Pacing her room one last time Finn had checked, rechecked, and even triple checked her bag making sure she had everything. “Summer clothes, check. Bikini, check, phone, check. Shoes, check. Charger. Tablet… tablet…” She said to herself groaning and she went in search for her tablet eventually finding it on a pile of clothes in her closet.
“Finn, are you ready?” Her mother called down the hallway as she went to put her tablet in her carryon beside the corresponding charger cord. “Almost!” She yelled back. Finishing her mental checklist she figured she was as ready as she was going to be.
Hoisting her book bag she was using on the plane onto her back, and carrying her suitcase she shut off the lights in her room as she made her way down the dark hallway. Her mother was standing by the doorway to their home as she’d exited the hallway. “You’re going to wear that?” she asked with a sigh as she looked at her daughter. She was wearing a pair of black yoga pants and a plush sweatshirt, her long apple red hair was pulled up into a high ponytail. “Whatever, just don’t complain when we land and it’s not freezing and snowing. The teen rolled her eyes. “I’m aware. Don’t worry I won’t.” She said slipping on her sneakers as they waited for her dad to pull up with the car. She decided to make sure all the lights were off, and as she finished she heard a honk. “He’s here.” She said excitedly as they gathered their belongings into the. And She got in the back seeing she was sitting beside the neighbor.
Greeting him politely she took her phone from her pocket messaging the few cousins she was close to. The ride was long and uneventful and eventually her phone pinged grinning as she read the message, the grin soon slipped from her lips. “Mom, you know Cristiana, and Max won’t be there…” She said almost whining as her phone pinged again. “And neither will Mattie.” She announced, her hand falling to the seat, the phone falling to the floor. “Sorry sweetie, as far as I know only a few other kids will be there. Ruthie, and Kaden. I believe Jess.” Her father told her, causing the teen to sigh more exaggeratedly. “Yes I know dear you’re life is over.” Her mother chided before returning her attention back to her phone. The trip was quiet after that. After an hour of driving the family arrived in front of the airport. Her father had eventually found a place to park by their boarding area and getting out he unpacked everything, her and her mother dragging the luggage over to get it checked and get their boarding passes.
Glad when they’d finished Finn watched as her dad and the neighbor chatted briefly before he passed him the keys. “Let’s goooo.” The red haired teen whined wanting to get in. Her parents nodded and each took their own carry on. It was an irritating 45 minutes in line but they made it through to the other side, and with 20 minutes to find their gate. Which they were informed was on the other side of the terminal. They had to hurry and managed to make it with 5 minutes till they would be boarded. Still catching their breaths the flight attendant called the sections to board. Finn had to admit she was excited even if her friends wouldn’t be there. She could get some sun, swim, and play in the sand. Standing in line she was soon on the plane and getting her bag under the seat in front of her and sitting by the window.
After everyone was settled they were ready for take off. The flight was long for a teenage girl who couldn’t use her cell phone. It was nearly 5 hours. She ended up closing her eyes.
The next time her eyes opened she looked out the window seeing the sun and sand below, the seatbelt sign clicked on and then a voice spoke over the intercom telling them to get ready to land. It was a bumpy ride, but they were soon on the ground taxiing towards the terminal. She grinned as she watched the people moving around on the ground.
Soon they were parked and getting ready to deboard. Her father insisted they stay seated and wait for the others to get their stuff and leave before they could. Once they were able to though they were off in just a few minutes. The teen took in the sights of the airport as they made their way outside the building needing to find a shuttle to the resort they would be staying at. “Dad, look, that sign says shuttles to the resort are that way.” She pointed. Her parents nodded and they made their way. Relieved when they’d found the vehicle and were sitting on it simply waiting to head to their final destination.
Eventually another voice was heard yelling out Jess’ name. The girls looked back seeing Ruthie, a 13-year old girl with her 5 year old brother Kaiden. Waving them over the kids gave the red haired girl the same look Jess had. Putting their towels down beside theirs the older girl got up grabbing her bag. “Watch my spot and I’ll get everyone a treat.” Making her way toward a cart selling slushies she’d seen she waited in line for her chance to order. Someone had bumped into her, but she said excuse me not paying attention till she glanced to her side realizing she knew the person who had walked into her and she suddenly felt embarrassed.

30 Minutes Later
The shuttle was pulling up to the resort and the family was happy to get off. Gathering their luggage they hurried to the front desk and got their room numbers. The adults were all in rooms on the 2nd floor, the kids had a larger room on the 3rd floor. So after getting her key she didn’t waste any time making her way to the elevator. Getting on and pressing the silver button she got more anxious as the door opened stepping off she turned to make her way down the long carpeted hallway. Standing in front of her room she opened the door sighing as it was empty. Putting her bags along the wall she pulled down her leggings, and pulled off the sweatshirt as she’d had her bikini on underneath. Revealing a red ruffled top and boyshort styled bottom with a red and white pattern. Grabbing her towel and her carryon she made sure she had the room before leaving again. Making her way out of the hotel, she happened to walk by a family with a familiar dark haired girl. “Hey jess. I’m going to the beach, wanna come?” she asked the 9-year-old girl who looked at her weird till she told her who she was and she gave her a surprised look. “Sure.” She said looking to her parents who nodded. She took the girl's hand and they made their way towards the sand. Running to the water laughing together as they set out their towels. The 2 sat on their towels and watched the water as the clear blue waves broke on the fine white shores. “This is beautiful.” Finn commented on the girl nodding.Eventually another voice was heard yelling out Jess’ name.
