Hi there!

Greg here and I'm craving something specific in this thread.

Simply put, I'm looking for a Nancy Drew type: an amateur female sleuth, but with a twist. (Female writers in real life preferred).

  • She's a few years older than my male character. Thinking he's 22-ish, she's north of 30.
  • MC has a big time crush on her but she doesn't really know it when the story begins.
  • YC is a nurse or some other profession that required schooling and training, but NOT in crime solving.
  • YC swears she saw someone get abducted.
  • YC gets MC to help her pursue her hunch.
  • Action, adventure and possibly romance ensues, despite the age difference. At the very least, MC crush only intensifies along the way.
Here are possible pairings for the two protagonists (MC on the left) in terms of their relationship to each other. I'm open to others!

Friend of YC sister
Friend of YC friend
Shop owner x regular customer
IT guy where YC works
Neighbor

Basically, I've become enamored with the idea of playing a slightly secondary character to a strong female lead. He dotes on her but is also leery of she plunging into a possibly reckless "investigation." But he goes along with it because he's really sweet on her and doesn't want her to get hurt. So he's along for the ride but reluctantly. He often tries to talk sense into her but she's stubborn and strong willed.

Of course, the pair finds trouble and they need to get out of it mostly on their own.

The more time he spends with her, the more smitten he becomes with her.

As for whether romance blooms or not, we can discuss. I'm OK either way. If his interest in her remains unrequited, that's fine too.

So that's it! My crazy little, specific plot idea!
