(both characters would be 16+, so high school)
There's a new girl at Riley's school this year. The new girl moved away from her former home to Riley's small town. Riley's always interested in getting to know new people and making friends. She's empathetic and doesn't want the new girl to feel scared or lonely about attending a new school. She starts up a mundane conversation with her about anything, something about her outfit, a pin on her backpack, something about her hair, anything unique or interesting about her. That simple gesture of kindness slowly blossoms into a friendship. They find out they share some common interests together. (it can be anything really which we can discuss. Any kind of passion for art, painting, photography, music, they like the same band, they both like to sing or dance, theater and acting in plays, true crime, playing the same sport at school, x-country track or tennis, liking nature or animals, going for walks and hikes together, even bird watching. This is something we can discuss and brainstorm together. It's only an interest or hobby that brings them closer.) They don't have to share everything in common, their personalities and interests can be different too. This is what makes them unique and interesting. Especially when the new girl moves from another state to Riley's small town. The new girl is already kind of exotic because new people are few and far between in this town.
Riley isn't thinking about a romantic relationship in the beginning, she's never even thought that she could like girls on a romantic level. She always assumed that she liked boys. Whether the new girl is also 'straight', bisexual, openly gay, in the closet gay, totally unsure is up to you. It seems like her feelings happen out of the blue, but it's really a gradual process. After getting to know her and spending so much time together their relationship takes an unexpected step forward though. A seemingly innocent moment or touch together makes her realize she likes her more than just a friend. Once she opens up about her true feelings or they share an unplanned first kiss all bets are off. She becomes fully committed to a gay relationship.
Riley's basic personality and background:
Riley is a bit of a dreamer. She's kind, empathetic, loves to laugh. She loves animals and adores her 6 year old Siamese cat Benjamin. She loves meeting new people, although they can be pretty rare in her small town home. She likes to play with her friends in the school sport's programs, mostly as a social activity. In her free time she likes to dance in her bedroom, go for walks and hikes on the nearby trails, shopping at the town's thrift store. She's learning how to use the sewing machine to make clothes. She likes braiding her own hair and sometimes experimenting with hair dye. She doesn't always wear makeup but she's okay using it. Eyeshadow is the most fun, trying new things with eyeliner, it's not always perfect but it's fun to try. Doing other people's make up is fun, if it's just doing hair or shadow, bb cream and a basic routine or a full evening routine.
She doesn't have any grand ideas about her future. She thinks it would be fun to work with animals in a zoo or become a veterinarian. She could see herself working with people in some fashion. She's a dreamer, she daydreams about lots of careers like being a fire fighter or being the captain of a boat. Her inspiration can come from books, people she admires and movies. Her favorite movie is Inside Out but she loves comedies, Christmas movies and romances. It's always best when movies have a happy ending and they aren't too needlessly gory. In some regards she may not have matured as fast as her peers.
Her favorite food is probably pizza although she loves to eat almost anything! The red curry at the local Thai restaurant is really yummy. Hot chocolate is probably her favorite drink, it's hard to choose sometimes. She does have flaws, sometimes she gets jealous for almost no reason. Sometimes she gets upset when she isn't allowed to do something or she doesn't get her way. She feels insecure about being alone. She thinks she's good at keeping at secrets but she's been known to accidentally spread gossip when she's being a chatterbox. She typically tries to channel her negative traits in positive ways.
What I want:
I love small town vibes (a couple restaurants, and a movie theater in the town, lots of outdoor activities like hiking). I love to be seasonal oriented, I'm in the US, when it's autumn I think about apple picking and Halloween, when it's winter I think about ice skating, snow storms and hot chocolate, etc). I love a focus on non-sexual sensations like holding hands, hugs, doing each other's hair and make up, sitting close during a movie. Light touches down sensitive places like the back of her neck, back rubs, shoulder rubs, playful touches, awkward games of Twister, dancing together. I love more intimate and deliberate touches as well.
I'm happy with either a short term or long term story. Long term is a commitment, The story starts out with the characters meeting and getting to know each other. They start making plans together after school. I love coming up with random activities or events to plan their days around, anything centered around a shared interest (if it's art they can read art books together, paint, etc. We can be really creative about whatever it is). We gradually insert little moments together that make them think things like "Wow, it's so nice to find someone who shares my interests," "this person really gets me!" "Where has this friend been all my life?" They gradually become more comfortable with physical contact, just hugs or sitting close together, being so close they can sense the soft wisp of their breath on them, holding hands in a playful fashion. There's a level of innocence and trust in the beginning that doesn't feel at all romantic or overtly sexual, it's only on a friendship basis. In long term, I want a little patience so they can cherish every little moment together.
When that friendship wall is broken and they become intimate partners I'm genuinely happy with kissing, making out, patient touches to build up the anticipation, using fingers and tongues. For at least Riley there's an emphasis on curiosity, exploration and experimentation. She's never been in a romantic relationship with a girl before so it's a little new to her. She may be a natural love or she may be awkward at first and need a little time to figure out what works and what her partner needs.
I'm not tremendously into dicks or strap-ons unfortunately. I'm hoping for a fun unexpected romance high on emotions with a deep intimate connection between the characters. The emotions are the most gratifying part of the story for me. The excitement of getting to know someone new, the slight awkwardness and fear from wondering whether they'll like her or how the new girl feels about her interests. The comfort of making a true friend. I probably lean towards it being a wholesome centric story about wonder, curiosity, playfulness, innocence and joy. I'm more than happy to include drama to make it interesting. If we want to include small town bigotry regarding their relationship, rumors being spread, religious parents who are trying to end their friendship, bullying.
Both first person and third person perspectives are fine! I've written fun stories in both. If you wanted to play a shorter story that's more focused on the physical relationship I would suggest beginning just before the first kiss and making it a steamy sexual fling. I'm open to trying short term first to see whether we're comfortable committing to a long term story. I realize this kind of story isn't for everyone, there's no creatures or guns or magical fantasy. There's the potential to add those things if you can make a convincing case. I want something more boring like a gay romance novel or Hallmark movie. It's more for a partner who is emotionally mature and comfortable expressing them in a wide range of ways. I can get super absorbed in a good story and it inspires me to write a bunch. Going from the characters introducing each other to sharing the first kiss is an amazing process.
I worry sometimes that I'm overwhelming, I want to find someone eager to brainstorm and collaborate. We should discuss the character's interests and what kind of drama or conflicts we need to insert in the story to make it more interesting. A long term story like this is a big commitment, I rarely ghost because getting closure is kind of important to me. I get upset if I don't know what happens. But I'm not going to be sending you any messages if you lose interest or become too overwhelmed to write.
I'm not sure where I would prefer to play, either here or on F-List ideally. We can write only using notes or only using chat or using a mixture of both. I'd rather not use Discord but I know it's popular and it is an option as well. I'm not sure what kind of response my post will generate, I'll my best to be as inclusive as possible, in any case I hope you have a great day!!
