Good places to get character drawings?

Hey all! I’m a rather experienced role player, but as far as characters go I’ve always stuck to descriptions when it comes to their appearance. Recently however I’ve had this idea of creating a request thread with no prompts, only images. The person responding to the request thread would then just pick the image(s) that they most like, and we can build a story around them together!

Problem is, since I don’t really have much experience with character images, I don’t exactly know of any sites that would be particularly good to search through. And I know I could just “google it”, but I figured you guys might have favourite sites you use that you’d suggest I take a look at?

I would especially love something with a tags/search function. Sorta like rule34.xxx, but with more than just porn.

It doesn't have a tag search function, but it does have a search function: Artstation features good, high quality art. Most of it has the artists tag on it so I guess if art theft is something that worries you, it's easier to rationalize.

Alternatively, deviantart has a lot of art but you have to be fairly specific in your search and it admittedly does have a lot of lower quality stuff too (sorry artists). I see some people love using Pixiv but I personally don't like that website.

try pinterest if you're looking for drawn character art (lots of ai there too) and search for "character art" "male character art" "villain character art" "princess character art" or whatever you're looking for and then click on the pics you like and look through similar pics. you might get sucked into a rabbit hole really fast tho, just warning ya! pin them to a board so you can look through them later, like dion suggested under here!

Oh, Reverie has a good point. Pinterest works well, and it helps to sometimes look for collections that other people made that bundles 'similar' art into 1 collection so you can sift a little easier.

I use pinterest a lot for my art stuff and character design. I also recommend gelbooru-- there's definitely an 'adult' spin to it, but they have more than just porn on there, a good mix!

I've turned to Safebooru for a lot of my RP character art. Most of the time I don't need something sexually explicit, and for most forums I've been on, they allow you to insert an image from the site instead of linking to the page. The downside is that it doesn't allow some more risque art, so its selection is much more limited than other sites I've used like Gelbooru and Danbooru.
