"Thank you for the meal, Makima-san!"

"Ah, free food is the best food, isn't it?"

One by one, they're filing out of the bustling izakaya, many of the Public Security officers drunk after their drinking competition. Makima swept the floor with them, of course, and remains the only one completely unfazed after out-drinking even the burliest of their male employees. That's to be expected, though. No one (alive, anyway) has seen Makima so much without a strand of hair out of place. Even now, as she watches a drunk Denji, the newest object of her interests, be whisked away by Himeno, there's not even the slightest change to her expression to express her annoyance. Whatever might have slipped through is immediately smoothed over, pressed by the consolation that even with another woman, Denji will think of her. She made certain of that, by giving him a healthy dose of hope that evening, muddling his mind so she was all that would ever be on it.
For such a horny boy, Denji truly is a simpleton with feelings. She assumes his addiction to sex really just stems from a lack of love in his life, so she feeds into it, standing in as the feminine figure he probably needed in his life, while remaining unattainable so Denji never loses his thrill of the chase. So she waves the blond goodbye with a pleasant smile, and turns her attention back to the stragglers. Many of them dispersed already, not many wanting to stick around where Makima was, but there was Aki, left behind now that his roommates had gone off on their own.
From the pocket of her coat, Makima fishes out a sleek, matte black lighter and holds the flame up to the end of Aki's cigarette to help him light one. The man's life is dangling by a thread, anyway, and it would be a while before any kind of real repercussion of smoking could catch up to him.
"I'm thinking," Makima says pleasantly. "That I'd like to come back to your place, Aki-kun."
She fixes the lapels of his uniform like a doting housewife as she says this, fingers gliding underneath the tie and tautening it, since he can't disgrace the uniform even after a night of revelry. Makima knows Power is indisposed. She made sure to plan out that much by giving the fiend a firm command to stay out of her sight when they were in the womens' restroom earlier. Denji was out with Himeno, likely still fantasizing about their lollipop kiss, which left Aki alone, like a young calf abandoned by the herd, and her the prowling lioness stalking behind it.
"Will you invite me?"

'Oh, lighten up, top-knot.'

From the corner of his eyes, the young man watches the silhouettes of Himeno and Denji fading into the crowd ahead, his expression frozen in time as he contemplates the consequences of the evening. On the one hand, there is the fickle man-child thay goes back and forth between the object of his affection. On the other, there's the woman who still looks as lonely as she did when he first greeted her in that cemetery all those years back. Try as she might, those around her perish, while she stays to mourn them. The broken make mistakes far too often, as he knows all too well. Perhaps that is why he does not intrude as did when he first came across Denji.

Instead, the top-knotted man picks up his cigarette by instinct, having long since trained his muscles to not think when retrieving the cancer sticks. Smoking his first and last cigarette for the millionth last time seems like the best possible course of action before he heads back to his nightly routine. However, Aki is certain that he has not trained his muscle memory well enough to pick up a lighter while still searching for a cigarrette.

And yet, there was a flame lighting up the end of the cancer stick, his sapphire eyes widening ever so slightly as he looks forward and recognizes the form of the redhead through the orange flame. His eyebrows raised, he takes in his first puff, nicotine coursing through his system before he even so much retorted. Makima has given him much to mull over before he even has a chance to start talking, after all.

A small cloud of smoke escaped his lips as he decides to speak to speak. "Invite you to my place." statement, rather than a question. Repeating her words, all while she takes over his usual routine of adjusting himself before he addressed her. Her motions match his perfectly, further adding to his perplexion, bubbling behind a stoic expression he is sure she can read right through.

There are only two statements he can go forward with, here. The order of priorities tells both of them everything they need to know about what is at play. "Would you like to accompany me home, Makima-san?" An acceptance of terms and condition before he even inquires about them. "Is something on your mind?" Aki finally asks, his index and middle finger holding his cigarette, he inhales again, careful enough to not blow a cloud in her face.

The road ahead is straightforward enough, and he knows what he needs to do before she asks. A simple tilt of his head, inviting her to follow him, even though she knows the way already.
