hey there! first things first, i am over 30 and i'm looking for writing partners who are at least 25. i have many original characters, both well-developed and new, of every gender, sexuality, age, whatever. i love character dynamics/relationships of all kinds. as far as romance goes, in general i prefer to let it develop after seeing what kind of chemistry our characters have, and i don't give preference to romantic relationships over other types. that is not to say i don't like stories where the romance is the main plotline, or a romantic relationship develops alongside the main plot; i just love character relationships in general, they're a vital part of any story, and i'm equally motivated to write stories about friends, relatives, whatever. i like writing characters in both pre-established relationships and starting as strangers.

i love storytelling, plain and simple. top fave genres are in the title, but i like opportunities to write new and different things. i love getting to know other people's original characters also! i like background characters, side characters, etc. i enjoy having main characters or ensemble casts, and i don't mind writing multiple main, minor, or recurring characters in any given rp. if a story calls for mooks/henchmen/multiple minor antagonists or what have you, i will readily share the responsibility of writing them. i like creating 'universes' and interconnected stories within them. i love playing in the fandom sandbox, but i also love creating brand new original stories. i love both tried-and-true plotlines and more unusual, out there plotlines. let's chat ooc, talk about plot, about our characters, about the weather, whatever! i am a literate roleplayer and i prefer multi para roleplay. one-liners don't really do it for me. i can go pretty long at times, especially on the first post (i like to set the scene), but usually i write between three and five solid paragraphs, which feels natural, and which i find to be the ideal length for good paced collaborative storytelling. let me know if you want to see some examples of my writing.

here are some favorite topics, tropes, time periods, etc, in no particular order (to be updated):
  • supernatural creatures of all types! werewolves, vampires, fae, monsters, merfolk, ogres/trolls, etc
  • retellings of classic fairytales
  • pirates/age of sail. alternately: space pirates.
  • high fantasy dwarves and hobbits/halflings
  • rehabbing and fleshing out "evil" fantasy races, maligned and misunderstood monsters, etc. inherent evil is a tired concept
  • victorian and edwardian era
  • the second half of the 20th century, from the 1960s to the 1990s (ie, modern but before the digital age)
  • medieval, renaissance, pre-industrial revolution generally
  • found family, ride or die, etc
  • characters going from closed off to opening up, forming connection after loneliness, etc
  • reincarnation plots
  • slow burn, idiots to lovers, mutual pining
  • angst with a happy ending
  • rescues, escapes, mutual rescuing
  • resisting oppression/tyranny
  • slice of life, "filler" scenes in more intense plotlines, small moments and details
  • ghosts, hauntings, psychics/sensitives
  • language barrier
  • interspecies (in the context of fantasy and scifi, like fantasy races, aliens, etc), intergenerational, social barrier crossing types of encounters/relationships. the mixing of people who don't often mix and/or are discouraged from mixing.
  • AU, genre shift, etc

i have too many fandoms to list, but here are some, from widely popular toward more niche, some i've written in and some i have never written in; i'm listing them mostly because i know the pain of trying desperately to find a specific fandom rp and finding either nothing or a long-dead rp group, but also to give a general vibe of what i'm into. i don't mind crossovers as long as they make sense. please note i strongly prefer writing original characters, but i may be willing to take up canon characters if a) i enjoy them b) it feels right. list will be updated as i think of shit.
italicized are fandoms that i am almost always down to talk about/write in, whether i've been 'into' them lately or not. highlighted are ones i've been into lately.
if you don't see something here, feel free to ask me about it.
  • Star Trek (tos, tng, ds9, voyager, enterprise)
  • Star Wars (from the prequel/clone wars era, through original trilogy era, to the mandalorian era)
  • Tolkien. LoTR and the Hobbit, books and films.
  • DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, mostly older animes, generally in that vein. also Delicious In Dungeon.
  • DC comics, DCAU, mostly Batman but some more obscure niches too.
  • Sandman, but more familiar with the Netflix series
  • Marvel Comics, Marvel animated stuff, but pretty jaded on like 98% of the MCU, sorry. Spidey is a fave but i'm very familiar with X-Men also. Marvel Comics based RP is kind of an old dusty road for me, i'd have to be convinced.
  • Disney's Gargoyles
  • Stardew Valley
  • Beetlejuice
  • 80s fantasy and science fiction films
  • WWDITS (tv show) & Wellington Paranormal
  • Hawaii Five-0 (the recent one)
  • Highlander films/tv show
  • The Nevers
  • The Dark Crystal, original film and age of resistance (netflix series)
  • Willow, original film and disney+ series
  • BBC Ghosts
hard no fandoms (please do not ask me to rp these. major turnoff):
  • harry potter. i was never big into it to begin with, been tired of hearing about it for a long time, and now, with JKR turning into whatever it is she's turned into... pass.
  • game of thrones. never got into it, no interest in it, tired of people telling me i'll like it just because i like other things with dragons
though usually relatively prompt with replies, and am decent at keeping a good pace going, i, like i imagine most of us do, occasionally deal with writer's block or real life things that make it hard to write for whatever reason. i also have writing commitments elsewhere/other demands upon my time. but please do not be afraid to approach me if it's been a bit since i've replied. i don't abandon threads even after, for example, a period of writer's block, and by the same token i don't mind waiting for replies, or picking up a thread again after a period of inactivity. this is a hobby, not a job. i won't pressure my partners and i ask not to be pressured in return. also, if thing's don't click, that's okay too.

i am comfortable writing in several spaces. i write mostly in forum threads, on blogs, and on discord (i will not provide my handle publicly, talk to me in pms).
