Question/suggestion about filtering forum posts

How possible or hard would it be to make a filter by online status?

I would like to be able to respond to forums requests of people on line first, then respond to offline people after that.

'Online' is something of a hack.
Someone appearing online might have shut off their device twenty-nine minutes ago. Someone offline might have push notifications on and hop on immediately.

I like the concept, but there is probably a more reliable indicator.

for me its about filtering people who are more likely to respond right away. If you are online now, I am more likely to get a reply to a forum post. Its not a big deal more just a way to weed out only getting a reply maybe days from now, and getting a reply right away
