Hello there! I'm Joerg. I've used BMR's forums a good amount in the past, but after drifting away from roleplay for quite a long time I'm finally back! I've been roleplaying for the better part of a decade and have a fondness for science fiction, superheroes, tokusatsu, fantasy and affectionately mocking the art I adore. When you have a passion for superhero stories, it's hard not to do that last one.
What I'm Looking For
Ideally, anyone looking into this thread has passion and/or knowledge regarding superhero stories! If you're a patient partner who can clearly communicate when they require a break for discussion or even just want to pause the roleplay, that is a major bonus in my books.
I have a preference for character focus in stories, and so if you're the type who doesn't mind pulling away from the action to spend a while with characters going about their lives, bonding and interacting then I think you'd be the perfect person!
Before you message, I ask that you be comfortable with themes of coarse language, bloodshed and violence, death, psychological distress, disturbing imagery and neglect.
Romance is an optional element, but not something I'm opposed to! If that's something you prefer to have in a roleplay, just say the word and I'd be happy to work out making some characters with chemistry.
The Plot
That title isn't without meaning! I do, in fact, have a scenario in mind.
This story follows two posthumans in a semi-episodic format as they embark on various missions, with me portraying the Guy In The Chair alongside villains and adversaries the Agent encounters. Their missions would be (mostly) disconnected, with the through-line of relationships formed while "on the job" (and between our characters) alongside recurring antagonists.
For a bit more background…
This world is one where posthumans—people with strange and terrible power—have grown in number over time. Now, with a global population of around 200,000, a sort of tipping point was reached in recent decades.
Among posthumans, many great and benevolent heroes shine and maniacal villains plot to wreak havoc. The majority are not like this. This is a world where up-and-coming hero teams are often viewed as little more than violent gangs competing for territory and resources in the undersocieties and guts of the cities, taking out their petty grudges on the world around them with the power at their disposal.
This world isn't quite dark, but neither is it a bastion of integrity. And as it happens, neither are we. Our characters swim in the vast, murky zone between hero and villain. This is where we dwell in order to thrive. Neither do-gooders or cackling madmen. We are not the most powerful, the most connected, or the most principled… but what option is there other than to survive in Cowill City?
Notes
Sorry if that was a lot! This is a setting and premise that's been swimming around in my head for ages. Frankly, I could rant about it for hours. Already kinda have… Regardless, I hope it caught your eye! Please PM me if it has.
And feel free to ask me any questions you may have, I'll be happy to answer!
