The blinkgate pulsed with scintillating flashes from within it's ring, each burst of light announcing the arrival of another slender ship from the Kallon fleet into the local system. Most were transport ships and carriers, all adorned with the associated emblem of their family houses. A number of warships were present, escorting the main fleet and on standby if the need for their firepower was required. Behind the wall of vangaurd vessels was the imperial flagship, a black and gold coloured carrier nearly double the size of the other transport vessels and with enough armements to rival the vangaurd of Kallon Warship. On the front of the large vessel was the Emblem of a Talon; House Erheart. Once all of the fleet exited blinkspace the Kallon invasion fleet began to move, their engines firing up and accelerating as they made their way to the only inhabitated planet in the system ruled by the Profitocracy.
The Riator Profitocracy knew of the incoming invasion fleet, it had been announced months prior by the Kallon empire after all. Orbitting the inhabitable planet, referred to only as HD 428761, was the Riator fleet awaiting the arrival of the invasion force. Riator scout vessels at the blinkgate watched as the imperial fleet passed by, neither showing any signs of hostility towards each other. HD 428761 had been chosen for it's mineral resources and lack of major population centers. It was an early colony, still developing and the perfect location for an imperial bout proclaimed by the Kallon empire.
Every colony in the galactic sector had been anxiously awaiting a message the moment they heard that the Kallon crown heir was looking for a betrothed. The Profitocracy mining colony was chosen as the current proving ground, the Raitor colony determined to be the most adequate adversary in the sector. The Kallon announced a challenge for the mining rights to HD 428761, a bout between the full might of the Kallon imperial knights against the Profitocracy's own suit pilots. But there were more at play than the usual territorial challenge that the Kallon empire would throw out against their neighbours. This bout allowed for every imperial house to prove themselves and seek the hand of the Crown heir for honour, glory and privelege. The mightiest Kallon knight who proved themselves on the battlefield would become the crown heir's chosen and be granted the right of marriage for either themselves or another family member into the Imperial house of Erheart.
Once both fleets had entered orbit, Lances of Kallon knights proceeded to set landfall on the mining planet to do battle in their mechanized suits, every military target selected less for strategic purposes and more for difficulty and the honour it would bring to their lance of knights, each warrior hoping to peak the interest of their crown heir. For every battle, the Kallon knights preemtively announced their arrival and set rules of engagement with the Riator military to make each skirmish a matter of personal skill over superior strength. As the Kallon forces held their honour and chivilry in high esteem it would not prove one's ability with an easy victory. And for any adversary of the empire, it did well to follow suit, else they would be left to face the fleet of warships in high orbit ready to rain fire down on any colony that did not conduct themselves with civility and honour. The Kallon forces met barbary with complete destruction and as such most neighbouring colonies had learned to accept the manner of challenges and bouts in which the mighty empire used to conquer, because at least they then had a chance to be victorious or more likely to still lose with minimal collateral damage. Control of regions could be determined by only a handful of deaths instead of complete destructive conflicts, the empire's methods allowing them to maintain a strong fighting force with a focus on individual skill and teamwork.
For weeks, mechanized suit battled on the surface and in orbit of the nearby planet. Metal wreckages covered the numerous battlefield sites across the planet. Lances of Kallon knights and squads of Raitor pilots were killed and maimed as the imperial forces took control of more of the planet while the two opposing fleets observed overhead and planned the optimal locations for the next bout of fighting. The Profitocracy held strong, maintaining a defence that even the empire did not expect. Meanwhile, the rest of the galactic sector watched the outcomes of the battles by omninet with baited breath, wondering when the conflict would be called to end. By the eleventh week there was a sudden announcement that finally broke the silence.
"A honourable suitor had been chosen by the crown heir for their proficiency and skill in battle. They will be revealed live on the Omninet in an interview with the imperial crown heir. The great house of Talon appreciate the efforts every knight and Raitor pilot has performed for our great crown heir and the honour they have brought to their houses and corporations." The words spread quickly over the omninet.
Immedietly the Kallon forces departed the surface of HD 428761 with their spoils of war and awaited further orders back on their house carriers. Kallon had won multiple mining rights through their bouts but the Profitocracy still maintained control of the planet. Rumours were quickly spread of which house knight could have been chosen, some wondering why the campaign had been called so early before the planet had been won. The whole Kallon fleet was buzzing with activity and communication while the Riator vessels and army were finally able to relax for the first time since the invasion campaign had begun. Profitocracy officers and pilots were even invited to the Kallon imperial flagship to partake in the celebration and ceremony. Everyone waited to hear who the crown heir, Desmond Erheart, would select for his betrothed as he returned to the Kallon flagship alongside his own lance of knights, fresh from the surface of the planet where he had participated in multiple skirmishes over the months. He kept silent about it however, even among his own officers. Desmond maintaining it would be revealed in the omninet interview.
