She shouldn't feel so lonely.
Maki knows better. Her husband works hard to provide for her, and if that means he's away on work, then she needs to respect that, and keep herself occupied. Her husband is *always* thinking about her; she knows this, because he asked his father to check in on her while he's abroad for work. If that doesn't show his care, then what does? She tells herself over and over again that she's just being too needy-- she's so used to having people around after essentially raising her three half-siblings-- but it doesn't soothe the vacant ache in her chest. When they'd been married, he'd been around so often, but now...
He's only really home to sleep these days, and now he's in Europe for an extended business trip. His company is networking with several sister companies across Europe, and as their chief software developer, he's needed to ensure installation and connection go smoothly. He'll be back in three months, or so he says, and Maki can't help feeling lonely and tired and like her feelings don't matter. Each time she tries to tell him she prefers him home to living in luxury, he just laughs and writes her off, like she doesn't know what she wants, and she just--
Wants someone to care about her, and how she feels. At the very least, her father-in-law will be keeping her company for a bit, so there's that. She should really be putting her best foot forward and making the best of this, rather than pouting like a spoiled child.
It'll be okay. It's always okay once she lets herself get over it.
