This will be my thread for RP characters going forward. I have had a handful in various stages of development for quite some time now, so I am hoping this will serve as a convenient repository for them. What tales will they tell? That's for us to find out, isn't it?

All characters subject to change.

Robin Morris

(Art to come)

Gender: Female (transgender)
Pronouns: she/her
Orientation: Lesbian
Age: 19
Birthday: September 9th
Species: Human
Height: 67 inches (5'7")/170 cm
Weight: 140 pounds/63.5 kilograms
Hair: Blonde, chest-length, straight
Eyes: Light blue
Build: Lithe
Occupation: College student
Fashion sense: Turtleneck shirts, opaque leggings, pleated skirts, simple designs and colors
Likes: Music (pop and folk), sweet scents, autumn
Dislikes: Physical activity, sweating, summer
Preferred RP genre/setting: Modern-day drama, college
Erotic RP?: Yes
Personality: Robin puts on a face of general acceptability; she tries to play sweet and considerate to others, extremely accommodating for any situation, often trying to downplay her own role in things. She comes across as bright and sociable, and gravitates towards stereotypical feminine activities like karaoke and shopping. She never raises her voice, takes great effort in maintaining her appearance, and her academic excellence has put her on the fast track towards a spot on the dean's list and a promising career.

All of this is a convenient mask for Robin; her sociable and accommodating nature is a result of her inferiority complex. Whatever actions she takes are with the unstated goal that doing so will help her fit in and find acceptance. Any mistake she makes, she treats as a harbinger for the end of her social life and prospects. She cannot stand being in a position where she is anything less than well liked by her peers. Thus she keeps any and all of her frustrations to herself, and doubles down on being a model citizen. Though it sometimes feels like a cage, Robin finds it a necessary one to keep her from the far worse alternative of ostracization.

Robin is a stealth non-op trans girl; she has made every attempt to keep her status a secret, and has so far passed. Of all her secrets, this is the one she most fears getting out; she places an inordinate emphasis on acceptance and sisterhood with other cis girls, feeling they are the model she has to live up to, and stifling any and all deviations from that model. This is easier said than done, however, when she finds herself trapped between seeking that acceptance, and her overwhelming romantic and sexual attraction to other women. She allows herself to at least play in that romantic fantasy, so long as it remains chaste. Sexual relationships, while intensely desired, are considered off-limits to her; engaging in them would only expose her secret.

Backstory: Robin found herself questioning her gender a few years back; she constantly felt that she would be much happier as a woman. Though she had received pushback from her parents, they ultimately relented, and let her present as she wished for the majority of her high school life. This led to severe bullying and the loss of many of her friends. Even when things died down, Robin could not escape her past and origin; everyone knew who she once was, and hated being seen as anything resembling a boy.

When she began seeking out college recommendations, a particular all-girls academy stood out to her. It was far away, far from anyone who once knew her, and if she could blend in while on campus, it would be the perfect validation for her. Her parents tried to talk her out of it, but once again humored her, under the condition that she present results; if she were to fail, wasting that hard earned tuition, then she would be sent back immediately. On the other side, the school was historically very strict about who could be admitted; if she were exposed, there was every possibility that she would be expelled. Even if she weren't, there was no doubt in Robin's mind that the ostracization would continue. Despite this, she set herself to walk this tightrope.

A year has passed since Robin made it into this academy, and no one suspects a thing. She has amassed a fair few friends and glowing marks academically and socially. That is not to say she has not faced difficulties; she has had to weasel her way out of various physical education classes, and has opted for very few extracurricular activities, particularly those involving changing rooms. Still, she has managed to successfully overwrite her previous life, and hopes to keep everything about her past a secret. She has finally found a place where she belongs, so long as she plays by the rules, keeps her head down, and stays in line. As long as she doesn't slip up, if no one discovers her, Robin's life will be perfect.

But that's a big "if".

Marina Vaselle

(Art to come)

Gender: Female (cisgender)
Pronouns: she/her
Orientation: Lesbian
Age: 30
Birthday: 45th day of winter
Species: Half-elf
Height: 68 inches (5'8")/173 cm
Weight: 150 pounds/68 kilograms
Hair: Black, straight, shoulder-length
Eyes: Sea green
Build: Toned
Occupation: Drifter, Sodden Witch, Agent of Qalae
Fashion sense: Tunic, leggings, warm undershirt, cloak
Likes: Sophie, cooking, personal freedom
Dislikes: Eckard, social decorum, nobles
Preferred RP genre(s): Fantasy (dark fantasy)
Erotic?: Maybe
Personality: Marina is a rather thorny person, jaded after all she had to endure. While she is able to wear a mask of respectability when the situation arises, in casual conversation she is crude and sardonic, and makes it well known how she feels about things. She has little patience for less than direct answers, and finds it difficult to trust anyone. She is not so reckless as to start a fight she knows she can’t win, she tends to throw herself into the fray more than is sane for a woman of her constitution and focus; her rage is what drives her in combat, which means she is not always thinking of what is effective, but what will satisfy her. She is not above killing others or threatening for information, or even to satisfy her anger.

That is not to say she does not find joy in anything; she occasionally takes delight in teasing others, and despite her fury towards the Meadowlarks and much of the world around her, she does still hold a fondness for Sophie. What’s more, she finds herself sympathetic to the “monsters” of the world; people who were shunned by society for being different, whether by the circumstances of their birth, their worldview, or the ways in which they cope.

Marina’s fatal flaw is her selfishness; she refuses to change herself for the sake of others, and places her own personal happiness above all else. Her anger manifests as a result of being denied that happiness, and does not take losing anything else especially well.

Backstory: Born to an all-human family, Marina's pointed ears were a reminder of her mother's infidelity to her siblings and the man who raised her (he never considered himself her father, and she didn't either). She worked tirelessly for their approval, hoping she would be accepted if she was as selfless as possible, but never earned it, until she was kicked out of the house when she came of age. She spent a handful of years on the streets, bouncing from oddjob to oddjob, until she was accepted as a live-in maid for a noble family, the Meadowlarks. Though the master and lady of the house, Eckard and Anise, remained skeptical of her, she had earned the job due to their daughter Sophie's favoritism.

For four years, Marina served the Meadowlarks as diligently and politely as possible; while she had failed in earning her own family's approval, perhaps she would earn it by living up to the impossibly high standards of the nobles. Yet despite all her wants and needs being set aside, she always yearned for a reward. When Sophie admitted her affections for her maid, Marina thought this would be it, and allowed herself to indulge in this private, secret happiness.

One day, Eckard lured Marina out to sea under the impression she was attending a fishing trip. By the time she realized it was a trap, it was too late; his knife had plunged into her, and she was cast overboard into sea. Unsure of how he had discovered their relationship, Marina's reaction was not fear or despair, but rage; she had thrown away all her desires, lived purely by the rules set by others, for the sake of others, and the one time she had sought something of her own, she was denied it. As she drowned, she swore that, if she could have another chance, she would not make that mistake again.

This rage attracted a deep sea entity known as the Sodden One. Fascinated by her anger, they offered Marina a deal; they'd spare her life and grant her incredible power, as long as she served as their agent on the surface, exploring the concept of "warmth" in all of its meanings. Marina enthusiastically accepted the deal. When she finally returned to shore, the Meadowlarks had disappeared. Furious, she ransacked the manor and used the money to equip herself for the journey. To this day, she has yet to find them, but she has not forgotten the injustice done to her. Marina has made a reputation for herself as the Sodden Witch, a powerful mage with a talent for both water magic and the sword. Many have described her as a monster; she is very glad to hear that.

Claire Winters

Claire Winters by Hanno.jpg
(Art by Hanno)

CONTENT WARNINGS: This character is subject to several disturbing themes, including depression, homophobia, self harm and suicide.

Gender: Female (cisgender)
Pronouns: she/her
Orientation: Lesbian
Age: 20
Birthday: December 6th
Species: Human
Height: 5'5" (65 inches/165 cm)
Weight: 130 pounds/54 kilograms
Hair: Long, straight, black
Eyes: Gray
Build: Slender
Occupation: Currently unemployed
Fashion sense: Drab, long sleeves and pants; solid dark colors or black
Likes: Walks at night, reading, hot cocoa
Dislikes: Warm weather, vegetables, herself
Preferred RP genre(s): Realistic drama, mild/urban fantasy
Erotic?: Yes
Personality: If melancholy had a face, it would be Claire's. She rarely reacts to much of anything with enthusiasm or excitement, instead continuing to wear the same gloomy expression that she always does. It's not that she never smiles, but it's often wry or awkward, and always fleeting. Her depression has sapped her of just about any drive or motivation to do anything; whatever dreams or aspirations she had disappeared ages ago, and she often treats her day to day life as merely floating from one moment to the next.

What she doesn't show people is just how easy it is for her to break down into tears. When the weight of everything that has been happening in her life piles onto the destructive and anxious thoughts flying around in her head, she simply buckles under it all, letting her sorrow, self-loathing and despair take over. This has gotten her yelled at by her strict parents more than once when it was in the middle of the night, so she has learned to keep it under wraps. Of course, nothing hurts worse than crying by oneself, but she's long since given up on finding someone to comfort her.

Due to Claire's upbringing, she has found herself deeply ashamed of herself; her lack of motivation, her seemingly useless nature, but above all, her sexuality. Though she often tries to indulge in it, she cannot get past the mental roadblock that she's doing something "wrong", and thus shames herself until she receives a proper "punishment". In the absence of anyone else "punishing" her for her perceived misdeeds, Claire will take it upon herself; it is not a pretty sight.
Backstory: Claire was raised in a conservative household; her parents were devoutly religious narrow-minded and refused to entertain anything contradictory to their beliefs. The schools she went to in her youth weren't much better, enforcing strict gender roles and stamping down any indication of "deviant ideologies" This all came to a head when Claire discovered she liked girls. Upon seeing how gay people were treated around her, she forced herself to keep quiet.

On top of all that, Claire's attempts to pursue a literary career were dissuaded at every turn; considered impractical by her parents, dull by her peers, and incapable by her teachers, Claire internalized that she was worthless, and so were her dreams. As a result, she hasn't written much of anything for fun in years.

Late one autumn evening, Claire was admonished for perceived laziness; she had dropped out of college due to the pressure, and her job hunts were proving fruitless. All she had done for the past few months was stay in bed, maybe reading but often just staring at the wall, or taking her frustrations out on herself. But that night, she simply could not take the abuse any longer. Deciding that she was of no use to anyone, she took her car with little else but the clothes on her back. Even she has no idea where she'll wind up; maybe lost, maybe dead. Perhaps even that would be preferable to living in that gray mental fog forever.
