Tara Evans was nervous as she went into work. She worked for a large financial institution in her city.. it financed at least half of everything that happened in the city and was known internationally. She had worked for them for quite some time, and managed to go from the secretarial pool to being an assistant fairly high up the chain. Her paycheck had grown, as had her standard of living.
Pulling back her blonde hair, revealing her gleaming diamond earrings that shone against her pale skin, she tied it back before going back to clutching her purse tightly against her, protecting it. Since it held $50,000, she saw a good reason for protecting it.
She had hit a hard time earlier in the year, coming close to losing her home, her car, and everything else due to a couple of bad investments. And that was when she came across her idea. With some creative budgeting, she could cut her expenses enough that she would eventually make some money to pay back what was owed, but if she didn't pay it back immediately she would lose it all and never be able to pay it back. As a single woman with all of her family deceased, she had no one else she could turn to.
So she skimmed from the bank. She took a bit from each account that fell across her desk, adjusting the numbers so that it would never show. And before she knew it, she had every penny she needed. She hated doing it and had always counted on her job to keep her safe, protected, and living well.. and then she was biting it by stealing, but she hadn't seen any other choice at all.
But today was a good day.. today, she finally had the money to pay the bank back and make everything right. With all the money back in place, no one would be hurt and finally she could be free of her guilt! She would make everything right.. Just punching a few numbers into her computer and placing the money in the vault would put everything back in place. She set her purse on her chair at her desk and logged into the computer, quickly navigating to the financial section that would let her put all the money back in its place.
