Kimberly Sinclair is tired. Kimberly Sinclair is hungry. And Kimberly Sinclair is broke.

She is currently just outside an inn, fishing around in the pocket of her cloak to see how many coins she has left. There's a faint jingle, raising her hopes, but looking inside, it's only three coppers. Not enough for a bed or a meal. Kim sighs, looking up at the ominously approaching storm clouds. "Dammit all," she mutters, giving one last look inside before departing. She steps without looking as the first raindrops fall, and...

Bam! Walks straight into a wall of muscle. She slams directly into the blue-scaled dragonkin, knocking herself on her butt. "Sorry!" she stammers out, scrambling to her feet. "I didn't mean to," she adds, looking up at the face easily a foot above her own. Her muscles tense just a little bit, readying herself to fight or flee if the tall woman decides to escalate the situation.

Via had just got back to town after a very long stint working as a body guard in a caravan, so boring but well paying, now she wanted a nice meal, hearty mead, and a bed to sleep till noon in.
The local inn was a favorite of hers and always served her meat just how she liked it!

Her thoughts were interrupted by someone bumping into her…someone small, a child? “My apologies I didn’t see you there” she instantly noticed a few things, this wasn’t a child, and she looked a bit worn down.
She knew just what to do “say! You look like someone who knows how to have a good time, how’s about I pay for a meal for my rudeness?”

She didn’t let her new friend get a word in as she clapped her on the shoulders and steered her inside the inn, which was loud and boisterous. They moved to a table and sat, Via held up her hand “meal for two and keep the mead coming!”

"I, um," Kimberly manages to stammer out as she's marched by the other woman into the inn. The patrons of the inn look at the newcomers, some of them recognizing Via, but no one recognizing Kim. It's a stark contrast-Kimberly bundled up in a leather cloak, lined with a couple pockets, over her dark grey dress, her body nicely curved but lacking the strong muscles of Via's draconic body, and her height of just over five feet compared to Via's towering 6'3".

By the time the two have sat down, Kim has realized that this situation isn't actually so bad. "Thank you, ma'am," she says to Via. "I... I'm Kimberly. Kimberly Sinclair." She thinks about protesting the treatment she's getting, but as a server sets the appetizers, a simple salad with a little baked chicken, her growling stomach silences that thought. So, she tucks in. chowing down on the well-prepared food.

The same dish is set in front of Via, and each of them gets their own full glass of mead. Kimberly eyes the mead with a bit of apprehension-she doesn't drink alcohol, but she'd hate to be rude to this kindly stranger and turn it down.

Via grabbed her drink first and downed it in one go “ahhhh! Nothing like a splash of mead to wash the dust off the road away. My name Via, Via Thunderfist” She took a chuck of meat and looked at Kim “you seem a goodly sort, what brings you round these parts?.”
Music was being played by some minstrels and several men were singing along, pounding the tables to the tune.
She couldn’t tell if Kim was an adventurer or not, most adventurers didn’t travel alone, but stranger things had been seen then a solo adventurer.

The town they were in was closer to the mountains and would soon see snow in the next few weeks, Via was planning on heading south, she didn’t much care for the cold and this kingdom was far to stoggy for her tastes.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Thunderfist," Kim says with a smile. "I was actually raised not too far from here. I guess it was nostalgia that brought me back here-this is where I used to go when I had some time to myself."

She looks at her mead, and as Via gets her next mug, takes a tentative sip. It's well-made, and the slight sweetness of the honey that it was made with helps cut through the alcohol flavor. I've... Ooh, that's nice," Kim says. "I was hoping to find somewhere I could use my skills. I don't really need a lot, but, well... I need at least a little. And I don't really have that right now."

Kim closes her eyes for a moment, tapping her feet along to the beat and melody. "They're quite talented!" she comments on the musicians, and takes a heartier swig of her mead. "What
about you? What brought you here?"

After some time spent talking, Kim is feeling strange. Warm, and fuzzy, and distinctly not sober. "You... You..." she slurs out, a dopey grin on her face. "Dance? Do dance? You dance?" she asks, getting to her feet and walking unsteadily for the open area in front of the minstrels' alcove. "Come on, let's-hic!-dance!" she calls to Via just before attempting a little jump and spin. She manages to land without hitting anything, but she keeps spinning on her feet, and before long, hits the ground. "I feel weird..." are the last words she says before finally conking out entirely.

It was her third or forth round of drink and she had propped her head up as she listened to Kim, she was a good soul, just down on her luck. “I’m a mercenary, I usually get work protecting the supply convoys, just a stop on my endless journey.”

They talked and drank and talk some more, but Via could tell that Kim was not use to stern drink, a few times she glared or even bared teeth at asome drunk sod who looked to take advantage of Kim’s inebriated state, but they quickly ran off.

the Dragon kin laughed loudly as Kim finally succumbed.

The next morning, they both lay in a large bed, Kim snuggly cuddled to Via’s side. They were both still dressed so luckily no mischief there.

Kim's dreams start off pleasant. The drinks and her new friend combine in her mind, a whirlwind of dancing and incoherent talking, pleasant and formless, goes through.

But as her upbringing rears its head, the warm, pleasant dreams start to turn cold and bitter. Stern voices, telling her not to drink, not to dance, not to consort with 'unclean' individuals... And the stark images of all the hypocrisy and cruelty she'd seen from those who would admonish her.

She suddenly jerks awake as an especially vicious memory hits her, bolting upright and breathing heavily, her hands slipping away from the warmth of her companion.

Via groaned and opened one eye, looking at Kim “I thought you’d sleep longer, the inn won’t serve breakfast for another hour.” She grumbled, followed by a very wide yawn that showcased all of her rather sharp teeth.
“Did you have a bad dream?”
She might also have a hangover, it could be brutal to anyone not use to drinking.

The air definitely had a bit of nip to it which Via detested, she didn’t keep her best to cover herself more with the blanket.

"Urgh... Yeah," Kim replies, the splitting headache deciding to make itself known now. "I'm not... Not used to alcohol. Never had any before. Stones and stars, my head..."

She lays back, keeping a small distance between herself and Via now that she's awake enough to think. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have imposed," she adds, her addled mind only now starting to really take stock of the situation.

Kimberly had never bedded with another woman. Or with a man. Anyone at all, really. "Did we... What happened last night?" she asks, all at once fearful, though perhaps tinged with just a bit of rebellious hope.

Via could hear the nervousness in Kim’s voice, and had to wonder at it, was she hoping that they had? Or worried that they had? “Mmmm…well” she couldn’t help it, it was just too good an opportunity.
She let the possibility stretch till she had to chuckle “we had a meal, drank, danced a bit then came back here….where we slept..and only slept.”

She rolled over a bit so she can look at Kim “if we had..bumped hips..I think you would be more than a little sore.” Though it was a flattering thought.
“And you weren’t imposing, new friends are rare, but you? Your something special…we can pick up supplies after breakfast..”

Plane as day was the confusion on Kim’s face “last night you said I could travel with you and we could try for the adventurers guild, I am a Dame of my word and will be your loyal companion for future travels.”

Kim's expression is mostly relieved. "Okay... Okay. I'm sorry, I know you're a good person, and you'd never take advantage of someone," she says, already confident in Via's morals. "It's just not something I'm used to. Sleeping with someone, that is. I mean, just sleeping! Sharing a bed."

"We did? I don't remember... But that does sound like a plan!" she says, putting her feet over the side of the bed and patting her dress down a bit as it balloons up from the motion. "If we're to be traveling together, and potentially facing danger, we should explain what we can do. I'm well-trained in medicine and have healing magic at my disposal, as well as some offensive magic. Rays of light to blind and hamper enemies, walls of searing flame, things like that. But, I'm, uh... Not particularly experienced in fighting."

She turns to look at Via after standing. "I guess it might be a good idea if you train me?"
