The Hunt

She was a witch… a white witch who dedicated all of her time to learning how to preserve and sustain life. She lived in a cottage deep in the woods where no one could find her, where no one could bother her. She spent decades out there in those dense woods completely immersed in her studies. As time passed, she craved a child of her own. And why wouldn't she? She dedicated her life to helping all manner of life grow, so it only made sense that she'd want to nurture a life she created herself. And it didn't help that a side effect of her profession was that she was particularly fertile. Alas, her studies took up far too much of her time. She couldn't waste her days in pursuit of a suitable and worthy man when she felt like she had important work to do, namely helping the forest that was her home grow and thrive. But as the years went on, her desire for a child only grew stronger and stronger. Her dreams were filled with visions of what it would be like to have a little one running around her home and through her garden, teaching them her trade. The dreams always felt so real, but at the end of the day they were only just that, dreams… useless fantasies…

She decided to deny her urges and focus on embracing the blessings already present in her life like her deep and profound connection to the woods. When the urges were particularly strong, she'd take one of her nude strolls through the woods. Without clothes, she felt like the woods were speaking to her. She felt like she could feel the hum of life that vibrated through the trees and the soil coursing through her veins. Maybe she would never have a human life growing inside of her, but the woods were capable of filling her with life whenever she desired it.

But one day during one of those walks, she saw something in the distance, something lying on the forest floor, something that appeared to be injured. Instincts kicking in, the witch quietly approached the creature only to realize that it was man. And he was wounded. What was a man doing this deep in the woods anyway?! She could feel and smell the life inside of him slowly but surely fading. The woman cursed herself for not having any of her supplies or tools with her, but she knew there was something she could do to help him, something she could do to sustain him just long enough to bring him back to her cottage where she could properly nurse him back to health.

And so she did it…

She fed the nearly unconscious man from her breast, knowing that the life that flowed through her and through the entire woods was concentrated in her milk. It had been ages since she was forced to use that particular technique, and she couldn't help but think that this time it felt different; it was arousing in a way that she had never experienced before. Watching the man unconsciously drink her life saving milk sent a different sort of vibration throughout her entire body. She stared at the ruggedly handsome man, and for a moment, she felt a glimmer of hope. Had the woods delivered her a mate? It would explain how the man had managed to make his way this deep into her forest.

But as the man continued to feed and the woman's adrenaline faded, she became more aware of her surroundings. The man had been gored by some sort of creature. He was bleeding from his abdomen. And then she saw something that made her yelp and drop the man's head from her grasp. She saw a bow and quiver of arrows! He was a hunter! He was a man who stood for everything she opposed! She preserved life, and he went around killing it! No, the woods would not have brought a man like that to her!

Regardless of their philosophical differences, the woman still felt compelled to help the injured man. Helping lost and wounded creatures was simply what she did. She'd take him back, and once he was healed she would send him on his way, she decided. Maybe she'd also sneak in a lecture or two as to why he should give up his profession…

But what the witch didn't know was that the woods /had/ brought this man to her. Will she eventually come to realize that this young man is her perfect compliment? That their combined skills and attributes would allow both the forest and themselves to live in perfect, peaceful harmony? If they can't realize it on their own, then certainly the dark force amassing in the realm would, a dark force threatening to consume not only the forest but the entire world, a dark force that only MC and YC will be able to stop…
