hi! my name is alyssa and i am pretty new here! however, i do have one rp that has been really sticking in my mind lately (ever since november, for reasons that will become apparent soon >w<), so i'm gonna make an rt for that to tide me over until i have my thoughts for the big master rt organized!
that idea, of course, being a sequel to wicked (the musical, not the novel) because gregory maguire and steven schwartz are both cowards and refuse to include sesbian lex in their very gay oz fanfiction. so, here's the idea in question! i will say it's not perfectly the book or the musical, but rather it blends elements of the two together. you can think of it as "what if wicked (musical) happened in the world of wicked (novel)" so it's a lot darker than the musical with things like genocide and religious prejudice and, ya know, unfun things, but it's not as bleak as the book by gregory maguire, the man who hates you, yes, you specifically and wants you to suffer.
shortly after deposing the wizard of oz, glinda the good abdicated the emerald throne, naming the courageous lion as her successor after rolling back the anti-animal policies that the wizard had put in place during his reign. this and the arrest of madame morrible under suspicion of collaboration with the wicked witch of the west remain the defining moments of glinda's short rule.
these days, glinda lives in kiamo ko, the ominous castle where the wicked witch of the west made her final stand. rumors swarm around the empty castle, of course. the arjiki royal family have all but abandoned the palace, believing it to be cursed, while the other winkies of the vinkus believe that the old house is haunted by the wicked witch's even wickeder ghost. the screaming memories of flying monkeys, now largely exterminated, are said to fill the palace with shrieks and shadows, and even glinda must admit that strange things happen here.
in this rp, you will be playing glinda as you explore your new, haunted home, and perhaps this new iteration of oz as a whole too. of course, there are a bunch of secrets that i have in mind, so here's a spoiler if you want to keep said secrets hidden until you discover them in rp:

yes, but not by the dead. fans of the show know that elphaba thropp didn't die at the end of wicked, but rather faked her death to escape the persecution that she faced from oz. however, having learned about the policies that glinda passed during her reign, she has now returned to oz, disguised as a ghost to see what the situation is like. of course, i wanna play elphaba, though of course, if you're reading this spoiler, that option is open for you as well :3
i killed him. i killed him to death or she's actually trans now, making the events of wicked canonically yuri retroactively, because that's what you get for disrupting one of my favorite ships, nerd. get transed. or fucking dead, i guess. that's your choice, actually: should fiyero be dead, or force-femmed and put into a polycule with elphaba and glinda?
hahahaha, no. as it currently stands: the cowardly lion is running things (poorly), refusing to leave the grounds of the emerald palace without a retinue of gale forcers (the wizard's former secret police, for those who didn't read the book), while gilikin, the northern region of oz, has fallen into a sort of fractured state with different factions headed by various industrialists vying for control. quadling country, the south, was ethnically cleansed before the events of the musical and to this day is essentially under martial law, while the vinkus (the west) is set to declare independence from oz, specifically over glinda's declaration that the flying monkeys would not be genocided for their loyalty to the wicked witch. munchkinland in the east is particularly scary, ruled by boq, the tin man who was once married to nessarose, the wicked witch of the east. what was once the bread box of oz has become a proto-fascist technocracy ruled by an iron-fisted (tin-fisted?) dictator who pushes the limits of munchkinland's military capabilities. rumor has it that boq plans to orchestrate a coup and claim the emerald throne for himself, and oz help us if he succeeds at that. and deep below the emerald city in the darkest, dankest dungeon that even the most dedicated of oz's historians have forgotten, the former good witch of the south, madame morrible, lurks, imprisoned but not entirely disempowered. surrounded by the bones and corpses of oz's oldest enemies and armed with a frightening command over the magic of oz, she works tirelessly to claim control for herself.
