It had been a long, long trip.
Matt could feel his legs slowly starting to feel a bit sore, which wasn't so strange considering that he had been walking all day. But that was just one of the things you could expect when you went backpacking. You couldn't always count on people being willing to pick up a young hitchhiker, and when that didn't happen and you were low on cash, there was little to do but walk. And he actually didn't mind it. During this trip, he had experienced so much more than he had ever imagined he would have if he had stayed home and started school as planned. His horizons had been broadened, and he had met many people in unlikely places. For now, all he needed was to reach the next town - only a mile or so left to walk anyway - and find some cheap hostel or the like.
He didn't seem to be much older than 18 as he walked down the road with his small backpack, containing little more than the bare necessities, starting to see the edges of a town in the horizon. But he had a sort of anonymous handsome look to him. He was somewhat short, not reaching much higher than 5'5'', but he was clearly fit, and had a charmingly boyish look. His hair, a dark blonde, was semi-long and seemed to reach his cheeks, curling slightly around his head. At the moment, he was sparingly clad. A pair of jean shorts covered his knees, and the t-shirt he had put on was a plain white sans the symbol on front - not one that meant anything, but just one he had found interesting when he had bought it.
Finally reaching the town, he started looking around for something that indicated it was a hotel, or even a bed-and-breakfast of some kind. Considering it seemed to be out in the middle of nowhere, it was a fancy town. Not very large, but had a look like a neighbourhood in a larger city, the streets were clean and, as he soon noticed, almost empty. He arched an eyebrow at this, finding the lack of life sort of odd considering it was only around 7 PM. Nonetheless, he kept an eye out for a map of the place or someone he could ask for directions.
