"Yo Alicia, Great job tonight" Mac the diner owner smiled and complimented the girl who had been working there since she was thirteen years old.
"Thank's Mac, Have a good night." Alicia smiled brightly and sat the large paper bag with dinner from the diner in the basket of her bicycle and rode home. Her ride was short but still it gave her time to clear her head and think about what was happening and her thoughts always revolved around the same subject, her father. As she arrived at home she sighed softly glad to see her dad's car was not in the driveway and the lights were off in the house.
After she put her bike back in the garage, she headed inside through the back door and set the food on the counter. A look of disgust curled her naturally pouting lips as she looked at the mess of beer cans and dirty dishes her father left all over the place and she started cleaning up.
"Damnit dad," she murmured under her breath. She knew things had been really hard for them since her mom ran off with one of her dad's friends and she had done the best she could to help by getting the job at the diner but her dad didn't help matters by pissing away what she brought in on beer. She sighed as she realized that he was probably at the bar getting loaded again however she realized that was not true when she heard his car pull into the driveway and heard him walk up and into the house carrying a large bag from his favorite liquor store as well as a case of beer.
