Amelia smiled as she quickly ran her fingers through her soft blond hair that seemed to capture every ray of light that a room encased. Today was her birthday, well, her twin brother's as well, but they had already had a party for him. Today was her day to be the center of attention and that was something she excelled at. She didn't like to think of herself as someone who would show off, but she did like to put on a good show. Combing her hair back she tied her gorgeous locks into a tight pony tail atop her head. As a finishing touch she also added a bright blue ribbon that exaggerated her blue eyes even more than her make up did. For her attire she chose to wear a tight pair of jeans, leaving little to the imagination, a white halter top, and blue high heeled shoes. "The top is a little tight...but at least it makes my breasts look bigger..." Amelia reflected as she admired herself in the mirror. First from the side and then from the front. Finally, a quick look from behind. Yep, all systems were a go.
"You look hot and you know it. Come on, people are waiting downstairs and you know how anxious mom gets when you make her wait." Her twin brother Daniel said from where he was leaning against the bathroom door with his arms folded across his chest. While they were together, you could definitely see their relation, but separate them and no one would even guess. Not only were they physically different, but intellectually they were nowhere near the same level. Daniel didn't think of his sister as stupid, rather she was highly gullible and easily influenced. Between the two, Amelia was like a puppet and Daniel was the puppet master. Since they were young, this relationship had gotten Amelia into trouble many times. She loved her brother and would do what she all that she could to make him happy. Amelia knew that she had an older brother, but unfortunately, she couldn't really remember much about him and he had never shown any interest in getting to know her. While he crossed her mind from time to time, she never really dwelled on it.
Daniel was a tall sixteen year old with dark brown spike hair, bright blue eyes, and wore predominantly darker clothing. He wasn't gothic by any stretch, he just didn't like the way bright colors looked on a person. He thought that the darkness brought out more of a person's soul and was far more calming.
"Yeah, I know, I just wanted to make sure. Alright, lets go!" She cheered, bouncing in her heels as she grabbed his arm and ran downstairs to the festivities. The house had been decorated with blue and yellow streamers, her school's colors and therefore her favorite colors. She wouldn't be head cheerleader without this sort of spirit. However, the real party was in the backyard where her father was making ribs and all of her friends were chilling to the latest R&B hits while enjoying the latest helping of gossip. Walking outside, Amelia threw her hands into the air and yelled, "Hey yall! Party girls here, let the party begin!" She was received by her usual group of 'friends', some genuinely happy to see her, some were not. Being at the top of the totem poll meant many were below her in the social scene and many wanted to be in her position. However, she wasn't there because she was vindictive or mean, but because anyone who ever had a problem with her was almost always overwhelmed by her kind nature. She didn't like rumors, she was nice to everyone she met, even if they weren't always nice to her, and she was always happy.
"Hey girl! Now that you sixteen you think your daddy let me take you on a date?" Andrew called obnoxiously from across the yard. He was football player, a linebacker if Amelia recalled correctly, but honestly Amelia had no interest in him. He had no manners, was a bit on the hefty side, was sloppy, and was blatantly annoying. However, Amelia smiled and replied,
"I'm afraid you're too late, I'm taken. Oh Cindy, how was the track tournament?!" She quickly lied and changed the subject to go stand next to her best friend who wore a big grin on her face.
"Lying again? That's not like you. Then, you couldn't hurt the feelings of a fly by telling it that it's too small. Honestly. So, how you enjoying your big day? By the way, love the top!" Her friend smiled, grabbing her by the arm and walking with her through the crowd of friends to the snack table.
"Totally loving it, I think it's a big hit! How about you? You know, Jake has had his eye on you since he got here. You should go talk to him!" Amelia smiled, encouraging her friend to take the initiative that she knew that she wanted to take.
"Really?! Oh my god, how does my hair look?!"
"Like you just stepped out of a salon! Go, I'll be here when you get back!" Amelia encouraged before nudging her friend in Jake's direction. She watched her friend nervously walk over to him with a timid smile as the sound of two motorcycles ripped through the neighborhood and the party. However, the sound soon stopped and Amelia thought no more about it until a few minutes later.
Having danced to three or four songs with some of her best friends, Amelia went to the house to check on how the ribs were coming along. However, before she made it, she noticed two hot older guys standing with her father and drinking a Captain Morgan. Walking over to Daniel she nudged him with her elbow and asked, "Who are those two? I don't recognize either of them...."
"Hm? Oh, that's-"
