The Macmillan Estate loomed in the distance, its crumbling stone walls barely visible in the eerie glow of the moon. The chill of the night air seemed to seep into Rose's bones as she stood at the entrance, her breath visible in the frigid silence. The ground beneath her feet was uneven, overgrown with weeds that tangled around her boots. Her team—Sabrina, the ever-determined camerawoman, and Athena, the calm and methodical audio tech—moved quietly behind her, their footsteps muffled by the thickening fog.
"Alright, we're here," Rose murmured, adjusting the straps of her backpack as she turned to face them. "This is where it happened—the Macmillan Coal Mining disaster. The place where dozens of men were trapped... killed in the collapse." She exhaled slowly, feeling the weight of the history pressing down on her. "They say the souls of the workers still haunt the estate. We're here to find out if that's true."

Sabrina clicked on the camera, the red light blinking to life, as she began recording. "Ready when you are, Rose," she whispered, her voice barely audible in the thick, oppressive silence.

Athena, holding a set of EVP equipment, gave a silent nod. The air felt heavier tonight, even more so than usual. Athena's breath was steady, but her eyes kept scanning the darkened windows of the decaying building, her senses on high alert.

Rose inhaled deeply, her heart thumping in her chest. "We'll start at the coal shaft. If anything's going to show up, it's there." She took a step forward, and with that, they ventured deeper into the forgotten estate.

The darkness seemed to swallow them whole as they entered the building. The old wood creaked beneath their weight, the air thick with dust and decay. As Rose's flashlight beam swept over the walls, she caught the faintest glimpse of old, faded names etched into the stone—workers who had never made it out.

She could feel it. The haunting presence. But whether it was the past or something more… she couldn't tell yet. "Bear traps?" Sabrina said looking around at the ones that were closed. "Be mindful of them…" Rose replied shining her flash light around.
