Before the dead started walking

March 2020 - Quarantine just started.
Even the government wasn’t prepared for a new health emergency. The one thing that is sure, every hundred years there is some kind of health emergency. In 1918 it was the Spanish Flu, in the 1700s it was smallpox. The nation was depending on the government to quickly come up with a plan. COVID originated in China, patient zero was in California. So why didn’t it hit China as hard as it did the USA? Gene flow, an anthropological answer to how genes can be spread from one location to another. A Chinese man got on an airplane and since we had never been exposed before it caused a pandemic that would last years.
The CDC worked tirelessly to come up with a vaccine or a way to slow it down. Meanwhile thousands were dying globally. Under the stress of trying to understand a disease we knew nothing about, there would be one dire mistake made in the lab. No one would know about it until the CDC goes down and the last scientist shared the secret before he opted out.
“Everyone is infected.”
How could this be? It is impossible that everyone was exposed, or was it the vaccine that was hastily made? Could COVID-19 mixed with global warming that was uncovering ancient diseases that we have no immunity to? Our own government infected millions of people around the world with the “zombie virus”. How was this activated? We will never know.
After the world went to shit
The Pierce family thought they were immune to everything, until the dead started walking. Trying to be good examples for the rest of the world they were the first to receive the vaccine once it was ready to be released. Living in a gated property right by the ocean. A yacht at their beck and call. Once they realized that the dead were walking they jumped ship. Living on the yacht for weeks until their supplies ran out. They docked on the Georgia coast.
