Pacing her room one last time Finn had checked, rechecked, and even triple checked her bag making sure she had everything. “Summer clothes, check. Bikini, check, phone, check. Shoes, check. Charger. Tablet… tablet…” She said to herself groaning and she went in search for her tablet eventually finding it on a pile of clothes in her closet.
“Finn, are you ready?” Her mother called down the hallway as she went to put her tablet in her carryon beside the corresponding charger cord. “Almost!” She yelled back. Finishing her mental checklist she figured she was as ready as she was going to be.

Hoisting her book bag she was using on the plane onto her back, and carrying her suitcase she shut off the lights in her room as she made her way down the dark hallway. Her mother was standing by the doorway to their home as she’d exited the hallway. “You’re going to wear that?” she asked with a sigh as she looked at her daughter. She was wearing a pair of black yoga pants and a plush sweatshirt, her long apple red hair was pulled up into a high ponytail. “Whatever, just don’t complain when we land and it’s not freezing and snowing. The teen rolled her eyes. “I’m aware. Don’t worry I won’t.” She said slipping on her sneakers as they waited for her dad to pull up with the car. She decided to make sure all the lights were off, and as she finished she heard a honk. “He’s here.” She said excitedly as they gathered their belongings into the. And She got in the back seeing she was sitting beside the neighbor.

Greeting him politely she took her phone from her pocket messaging the few cousins she was close to. The ride was long and uneventful and eventually her phone pinged grinning as she read the message, the grin soon slipped from her lips. “Mom, you know Cristiana, and Max won’t be there…” She said almost whining as her phone pinged again. “And neither will Mattie.” She announced, her hand falling to the seat, the phone falling to the floor. “Sorry sweetie, as far as I know only a few other kids will be there. Ruthie, and Kaden. I believe Jess.” Her father told her, causing the teen to sigh more exaggeratedly. “Yes I know dear you’re life is over.” Her mother chided before returning her attention back to her phone. The trip was quiet after that. After an hour of driving the family arrived in front of the airport. Her father had eventually found a place to park by their boarding area and getting out he unpacked everything, her and her mother dragging the luggage over to get it checked and get their boarding passes.

Glad when they’d finished Finn watched as her dad and the neighbor chatted briefly before he passed him the keys. “Let’s goooo.” The red haired teen whined wanting to get in. Her parents nodded and each took their own carry on. It was an irritating 45 minutes in line but they made it through to the other side, and with 20 minutes to find their gate. Which they were informed was on the other side of the terminal. They had to hurry and managed to make it with 5 minutes till they would be boarded. Still catching their breaths the flight attendant called the sections to board. Finn had to admit she was excited even if her friends wouldn’t be there. She could get some sun, swim, and play in the sand. Standing in line she was soon on the plane and getting her bag under the seat in front of her and sitting by the window.

After everyone was settled they were ready for take off. The flight was long for a teenage girl who couldn’t use her cell phone. It was nearly 5 hours. She ended up closing her eyes.

The next time her eyes opened she looked out the window seeing the sun and sand below, the seatbelt sign clicked on and then a voice spoke over the intercom telling them to get ready to land. It was a bumpy ride, but they were soon on the ground taxiing towards the terminal. She grinned as she watched the people moving around on the ground.

Soon they were parked and getting ready to deboard. Her father insisted they stay seated and wait for the others to get their stuff and leave before they could. Once they were able to though they were off in just a few minutes. The teen took in the sights of the airport as they made their way outside the building needing to find a shuttle to the resort they would be staying at. “Dad, look, that sign says shuttles to the resort are that way.” She pointed. Her parents nodded and they made their way. Relieved when they’d found the vehicle and were sitting on it simply waiting to head to their final destination.

30 Minutes Later
The shuttle was pulling up to the resort and the family was happy to get off. Gathering their luggage they hurried to the front desk and got their room numbers. The adults were all in rooms on the 2nd floor, the kids had a larger room on the 3rd floor. So after getting her key she didn’t waste any time making her way to the elevator. Getting on and pressing the silver button she got more anxious as the door opened stepping off she turned to make her way down the long carpeted hallway. Standing in front of her room she opened the door sighing as it was empty. Putting her bags along the wall she pulled down her leggings, and pulled off the sweatshirt as she’d had her bikini on underneath. Revealing a red ruffled top and boyshort styled bottom with a red and white pattern. Grabbing her towel and her carryon she made sure she had the room before leaving again. Making her way out of the hotel, she happened to walk by a family with a familiar dark haired girl. “Hey jess. I’m going to the beach, wanna come?” she asked the 9-year-old girl who looked at her weird till she told her who she was and she gave her a surprised look. “Sure.” She said looking to her parents who nodded. She took the girl's hand and they made their way towards the sand. Running to the water laughing together as they set out their towels. The 2 sat on their towels and watched the water as the clear blue waves broke on the fine white shores. “This is beautiful.” Finn commented on the girl nodding.

Eventually another voice was heard yelling out Jess’ name. The girls looked back seeing Ruthie, a 13-year old girl with her 5 year old brother Kaiden. Waving them over the kids gave the red haired girl the same look Jess had. Putting their towels down beside theirs the older girl got up grabbing her bag. “Watch my spot and I’ll get everyone a treat.” Making her way toward a cart selling slushies she’d seen she waited in line for her chance to order. Someone had bumped into her, but she said excuse me not paying attention till she glanced to her side realizing she knew the person who had walked into her and she suddenly felt embarrassed.

If there was something that James cherished, it was nature, be it a long walk on a beach under the magnificent sunset with the magical hues of the sun falling into a kaleidoscope of magentas, sepias, azure as it bounced off the prismatic surface of the boundless ocean stretching far into the horizon as far as the eye could witness. Therefore, it came as no surprise when he showed some excitement at the prospect of the trip that was planned. "James. I want you at your best behavior," Mother admonished, knowing how the boy was prone to a rather abrasive demeanour, particularly towards those for whom he felt a sense of antipathy. But it was what made him so popular in school: not because he was very handsome. It was neither because the boy had a way with words nor because he could weave an eloquent speech. In fact, he was not even good at any sports to be considered a jock. It was simply because James was barbaric. There had never been a fight in school that James had lost. Even the most colossal jocks would not dare a fight with this boy, who was so unassuming: he was not muscular in any way, or fat, just your average boy, but with such savage grit, it was almost intimidating.

Jack made his way towards the airport, wordlessly with his parents. They knew better than to speak much with him. The boy was often silent. Even though he spent a great deal of time among the popular ones in school, he was the one to speak the least in the group: only speaking when spoken to. The flight took off and Jack began to reminisce his previous visit to a similar place. He had spent hours on the beach at night, gazing at the pale and soothing silver lining of the moon in the deep dusk as he would draw the various constellations in the night sky with his fingers. The soothing surface of the sand, almost like a blanket as he lay sleeping on it all night was all that James looked forward to on this trip.

Placing in his earphones, he began listening to his favourite: Summer of 69. The beats of the music made James bob his head back and forth, while admiring the clouds below him, like a protective blanket enveloping mother earth in its embrace and shielding her from harm. James was lost in this reverie, away from the woes and worries that often clouded his mind. But before he could truly relish the sights, it was time to alight. They had reached the destination of their escapade and it was about time the boy tried on his swimming trunks and felt the saline seas.

Presently, James was accommodated, enduring the rather irksome long drive from the airport to their destination, it seemed to last forever, even longer than the flight itself and now he was finally stationed in his room. He was told he was to share the room with someone. How tiresome to have another to share the room. That person would try and make conversation and James will have to ignore or be churlish, which will invite another round of scolding, growing into a cyclical process where he simply has to deal with more and more scolding.

However, James put it out of his mind. This was a trouble for another day. Pulling off his shirt and pants, the boy quickly put on his crimson swimming trunks and, within moments, he was off. He may not have been the most muscular of men, but he was toned and sinewy. The bright sunlight of the day shone upon his lean stature, particularly his gaunt abdominals that were naturally visible, without much effort in the way of workout. He often was given rather awkward gazes by both girls and boys alike. And being a part of the school's gymnasts, he had naturally strong arms, with visible veins.

Flicking off some of the blonde locks that that fell across his forehead, James scratched the scar on his cheek and gazed at the azure sea before him with his own pair of azure orbs. "Ah," he thought with joy, "that's what I need. Away from it all! Just the sand, the sea, and the saline!"
That is when he noticed the cart and decided to get a taste of the slushies that he really did enjoy. They did happen to be a guilty pleasure the boy would never admit. Now that no one was looking, he was already at it, buying one. Just as he had completed his purchase, and turned, he bumped into someone.

"What the fu…" he paused, biting back his expletive and looked at the person before him. For a moment, James was simply speechless, saying nary a word and simply gazed. Something about the person had sparked something in him, something deep and inexplicable that words could simply not form. What was it? He could not place his finger upon it. He found himself gazing at her for unhealthy amounts of time: her bare waist, her legs, her breasts, her lips. Why couldn't he look away? When his eyes met hers, he realised there was something very very familiar about them. What was it? That is when it struck him. The eyes…they were the same! In an instant he blurted it out, "Finn!" he exclaimed, "Is that you?"

He had known the girl. But it had been such a long time since they had met that it felt like a lifetime. He had not met her since they were children and now….Wow! She was…Beautiful, hot, erotic! But why was she… "It has been such a long time since I have seen you," he said. Normally the boy would even avoid shaking hands with people, but with this girl, he found himself moving forth and embraced her within his strong arms.

Rosa was walking in the fine sand till she’d heard her name being called. Turning her head she saw her dark haired cousin, Ruthie chasing after her. Her cerulean eyes on the girl as she’d asked her what was wrong. The girl shook her head, “Nothing. I just wanted to let you know Aunt Mel and her family are going to be here. My mom told me this morning.” She said the red haired girl nodded not sure who exactly Mel was. “Sorry… who?” She asked sheepishly. Giving her a look the dark haired girl chuckled. “Mel is James' mother. You remember James. The guy you’d had a crus…” Ruthie was cut off with a hand pressed to her mouth. “I get it…” she said as she let her hand fall away with a faint blush to her cheeks.

“I thought you’d be excited. You used to be in love with him.” the girl continued. She remained quiet a moment nodding before she sighed heavily, and turned away continuing towards the stand. While standing in line she looked up to the clear cornflower blue sky; not a cloud could be found. “I’ll get to see him again… up close.” She said with a sigh, holding her wallet in her hand. The line for the sweet icey desserts was reasonably short.

She shook her mind of her thoughts when someone bumped into her. He had back into her but was still about to apologize as she saw he’d dropped the slushy he had just got himself. But she’d heard the beginning of a swear and she changed her mind. Looking to her side, she was about to be upset with the stranger but the person she saw… was no stranger. She went a little pale as she was face to face with James, and all his tall, blonde, muscular glory. She opened her mouth, closing it shortly after, finding she was unable to speak for a moment as they simply stared at one another. He’d eventually found his words calling out her name. She dropped her head but nodded a moment later. “Call me Rosa.” She said in a shy voice. It has been a few years since we’ve both been to a family outing.” She agreed knowing he had never acknowledged her presence at his school. Putting a smile on her lips as she looked to the ground.

“Let me get you another one. I was buying one for the kids.” She said, offering him a smile. She was surprised that he’d leaned, closer wrapping his long strong arms around her. She was unable to react immediately taking in a deep breath she relaxed herself loosely raising her arms to hold him back. After a few blissfully long moments she let go, and he’d pulled back creating the distance between them once more. “How was your trip here?” She asked, trying not to look so sheepish.

They had reached the front of the line and it took the man running the cart speaking a few times before she realized it. With a nervous giggle she apologized, looking at the many flavors. “May I have a medium mango, A medium Blue vanilla, 2 medium Orange creams…” She paused for a moment looking at James, “What can I get for you.” She said with a smile waiting for his response.

Once he’d told her she paid for everything. “Thank-you miss.” The man behind the counter said as he’d gotten started on making the slushies. The first one he’d handed her was an orange cream. She took a sip thinking it tasted really good. Next was the second, then her Blue vanilla, and the Mango, and finally James. She handed him his and got a caddy to carry the remainder, putting a cup in each of the spots. Leaving the man a few dollars for a tip they turned to walk back towards the group of younger children who were waiting for their fix of flavored sugar.

“I’m assuming you were coming to join us?” She asked, looking over at him as they walked. “It’s been so long since we’ve both been here. But it hasn’t changed a lot… “Still a beautiful place to relax and spend some time.” She commented conversationally knowing he’d loved to be outside and among nature. Giving him a smile she was happy he’d come and she’d get to spend some time with him. “I remember you prefer to do your own thing. Don’t feel you have to hang around us. I understand.” She said touching his arm offering him a smile before she’d hurried back to the small group apologizing for taking so long to bring them their treat. Passing them out she glanced back towards James to see where he might go but sat on her towel sipping on her slushy as the 3 she was with asked her an endless plethora of questions.
