Question Why am I gray?

I recently updated my email with my current one and now I'm gray. Is this normal? I'm assuming it's a spam prevention of some kind. I'm just curious if my name will go back to normal, as well as will be able to post in my request threads (or any other threads not in the welcome center for that matter)?
