CLEMENTINE DAVIS
The wheels of the jet screeched against the concrete as it landed before coming to a halt so that the passengers onboard could exit. An auburn red-haired female stood perched on the top step as the shades that adorned the top of her head moved them down to shield her light brown eyes from the sun. While her hand held the railing, she walked step by step until she reached the concrete and walked inside the busy airport now. The shades were removed from over her eyes and folded up as she sauntered over to the baggage claim area to find her two luggage bags.

Clementine was in town a day earlier considering that she wasn't scheduled to meet her boyfriend, future husband until the next day. But it had been a long while since she'd been home that she thought that she'd come back to check out the sights, sounds, and to see if anything had changed in the town. She wasn't expecting much to have changed but couldn't wait to see what had if anything.

In order to not foil the surprise that she was in town already, she booked a hotel room and wanted to have a little bit of fun for the day and night. Even though she has been out of town traveling for research purposes due to her job.

Once she was settled in her hotel room after a day of walking the streets and staying hidden, night had fallen, and it was time to get out her evening wear. Clementine's slim figure body adorned a white dress with half sleeves, and white heels on her feet along with a white trench coat and clutch purse to match. If anyone knew her, they knew that she had to have everything color-coordinated.

Outside of the hotel, she walked to the curb and held her hand out for a taxi, stopping one almost instantly. "Reginald's, please." She informed the driver of her desired destination and he nodded his head and drove her to the bar across town. It was seemingly packed as always and after paying him the fare along with a little extra, Clementine emerged from the taxi, closing the door behind her, and walked inside the bar. Inside, her eyes scanned the premises as she searched on where to sit but the bar definitely looked promising. Her ears twitched at the sound of celebratory cheers coming from one booth and shot a smile in their direction with her red-stained lips pressed firmly together.

At the bar, one of the bartenders quickly scurried over toward her and greeted her with a smile. "Sex on the beach," Clementine ordered, wiggling her finger for the bartender to lean down closer as she whispered in his ear. "And make it sexy." With a giggle, she removed her trench coat, folded it somewhat neatly, and placed it on the stool to her left along with her clutch purse. Her eyes caught sight of the men from earlier departing from one another but one came over to the bar as soon as the bartender came back with her alcoholic beverage and she reached to retrieve some money to pay the fellow behind the bar.

But then again, another idea pinged in her mind. "You guys were awfully cheery." She muttered softly, noticing from her earlier observation, but loud enough for the gentleman to know that the statement was meant for him.

"What were you guys celebrating?" Clementine inquired further while shifting her body and gaze to be parallel with the gentleman now, a brow cocked upward while a smirk danced mischievously at the corner of her lips.

"I am afraid that I was the main object of the celebration. It couldn't be my actions as, the nature of what I did is classified so those who knew couldn't talk about it in the public space and those who weren't obliged by secrecy wouldn't even understand the layman summary. But I have done a groundbreaking surgery recently, after months of preparation and it had been successful. Can't talk details but with methods like these the medicine is going beyond trying to fix defects and into improving the sensory and mental capacities of human kind. It sounds like sci-fi material... And it sure felt that way when we figured out the patent, prepared the object and led the procedure, but it is real."

An older man by the bar said. His words were soft but spoke about the power of the man, power of his intellect but also physical power contained in that broad, muscular frame. Thaddeus, as that was his name, was definitely blessed with good genes both in mental as well as physical traits. And he obviously was attractive to her. As it seems like a truism to claim her fiancรฉ was her type.
And if she looked closer she would notice some familiarity in his face. As her soon to be husband was similar to that man. And the reason was no mystery either - he was his son.

So, unknowingly, Clementine was just flirting with her father in law.

"Oh but that sounds awfully vain. Point is, I guess the celebration was quite justified, all things considered. And why is a girl like you, sitting alone by the bar and having enough time to inquire about old men and their celebrations? It is no secret you are attractive and could talk with pretty much any other man. I know my son would have loved you. So why pay attention to good old me?"

He was definitely right about that. His son not only would have loved her. He actually did love her.

Her head nodded at every single the older gentleman uttered from his lips as she was really intrigued. As he spoke, her eyes studied the male's facial features and noticed that he reminded him of her fiance, which was probably a coincidence since she missed him. Clementine continued to eye him before taking another sip from her beverage and once he was done, she took the opportunity to respond. "A groundbreaking surgery? Sounds like you were deserving of that celebration." She held up her own glass and sat it back on the counter.

Clementine shrugged her shoulders at his first questions but was unprepared for the ones that followed. She let his questions linger in the air, and then her lips parted, offering him responses to each. "I am in town earlier than expected, so I decided to peruse the city." Clementine pawed her hand downward at him once he called her attractive but her ears twitched whenever he had brought up his son. "Not that I was paying attention but the celebratory roar caught my attention more than anything." A truthful response before she licked her lips and continued. "Is your son a doctor, as well?"

She inquired while waving her hand to flag down a bartender. Her glass was nearly empty, and while she was about to head out, this older gentleman piqued her interest right about now.

"Maybe let's not dwell too much on my son. He is about to get married. I don't know his fiancรฉe yet but I wouldn't want to make her a competition... Even as pretty as you are. I am about to go for a longer leave with them, in order to meet her and give my final approval. Not that he technically needs it in modern times but, well, marriage is always easier when your old man approves, isn't it? Especially on the money front."

He didn't know exactly why he deflected the topic of his son so quickly, a topic he himself introduced. But the girl in front of him had undeniable allure and he could have said that he was trying to save his heir from unnecessary doubts as to his choice... But deep down he might understand that the reason was far less benevolent. He was interested in that girl because of himself and not his son. And he should have cared about his own marriage more than his son's.

"Anyway with topic of my son and my surgery being out, why don't we talk more about other matters. You said you're in the city early. So I understand you're not from around here. So, what was the reason you came here?'

Her ears clung to every word falling from his lips, making a lightbulb light up in her head. Could it be? No, this couldn't be his father. Either way, she sat still and focused on him, nodding. "What happens if you don't approve?" Clementine inquired as she brought her beverage to her lips to take a small sip.

She brought the drink back down to sit on the countertop and tapped the side of it with her finger. Some earlier words from the gentleman still resonated with her because of how oddly close it seemed to a similar situation between her and her fiance.

She was snapped back and away from her thoughts by him speaking again, hearing his question that made her shrug his shoulders. "I am from around here but I left for work." Clementine openly spoke as she turned her full attention to him. "I came to surprise someone but that can wait until tomorrow. Tonight, I just wanted a little bit of fun." She let those words linger in the air for a moment, smirking as her hand lifted to wave down the bartender.

Clementine ordered another beverage before she turned back to him. "You mentioned that you were going on a longer leave. Any place in particular you're going for this final approval?" She questioned, leaning in a bit closer with interest because this was going to determine who he if he was her fiance's father or not, once and for all.

"What will happen if I don't approve? As I said, probably nothing. Even if he were to marry someone that would cheat on him without second thought or squander all his money, it is not my place to punish him further. In modern world, rotten judgment is its own punishment, not a reason to be excommunicated from one's family. Neither a parent has such prerogatives towards his adult children, nor can a son chastise his old folks for their misbehavior..."

He was slowly but steadily hinting that he is thinking about misbehaving himself.

"I am not going to talk about my travel plans in a place with so many listening ears... But say, miss, are you interested enough in talking about that topic that you would risk discussing it in more private setting? I would understand if a man like me would not be a proper sort of fun for a young woman like yourself... Or if the nature of your other obligations mean that no man is appropriate sort of fun for you... But I would insist that this information should not be for everyone's ears..."

Was he merely cautious? Or was he somehow aware that revealing that information too soon could be their last possible turn be their last possible turn before entering the highway to infidelity? Hard to say. Perhaps a bit of both...

She listened to him with intent, noticing the careful movement of his words as she eyed her beverage. Clementine tapped the side of her glass with her finger as he definitely checkmated her with his own words. She'd be lying to herself if she didn't exactly like it especially coming from a man, who obvious know what he wanted, or better yet, what she needed.

"A private setting?" Her interest was piqued as she arched a brow upward at him. "A man like you, please. Don't be modest." She chuckled as she flicked her hand downward in his direction and shrugged her shoulders. "Where to?" Clementine chugged the rest of her beverage down before she opened her to purse to pay the bartender and even told him to keep the change.

She was bold as they come, that's for sure but was she really about to go somewhere with a man, who might potentially be her fiance's father? After his earlier words, she wondered what he would think of her if he knew who she truly was but none of that mattered right now - at least in her mind it didn't.

With a smile, she held out her hand for him to grab and lead her to wherever this private setting was. It was clear that this was a decent back-and-forth exchange that she's been missing in her life and he definitely knew what to say and how to say it. That made her really intrigued and hungry for more. So much more.

"There is a nice but not often frequented at that time of year hotel within walking distance from here. And the reason why that is, is that it is only easily accessible through walking. As this is a nice part of the city, it is a pleasurable walk and as this place has a penthouse with great view that is practically guaranteed to be available for the night, I propose we go there and discuss any more private matters... The good thing about the penthouse that's not that often used is that it is fairly affordable..."

If you generally had cash and was looking for penthouses that is. But he obviously had money and the city was indeed mostly suited for business travel but didn't have that strong of an romantic appeal. Otherwise they wouldn't be going to Paris for the trip they are planning.

Since he heard no strong protest he just led her there. The streets were indeed very pretty, especially in the evening, but there might be a thing that was more important to her than the sights. The way he held her as they walked together. Not low enough to be a creep but definitely too low for a stranger or even a friend. And the strength of the hold. That was possessive hold. At the very least it signalled to the world - that's my partner for the night. If not more...
