So I am looking specifically for an 85/15 Plot/Smut setup that focuses on pairing Clark Kent with Diana Prince. More specifically, during an early part of their respective time in each others' lives, where he has been Superman for perhaps only a year or two, and up until that point they've perhaps only met (in World-Threatening situations,) two or three times. For Diana we can definitely discuss if/how much time she spent outside Themyscira in earlier points of history, and by extension of course how old she is. The roleplay would be a lot of establishing and deepening a friendship and, ultimately, more, while letting their different perspectives and experiences both enrich and inform the people they eventually become. This is obviously a very specific pairing, and while I want to make the actual plotting and roleplaying a collaborative effort, I do want to discuss the character themes that I think illustrate why this pairing interests me so much.

Clark Kent, the Man of Tomorrow, the Man of Steel, and approximately fifteen other monickers. As someone who, from early childhood, began to exhibit abilities and strength that could be considered godlike, he spent the vast majority of his youth keeping those abilities closely under wraps. It wasn't until he began to travel the world and eventually learned the full truth of his heritage that he took that final leap and presented himself to the world. No mask, a bright costume certain to draw the eye, and a quiet confidence that belied his youth and tried to reassure any who met him of his integrity and his competence.

And yet, even as Superman first took to the air for all to see, he found other ways to hide. Outside the costume his normal shirts and jeans gave way to oversized suits, his posture became hunched and stoop-shouldered, his voice a high, faintly stammering tenor to contrast the rich and comfortable baritone his caped persona used. A Kansas boy who had dabbled in sports as a teen promptly took things in the opposite direction by making himself the most uncoordinated motherfucker on the entire planet, a menace to any knick-knacks within a five foot radius. Even as Superman became more prominent, bolder, and more confident, the Clark Kent he showed the world became meeker, smaller and, at times seemed almost pitiable. Those two sides of the same coin grew sharper and sharper in contrast.

Ultimately, both sides of that coin were a lie. Superman was his effort to become the symbol he wanted to be for those around him, driven by a sense of responsibility that only grew as the spotlight around him intensified. The bespeccled Clark Kent, meanwhile, was the person he felt he had to be in his normal life to compensate for his rejection of a masked alter ego. The real Clark Kent was somewhere in between, and as time went on that man had less and less of an opportunity to exist. His parents' farm in Kansas became as much of a sanctuary for the real Clark Kent as the Fortress of Solitude became for Kal-El; outside of that were so many quiet, little lies and performances.

Diana Prince, by contrast, was a woman who rarely if ever existed as anything other than herself. A Princess of Themyscira, eventually a defacto ambassador to Man's World, she hit the public scene open and honest about every facet of her life. Certainly, half those facets sounded batshit crazy to the average listener. And yes, she had a similarly colorful costume and a heroic monicker stamped on her by the press, but those trappings never seemed to be meant to hide anything about who she was at her core. Instead of creating a role to play, she simply presented herself to the world and left it to them to accept her or not. For Diana, in those early days, the source of her uncertainty would come from without rather than within. With most of her life spent on the island of Themyscira, the world outside its borders brought with it a culture clash that was hard to grapple with.

So, yeah! All things open to discussion, and I might add to these ramblings over time, but that's the loose cobble of thoughts I had. :D
