Issue BMR being blocked as a malicious website all of a sudden

So, my Anti-virus just started blocking access to BMR because it is considered a risk.
It hasn't ever done that before.
It also specifically takes an issue with the URL
Https: / / www. shorturl. at / HLlpH
(Added spaces to make it not actually a link)

I have never seen this url before, so I don't know if it even has anything to do with bmr?

...and the issue apparently just resolved itself. Unless a mod resolved it, but hasn't yet replied. So either 'Never mind' or 'Thank you for the quick work', I guess.

This has been happening to a few users. What anti virus is it that triggered the issue?

I'm using GData, and have been for years. First time it makes trouble here, and like I said it seemed to take issue with that specific url, not the basic BMR url.

I've not seen that URL, and this is about the 3rd or so AV software that's had issues with the site so I assume it's a false positive but an annoying one.

Yeah. Like I said, it stopped throwing up warnings after a few minutes without me telling it to. Maybe its a link in a signature or somewhere? But I don't know anything about running a website. But anyhow, issue is solved on my end, but thanks for checking in so quickly regardless.

It could be that it throws a warning for all shortened links, since the URL doesn't actually tell you what site it points to. That doesn't explain why it'd stop giving that warning ten minutes later, though, or why other AVs are doing the same thing.

Do you have similar issues on other sites when there's a shortened link?

I unshortened the link and the long link it gave me was for a Discord attachment for a specific image that was posted in the status page. I'm guessing the issue stopped happening because that status was bumped off the home page, so it wasn't trying to load it upon visiting in your later visit.

Might be worth it to not allow shortlinks on the homepage as some antiviruses do tend to pick these up.

First time I notice it. My surfing habits very rarely take me to sites where my AV throws a warning.

I expected it to be something like this, status or link in a signature or something.

When you get a message like this, please report the specific page it occurs on.

It's usually whining about a compromised image host.

I use Malware Bytes for my Anti-Virus.

It's thrown up plenty of image hosts (used by BMR users when linking their images) it doesn't like, but never yet complained about the BMR site.

It was immediately upon trying to access the main page at
https:// bluemoonroleplaying.com /community

I do believe Bejeweled is correct about the status update containing the link and being bumped off the main page.

...I think you need to consider whether your chosen antivirus is really protecting you.

I mean, it was obvious pretty quickly that this was a false positive on a shortlink. I just understood your earlier post as a request to provide more detailed information if it happened again? If that was not the case, then don't worry about it. It's easy enough to work around on my end.

Yeah I was wondering if it had the intelligence to evaluate a redirect but that clearly isn't the case if it's blacklisting the entire domain.

Ah, gotcha. I'll admit, I'm not an expert on the topic. But it served me well so far, and I'd rather be annoyed needlessly on occasion than the other way around, and it is a rare enough happenstance that it usually doesn't affect my browsing.
But yeah, thanks for the explanations and the quick responses. :)

I've found that when it comes to using certain browsers, that also has an impact. False positives are common with any AV extension/software. What I've found that works is using Edge (which has improved with security) and ensuring that HTTPS is shown in the URL bar.
Also depends on when the AV gets updated with their databases as that has an impact
