together, Karina and Bucky must unravel why Hydra wants her so badly—and what they've already done to him. Standing in their way are Madame Hydra, the brutal and charming Rumlow, and two twisted experiments: Sin (Red Skull's daughter, with the ability to conjure and control fire) and your character, Sin's volatile counterpart—once bonded by shared suffering, now loyal only to Hydra.

As their connection grows stronger, Bucky and Karina find themselves fighting not only for their survival, but for a future they never imagined. And just when freedom seems within reach… Karina discovers she's pregnant. Hydra doesn't just want her powers anymore.

They want her child.

Sequel potential? Absolutely.

Extra Info:
Ideally, I'd like my partner to be a bit familiar with the story of the Winter Soldier. Also, the other character that I might possibly need my partner to play; Rumlow. Canonically, he is horribly scarred due to being trapped under falling rubble when the SHIELD HQ building went down. After recovering, he wore a skull mask and went by the name Crossbones. But, for the purpose of this game, he manages to escape unscathed. The possible rape aspect of the game will revolve around him, not the Winter Soldier.

Karina Markova was born in an ordinary Russian town. She lived an ordinary life and excelled at her studies. In fact, she displayed such high intelligence that she was able to graduate when she was just 16 years old. Her plan was to study medicine in college.

However, during the summer of her high school graduation, her town was devastated by a massive flood. Karina found herself trapped in her house, the water quickly rising. She remembered the water overtaking each one of her senses before there was darkness.

The next thing Karina knew, she had woke up in the hospital and felt...different. She had been clinically dead for around 90 seconds. However, that wasn't the only thing that led to her feeling strange. She was "feeling" so much emotion, but none of it was hers. She could feel her parents' relief, the doctor's concern, the pain of the patient down the hall...

After she was released from the hospital, she hid herself in her room for many months in an effort to shut out everything she was feeling. She felt so overwhelmed, scared, and confused. Her grandmother was a huge help to Karina in figuring out how to navigate this new ability she found herself with.

As it turned out, her grandmother also possessed the same ability - empathy. It was something that the women in her family line could inherit, but only if they had a near-death experience at a young age. With the aid of her grandmother, Karina was eventually able to get a handle on her ability.

Time passed, and Karina finally felt able to go back into the world. It wasn't as difficult as she thought it would be. She managed to get into college and study medicine like she wanted. In fact, she was even able to graduate with honors.

Afterward, she was approached by a man in a suit. He told her he was impressed with her medical knowledge, and he offered her a well-paying position on a medical team. The only catch was that the position was in America. She would have her own place, and she could send money to her family. It sounded too good to be true, but she couldn't pass up the opportunity to put her skills to work and provide for her family. They weren't poor by any means, but they could certainly use a little help.

So, she accepted and was given three days to pack her belongings and whatever else she thought she needed. Three days later, she was starting her new job. It was...different; strange. She was part of a highly skilled medical team whose job it was to tend to...a person.

A man who looked to be somewhere in his late 20s, well-built, attractive - she had to admit - and a left arm made completely out of metal - it functioned just like a normal appendage. She didn't know much about it - that was the purpose of the technical medic. Her focus was to check for injuries and make sure "the Asset is in working order" - something her boss told her that stuck with her ever since.

Karina couldn't bring herself to call him that. He was a *human being*. She didn't know how he could be treated this way. However, she never brought up her thoughts for fear of losing her job and the money she was sending to her family. On the other hand, she didn't know how much longer she could keep her feelings in check - especially with her ability.

Each time he returned, he had new injuries: broken bones, fractures, bruises, and cuts. She would quietly whisper apologies as she tended to him, quiet enough that her co-workers wouldn't hear. However, nothing seemed to phase him. The same couldn't be said for Karina. Every touch took a toll on her. She could feel his pain, both physical and mental. She even started seeing things; memories, or rather fragments of memories every time she touched him. Nothing she saw made any sense to her. She wondered what his life was like before this. Is that what she was seeing? If it was...

Karina breathed a heavy sigh as she rubbed her temples. The hum of the various machines sounded more drone-like and was beginning to give her a headache. She took a drink of water from the nearby water cooler and threw the cup in the little trashcan next to it. Before she realized it, she was standing in front of the secure door that housed "the Asset".

When he wasn't out on a mission, he was kept in a frozen state - literally. He was sealed into a cryogenic tube. Karina had no idea how long this had gone on, nor did she know what was done with him before he went in and after he came out. There was so much secrecy around him, and Karina didn't like it. She felt like she was part of something...nefarious.

Karina looked around, making sure nobody was watching her, and swiped her badge across the pad to gain clearance to the room. The door slid open with a quiet "swoosh," and she stepped inside.

It was much colder than the rest of the building. She could faintly see her breath, and she wrapped her lab coat around herself a little tighter to keep warm. The door closed behind her, and she stared at the giant tube holding the man. A thin layer of ice covered most of the machine.

Karina felt her heart beat faster as she stepped closer to the tube. There was a window of sorts that allowed anyone to see the man as he was kept in his frozen slumber. She felt like a voyeur. Her gaze moved up the tube until it rested on the pane of glass that acted as a window, giving a clear view of his face - covered in small ice crystals.

She pressed her hand against the cold cryo tube and stared at the sleeping man. Even in his frozen state, Karina could still feel faint flickers of emotions and memories. She closed her eyes and let out a slow breath. As she stood there, something shifted in the air.

Karina opened her eyes and focused on the man. She studied his face, feeling something was...off. She took another breath and tried to concentrate on her heartbeat. Thump-thump, thump, thump-thump, thump... She furrowed her brow in confusion as she heard her heartbeat. There was an extra beat.

Before she could put the pieces together, the man's eyes snapped open - staring right at her. Karina gasped and stepped back from the tube. She could still see him through the glass, but he didn't look like he was moving.

A malfunction...? She wondered as she stepped closer to the tube again. When she placed her hand on the cold metal, she could hear the extra thump. It was coming from him. He was waking up!

Karina panicked and brought her attention to the console beside the cryo tube. She hit the emergency override button, and the tube started to open. It let out a hissing sound as machinery whirred to life, and the metal slid aside to reveal the frozen man - his eyes still open. An emergency alarm began to blare, but Karina barely registered it.

The tube was fully open now, and Karina slowly stepped back as she saw the man start to move. She had no idea what to do, and her heart was pounding like a jackhammer. Her back hit the wall, and she wished she could just melt into it and disappear.

What the hell am I supposed to do?!
