"Are you ready? It's about to drop!" Dave called out excitedly as he placed the popcorn bowl on the coffee table. He took a quick look around their shared living room. The blinds were closed, so no glare on the TV. Over head lights were off, but the lights in the kitchen just off the room were not. So as usual, enough light to see what they were doing, but not so much light it would overpower the TV...the large screen TV they'd hauled from his house, the perfect size for their apartment. Almost like a movie theater, he'd even got the surround sound working.
He took a glance at the table...cheese and crackers, popcorn, a two liter bottle of their favorite soda, and glasses complete with ice. Even better than a movie theater. And the couch he'd set up on the far wall was certainly more comfortable than any theater seats except the most expensive, and who could afford that? Not him on his salary, that was for sure. He'd even checked the internet connection...plenty of download speed for streaming. He didn't want any buffering. Not today. He could hardly believe his friend had gotten a role in a major TV show...maybe even a recurring role depending on fan reception, or so she'd said. Neither had dared voice the hope she might be a regular.
He hadn't taken nearly as much care with his appearance as he had the room, though. A Star Trek sweatshirt and Batman sweatpants were his TV watching ensemble, like usual. His close cropped black hair didn't require a comb, and he had showered this morning. Not due to any special preparations, it was simply what one did. He settled his 6'6" lanky body onto the couch and pressed the refresh button on the remote...still nothing. he checked his watch...two more minutes until the official release. "Don't think I'm going to wait for you to start it!" He warned her as he pressed the refresh button again despite the fact they had more than a minute left until the premier.
