The startling tone of his iPhone shook David, or Davey as some people were allowed to call him, from a very deep and very much needed sleep. The phone number was unlisted, so he didn't both to answer it and instead he turned over to depart back into the land of dreams and nightmares. When he finally woke up he glanced at the phone and wondered who would leave a voice message for him at nine am in the morning. Everyone he knew that knew him, knew that he never was up before noon on weekday or weekend. No exceptions. With a muttered curse as he remembered being woken up he dialed his voice mail and entered his password to listen to the voice message. At first he didn't even recognize the voice, but once the female identified herself it kind of clicked. The surprise registering on his face was first of sheer impossibility, and second of anger. How the fuck did my mother find this number?
"Hi David, or whatever you call yourself nowadays. Listen. If it wasn't an emergency I wouldn't call you. I have to fly out to Miami today, in three hours, and I can't find anyone to watch your sister... I know we've... Disagreed, but I really need your help. Call me back soon. My number is..."
Davey glanced at the clock. That meant she was leaving now... His sister... He hadn't seen her since she was ten; an awkward little girl who played too many video games is what he remembered. With a growl he rolled over and thought about just ignoring her, but then he realized he didn't have shit to do today and... Well, wouldn't it be awesome to go back and cause a little trouble without mom around to fix it? Fuck yes it would. Quickly he dialed her number, and she breathlessly answered the phone, "David, is that you?"
"Yea mom, listen I don't know where..."
"- Don't worry, I'll send you the address. I'm getting into the taxi now. Rose will be back at four from her gymnastics lesson. Make sure you're home then. There is money for food for the weekend on the counter. Thanks. We'll talk when i get back."
"Okay... Fine... Bye."
Davey wasn't quite sure what he was going to do, but he did know he was throwing a party at... The iPhone buzzed with the text message, the party would be at that address starting at ten and going until whenever the fuck he felt like it was over. This was going to be one awesome night; all he'd have to deal with his his little sister, and what was she going to do? Call mom? Who the fuck cared. Nothing she could do about it a thousand miles away. Davey decided to make sure he was home well before Rose, so that he could scope the place out first. He arrived at three and found a key under the mat where his mom had said it would be. Immediately he was impressed. When he'd moved out (kicked out) there little one floor house had been a piece of shit. Now; his mom had obviously done quite a bit coming up in the world. It was a two story luxury house with a two port garage and balcony in the backyard that overlooked a enormous pool.
"Fuck yes," David whispered, as he immediately began phoning up more of his friends.
Just as he walked down the steps from Rose's bedroom, he heard her opening the door, smoothly he scooped up the cash from the kitchen counter and walked into the room where Rose was standing sort of awkwardly. They had both grown up in the six years they'd been apart.
David had gotten bigger all over. His chest, arms, legs, and what was between his legs were all bigger and stronger then when he'd left at the young age of fifteen. Now he was twenty-two, and was in charge of his own private, but illegal strip club. He had no facial hair, but there was some scruff on his throat already from when he'd shaved last and his brown hair that his mother had always kept short was gelled into a small mohawk of sorts. With a nod of his head he held up his hand in greeting, "Hey... Sister..."
