MC has been an obviously troubled teenager for some time now. She's impulsive, quick to action but slow to ration, and she's found herself caught up with the entirely wrong crowds. She's not a total lost cause though, just someone in need of a level-headed figure in her life.
That was exactly who YC seemed to be when she started babysitting for him. His presence often guided her the right way, whether that was giving her actual advice or simply just being around. What he couldn't seem to fix, however, was how easily influenced she had always been. It was hard to turn down a drink or a toke when he wasn't around, and so a cycle of MC's behavior would begin: where she would swear she was getting her life together, put on her best face for YC, but ultimately find herself in a mess nevertheless.
On the flip side of this, YC can't stop giving her more chances. He knows she's far from the person she seems to be, and he's desperate to help her realize that too. He's too lenient, but he can't help pandering to the odd connection he has with her despite her lack of progression.
Together, the two share a strong but unspoken tension. Its physical when they're near each other, like it could be cut with a knife or held in one's hand. They share lingering glances, touches that feel all too pointed, and at times it seems as though their conversations could run on for hours without end. Neither of them would ever directly mention this, though. After all, there was far too much to risk if either of them were wrong about this feeling.
Things come to a head one night, while MC is meant to be babysitting in YC's house. In reality, she's had one of her friends fill in for a bit, so she could go out for the evening instead. When YC pulls into a gas station late in the night, he notices someone familiar sitting out on the sidewalk. She's got an open beer, several more scattered around her, and a joint hanging off her bottom lip. It's MC. And she's with that awful crowd YC's grown to resent so much. He confronts her, both furious and concerned, and realizes that he's finally had enough of the games she continues to play with him.
From here, I think we could discuss a bit about what we actually want to happen. I envision thus far that he might decide he's going to at least take her down to the station to scare her a bit into behaving right. What he doesn't expect, is for her to be tipsy and belligerent. She makes it clear she's not going anywhere with him unless he actually arrests her… so that's just what he does.
On the ride from the gas station, YC is battling with himself whether he'll actually make good on his word. At a point, he pulls over onto an empty backroad and attempts to talk her down from her anger instead. One thing leads to another, and once the two are in a rather compromising position due to MC's reactiveness, tensions finally boil over. It's a split moment of weakness that both fall into, and before they know it they're making out in back of his cruiser. It doesn't take long before their dynamic starts to morph, and YC decides he's going to try teaching her a different way.
