Aleta let out a soft yawn. Getting up and out of bed was the worst of each day but there was nothing she could do about it. With her parents having moved away, there was only the alarm that would wake her up. A little bit she was regretting her decision to stay behind so she had not to change school. The rent for the small apartment was paid by her parents but there was not much left for more than her absolute necessary things like food or the odd shopping for new clothes.
At the very least, nobody was commanding her around, after school. Not that Aleta had a lot of time on her hands after school, she did tend to spend it with her schoolbooks and studied a lot. Luckily, that was still some hours in the future as she got ready. A light coffee with milk and a hint of sugar was good to wake up while she ate a small breakfast. An hour later she was already sitting in the classroom for the first class of the day. Sitting in the middle of the room, she was almost invisible. Not in the line of sight of the teacher, at the back of the room. Not in whispering distance at the front to talk with them or at the sides where somehow the chatty ones and jokesters were sitting. No, there was barely anyone in her class who would remember her face or even her name. At the very least, the day at school did tend to go without any major hickups, bumping into someone and dropping all her stuff aside. No one bothered her, she was simply not interesting enough to pick on but no one was inviting her to anything fun or interesting either.
Another good thing was, the brunette had no activities planned in the afternoon, having her leave the school early. It was on her way home, when she checked her messages, if she had missed something from her parents, that she noticed something strange. On her phone was an app she had not seen in the morning and surely had not installed by herself. The symbol was something she was sure, she would not have forgotten, since it was a stylized heart, like on playing cards, with an arrow piercing it and what must be a second heart right behind the first. The name was "Cupid's Game", like that little angel with the bow. "What is this?" she wondered and tapped it to open the app.
