i was on the road this weekend and unfortunately had to stop at a number of cursed-looking gas stations and rest stops in the middle of nowhere, but that got me to thinking a setting like that might make a fun RP!
except in the RP, this place is legitimately cursed. think "Hotel California" vibes, but different.
it's a truck stop in Death Valley, along a stretch of highway so long and straight and barren you might think you're hallucinating when you spot it on the horizon. most travelers blow past the place at 80mph, barely giving it a second glance. it's an unremarkable looking place, just a parking lot, an ancient diner, a gas pump, and a building with some showers for the odd trucker who stops in. all of it's probably sixty years old or more, slowly crumbling into disrepair. a place stopped in time... or almost.
"Mike's Diner & Truck Stop" a rusted-out sign proclaims. of the travelers who do stop here, most come and go unscathed, as long as they don't ask too many questions.... they are served burnt coffee and tepid porkchops by a mysterious young blonde woman, certainly not the eponymous Mike. she serves the travelers with a sad, soft smile on her cherry red lips. she moves with a slow, careful kind of grace, encumbered by a heavy pregnant belly. when asked how far along she is, or how long she's been working here, she invariably answers the same thing, in such a chillingly confident way that no one dares press her: "you wouldn't believe me if i told you."
i have some vague ideas about the lore of this place, but it does need some fleshing-out if you're into worldbuilding. basically the workers (Melanie, the pregnant woman, and Mike) are eternally stuck there, and the only way to escape is for someone to take over their jobs. i'd love for you to play a traveler (any gender) who stops in and winds up falling for Melanie and wanting to "rescue" her. i'm imagining that they try to drive off, and wind up driving for an ungodly amount of time before winding up right where they started. maybe they then try to break the curse, but Mike (for whatever reason) is uncooperative, but he's the only one who knows more than Melanie. it could go a number of ways!! let me know your thoughts!
as for kinks and limits, i'll drop em here:
