Darren pulled up on his motorcycle and parked in the apartment complex parking lot right in front of his apartment building. It had been a long day at the garage, and underneath his biker jacket and gloves, he was filthy with dirt and oil from working on cars all day. He cut the engine to the motorcycle and stowed his helmet away into one of the side storage boxes.
He had "hired" a helper, an elf, to watch over his apartment, keep it tidy, and prepare meals. He needed someone to cook for him when he came home dirty and tired like he was, and he'd be damned before he got a girlfriend and had her move in. Being single was the best decision he ever made, no drama or bitching that way. This girl he had brought back with him had been taught not to complain too, which made the arrangement even better.
He walked up a few flights of stairs and made his way to the door of his apartment. He inserted the key and turned the knob. Once inside he removed his biker gloves and put them on a small table in the opening doorway, and put his jacket on a set of hooks on the door. The girl had been here for a few weeks, and it seemed to him like she adjusted fairly well.
