Hello,
Rather than prepare a list of alternative prompts for the reader to select from, I am going to pitch a single prompt I'm excited about right now, and edit it once I've found a partner for it, and am ready to move on to something else.
Housekeeping: I write 3rd person, usually between 300 and 700 words, depending on the messaging cadence and quantity of dialogue. I only write on this site through PMs.
Plot: Boone's Gulley is a nowhere town in Arkansas, one Apache raid away from being cinders. The main thoroughfare is attended by three buildings only: a saloon/inn, a general store, and a church. Just outside of the hardscrabble town is a ranch, comparatively wealthy, and whose owner, a Rudolph Cleveland, has recently expanded to the New Mexican territory. This man is your father.
He's pulling up stakes and relocating, and has tasked his ranch hands with moving the head of cattle across the states in a long drive to the new land he's purchased, where he's begun construction of a hacienda.
In addition, he's a devout Christian, and has contributed a not inconsiderable amount of money to raising a new church in the as-yet unnamed town. He would like the wooden, carved statue of the Virgin Mary, an impressive piece currently on display in Boone's Gulley, which he donated to the church, to be transported to his new ranch town.
My character is a poor ranch hand, but dependable and trustworthy. He's young, and treated almost like a son by the elder Cleveland.
Yesterday he received a letter. In it, Cleveland asked him to take his eldest daughter, the only one who had not yet traveled west with the family, and escort her to the new ranch. Along with the wooden statue of Mary from the church. Cleveland indicated that upon arrival in New Mexico, both women should be just as virginal as when they set out from Boone's Gulley.
The RP will consist of our characters' traveling together across Oklahoma to New Mexico.
Kinks I would like to include: illicit affair, impregnation risk, slow-burn romance, high-station woman and low-station man, back country loving.
I'm open to adjustments as well, so if you're at all interested in a Wild West plot, shoot me an inquiry and let's have a chat Hope to hear from some eager writers ready to try their hand at colonial life!
