Okay, this is my first request thread, so still trying to figure things out and organize my ideas better.
My name is Shawn, but screen name ArtVanDelay (if you get the reference, you are awesome!). I have been role-playing for quite a few years, starting back when I was in my teens on Yahoo chatrooms. I've been on Black Dahlia for a long time, but the constant maintenance shutdowns are getting on my nerves. So now I am here. I hope to find some nice writing partners to make something amazing!
My main go-to as far as genres as concerned is slice-of-life/realistic settings. It's easier to put myself in the situations. High fantasy is fine for some, but I've never been into the Tolkien thing and the only sci-fi I like is Ray Bradbury type of stories.

I will add more plots when I come up with them. If either idea catches your interest, feel free to send me a PM.

I am hoping for an intercultural pairing here. The woman who is the stripper had come to America in hopes of making something of herself and to make her family proud of her. She hails from the Middle East, her family helping her to escape the dangers of her home, saving all their money to help get her out of the country. She comes to America, had started off strong with attending university, but after a while, life had become so expensive for her, and because of her background and bit of a language barrier, it was difficult to find a job. She did learn that her exotic look and accent could earn her money, so she took a job working at a strip club. In a sea of bleach blondes with fake breasts and bitchy brunettes, she stands out with her alluring eyes, her physique so natural and appealing to many men. She knows it is shameful work, so much so she must lie to her family when they ask how her life is going. How can she tell her mother and father that she survives by taking her clothes off for strangers and allows men to grope her in the private rooms?
My character is a young man of modest means. He has a small circle of friends, or at least one friend who brought him along to the circle. He is a student at the university as well, studying foreign language. His friends had decided that one evening they would blow off some steam and visit the strip club. Have some beers and watch a few women grind against the pole. As the group crowds the stage to tip the dancers, my character hangs back at the bar, having his beer. Your character comes up and tries to flirt and get a few tips from him, seeing him all alone. As she speaks, he catches her accent and asks where she is from. Thinking nothing off it, just some poor lonely guy making small talk she tells him. What catches her attention is when he says something in her language. He is not fluent, but can converse well enough. She appreciates his attempt to talk to her. She had been missing home and being able to talk to someone familiar with her home and language made her feel a little better. The night would pass by and he and his friends would leave, but they left an impression on each other. The next week at the university, while sitting in the library doing some work, my character sees a girl that reminds him of the dancer he met the weekend before. Imagine his surprise when he learns it is the very same woman. When he goes to talk to her, would she still be interested if he wasn't tipping her?

An adult actress is in her early thirties. She started off doing some modeling to help pay her way through college; some tame nude stuff, but it escalated to sexual photos of her touching herself, using toys, then getting to the point she was being filmed with male talent. The money increased accordingly with each new level. She didn't have to worry about student debt and was able to finish with her degree, but of course, as many college grads learn, a degree doesn't mean much when jobs aren't hiring. She had hoped once school was over, she didn't have to film scenes of herself and a male or female co-star for anonymous viewers online anymore. It was as if any job she applied for searched her name and her background in the adult industry came up. She wasn't overcome with shame of her career. It did pay for her school, after all, but she just wanted more for her life than earning money taking shots of semen to the face. It wasn't all bad. She made a few friends, some closer relationships than others. She even was romantically involved with one of her male co-stares for a while. She just realized she needed to think about what else she wanted for her life. She didn't want to be that 40- or 50-year-old porn star doing MILF and step-mother scenes.
My character is a college dropout, having done one year before realizing it wasn't worth the money. He wanted to get into writing history books and to travel the world to see the places he had always read about. He didn't understand why he had to put up with remedial math classes and science classes if he were studying something more writing focused. He decided two semesters were enough. He entered the workforce after the end of his first year and just earned some money to live and to further his own hopeful endeavors. He was luckier than most. Only $10,000 in debt to pay back, as opposed to $40k+.
Our characters meet through chance. Your character is having a day to herself, just going out and about, stopping in at a bookstore and grabbing a drink from the cafe inside. My character is at the same bookstore, browsing for a few titles, stopping into the cafe also. He has a drink, sitting at a table, his nose in one of his books, meanwhile she sees there aren't many seats, or empty tables remaining, so she asks my character if she could sit down, promising not to bother him. She is usually hesitant to do such a thing, mostly because she knows men look at her with lust in their eyes. He seems different, though. When she sits down, he isn't pretending to read while sneaking a peek at her chest or trying to flirt with her. To make it less awkward, she decides to spark up a conversation on what he's reading, letting him take the lead to fill the silence, but also steer any conversation away from possibly recognizing her and what she does. After a while she gets a text from one of her friends and says she had to go, but gives him her number if he wanted to text her later on. It can slowly lead to a friendship that leads to something more romantic. The only thing, though, she is curious if he knew who she was or not. Was he just being polite by not bringing up her career, or was he really just blissfully ignorant?

YC is a young evening anchor for the local new station. She had started working there as a production assistant (PA) when she had been majoring in radio and tv broadcasting in university. She worked her way up from PA to online content, to reporting and after graduating with her degree, she was given the opportunity to take over for an anchor who had left for a bigger market. She is very well-liked around the station, sometimes a little flirtatious with the male on-air talents, but all in good, innocent fun. She is single; working evening shift until after midnight can really hinder one's dating life. Having settled into her new career, she really just wanted someone special in her life to share her successes with, but finding that special man was proving to be difficult.
MC had started working at the news station a year prior to when the story begins. He had taken the job as a means of making some extra money while he was in school. He didn't study broadcasting, and he was quite surprised he was able to be hired as a PA. It had been part-time in the mornings while he was attending university, but after a few months he had dropped out of college, taking a full-time position with the evening crew. It had taken some time to get adjusted to a new team, but he seemed to fit in well. His first night working with YC, he was in love. Staring at her as he positioned the cameras in the studio, just watching her through the viewfinder, he thought she was the most beautiful woman, the lighting of the studio making her more angelic. She treated him as well as she did the entire crew. She had no major ego about her; she remembered her first steps as a PA.
Through some happenstance we can brainstorm, we can devise a way for our characters to have to spend time together. Perhaps it is after the late news and time to go home and her car is broken down, needing a ride and look who just happens to be lingering around before heading to his car. Or she could spot him reading in the vacant control room and has a mutual interest in what he's reading, giving them something to connect on and build from. We can decide together.

I had the idea of a woman who had fallen on hard times and forced to prostitute herself to make ends meet falls in love with a john who had become a regular of hers to the point it wasn't just a transaction of have sex, give cash, then out the door. It had started to be like a real date, their sessions sometimes just being more about enjoying each other's company than it was just trying to get off and get out. Then a point came she didn't charge him at all for her time. She felt safe with him, found refuge in his home. By the time he takes her in, it was like they were already a couple. The trouble (and taboo aspect) was, she still sold her body. She still needed money and was too proud to let him take her in for free. How could their relationship work with such an arrangement?
I was thinking about a male college student who becomes involved with one of the female professors. She is a recent divorcee, enjoying her single life, going out, having a casual date here and there that usually led to nothing more than a one-night stand. The two meet via a dating app. MC having swiped right on girls his age, adjusted his settings to show women older than him. That is when he sees YC. He recognized her from seeing her around campus, even having a class of hers as a freshman, though she probably wouldn't remember. He swipes right on her and they match, to his surprise. They get to chatting and realize they actually get along well. He reveals she was once his professor, she is a bit taken aback, but reasons that so long as she isn't teaching him, they can pursue something, though her job would probably still be on the line if anyone found out. The forbidden aspect makes it so alluring for her, while he is happy to have the attention and affection of a woman more mature than his peers.
MC moved from his cozy small town in Indiana to the big glamorous city of Los Angeles to try to make something of himself as a photographer. Living in the country, he cut his teeth on landscape photography and the occasional car shows, but trying to find professional work was impossible in his region, unlessvhe wanted to be a portrait photographer at a retailer. He moved to where the action was, so to speak.
He meets YC who also had moved out to LA to be an actress, like many had before her. Between castings and waiting for hopeful callbacks, she works in one of the shops on the beach, living as well as she can; meeting guys, fires on the beach with friends, making extra cash being a model for artists, photographers, being pin-up girl for car shows, whatever to get her name out there. YC and MC become friends, her showing him around, being the more experienced outsider to the big city. What would their adventures bring them? Would they revel in each other's successes and be there for each other when they fall?

MC was a typical guy in his mid-20s. He had a job he really liked, was well-educated, and had been quite smitten with a coworker of his. However, after his coworker is brutalized, he finds that the law and judicial system have its cracks that must be filled. He cleans up the mess of the animal that hurt his dear crush, only to discover he had a taste for such a deed. He begins a crusade of ridding the city of rapists and murderers and those he deem unfit for life who somehow evaded justice because of technicalities or lack of interest on the part of the police.
YC is a homicide detective who has be assigned to investigate these murders and find the killer. Of course, officially it is your duty; nobody is above the law. However, personally, you sympathize with the effort of this unknown killer. Some of the names that were unlucky enough to be in his crosshairs were names already known to police for violent offenses. Once you find who is behind it all, you confront him, but not to take him into custody. In fact, it's to show your appreciation for his actions. You may help in his crusade, or you may just 'help' by steering the investigation away from MC.
This actually will start off a little weird. I want to begin as a sort of frame narrative where MC is already in custody, having turned himself in, and being interrogated by YC and her partner. Then the story begins from there.

Now let's go for something more dystopian, but still realistic.
The debt the US has accumulated over the decades has finally been defaulted on and now a certain foreign country has decided it is time to take some assets of the US as a means of paying off the debt. The asset most valuable is the land of the free itself. Sections of the country are sold off to a foreign adversary, dividing the nation into Free America and Occupied America. The US military is powerless to do anything with the authorization of such a takeover by the executive branch as well as legislative. For those unfortunate souls caught in the occupied lands, they are under a new flag, a new government. All dissent is silenced and made examples of publicly. This is America, though, and citizens do not exactly like the idea of foreign invaders telling them what to do. With the aide of some resourceful folks on the borders of the occupied land and the free land, bands of guerilla fighters do all that they can to rid their home of the forces who fly the foreign flag. YC and MC had known each other in university before the take-over. They were from two different worlds, essentially, but they grew to like each other as time went on. They are each other's motivation to stay strong and fight when their world as they knew it changes in the middle of the night.

I will add more plots when I come up with them. If either idea catches your interest, feel free to send me a PM.
