She loved him, right?

She had to love him.

To be where she was, where she stood, on the precipice of walking down the aisle, Diane had to truly love the man. What did love feel like? One of those falling head over heels type things? How in the hell did someone know when they were in love with someone else?

It was a question Diane had asked herself time and time again in the past few months. Just a tiny, brief, fleeting bubble of a thought that went just as quickly and quietly as it faded away. Slowly it grew. In silence it festered like an infection. A tiny, little thread of a thought that had gradually led to the tangled, knotted mess of emotions and questions that had dominated her mind.

Still the planning went. The countless minutes, hours, and days spent piecing together the puzzle that would be their happily ever after dream wedding. The sort of event that a girl could only imagine when they were younger, when such things were but only fantasies to be wished upon, obsessed over, to be dreamed about.

She should love him. There was a lot to love about Jackson. He was a catch by nearly every standard. The sort of guy that inspired sharp, quiet jealousy in other women. Handsome. Tall. Athletic. Charming. God, could he be charming. Especially with that smile. That million dollar smile that could make any person weak in the knees. Eyes that one could lose themselves in, drowning in those deep dark blue pools that could be so captivating. He was just too damn perfect.

It went beyond the physical. So kind, so generous. So understanding. Who was there when she was down in the dumps? Who was there to lift her spirits and ply on the ice cream, wine, and trashy movies when she needed them the most? Who was there with inspiring little notes and messages tucked away in her coat pocket or work bag when she was uncertain and unmotivated? What more could a person ask for in a spouse?

Even there, she could not help but to admit how perfect he was. From across the party she watched him. Schmoozing with friends and family, distant and close. In his element, as she had often joked with him about. The center of attention, capturing the hearts and attentions of those who had gathered around him. The kind of person that could fit in with any group, that could slide right on in with an ease and comfort that was just enviable.

Where as she…

A soft, restrained sigh escaped her as she looked out across the reception hall, and all of the gathered guests that had arrived. Some had flown thousands of miles to that tiny little island in the sparkling waters of the Aegean sea. His and hers, the coming together of two families to be forged into one. It was almost poetic, as poetic as the beautiful sunset on the horizon.

And yet there she was. Full of doubts and questions as she sipped her champagne and wondered what it was all for.

This was what she wanted. A marriage that was going to be stable, and happy. Had he not made her happy so far? Had their relationship not been stable? It was, perhaps, the most stable relationship she had had. But she could think of another word for stable, one that seemed to blend in far too closely.

Safe. It was a good choice, a good marriage, and a safe one at that. That was something to yearn for, something to be desired. To have a relationship that was safe and comfortable, to know what was coming, to be able to be satisfied in one's little bubble. She knew what she was getting out of Jackson, that was something good, right?

It did not feel good. It did not feel right. No. In the bottom of her heart, it did not feel absolutely right at all, as if just ever so slightly off and ajar, an imperfect lock. No matter how many people fawned over the two of them, told them that they were simply perfect for one another, no matter how many people told her how lucky she was, it was a feeling that she could not shake.

There was something there. If not love, there was something. To marry someone, there had to be at least something deep down to build such a strong connection. A bedrock for which the foundation of their marriage would inevitably be built upon. And yet it felt shaky, rocky, as if an errant wind could topple over all that they had built.

Jackson was the safe bet. He was what many women could ask for in someone to spend their lives with. And even there, as she stood off to the side of the welcome reception, she had to admit there was something there to admire about him. It was nothing but jitters, she tried to tell herself. Nothing that was not normal for anyone in such a position, on the precipice of tying their lives to another. She could learn to love him, right?

God, she hoped so, she thought, as she quietly sipped her drink and tried to calm her frayed nerves.

It wasn't like it had been with Him…

Just the thought of him was enough to make her blush, and take another sip of her champagne. It had been so long ago, years since she had seen Him. And yet, it so often felt like it was only yesterday since she last saw him, last felt him.

The corners of her lips turned into a smirk. Diane could get lost in those thoughts if she allowed herself to. The mental playground of memories that were always there to entertain her. Moments to revisit on those lonely nights at home, the echos of those familiar aches that only he could satisfy. Memories of back when she was a different woman, when she was more free with herself, her heart, without a care in the world for the future and what laid before her. Back then she did not care about anything. Nothing but Him.

She wondered how he was doing. Where he was. What he was up to. She could only imagine the adventures and stories he was weaving on his own. Where was he? What was he doing? Curiosity had gotten the better of her a few times, drunkenly searching high and low online for a trace of him, so very close to dialing the number she knew by heart…

But that was a lifetime ago, she told herself, dead and done, as she was preparing herself for the new chapter in her life, one sip of champagne at a time.

So, if you’re still with me, I’m looking for a sort of BDSM smutty romantic comedy of sorts between a bride-to-be and her former Dominant, set across a few days at a far away resort where she is getting married.

I envisioned there would be a good back and forth between the two of them. Plenty of flashbacks that are hot and steamy. In terms of kink, I am fairly open to just about anything, especially the taboo. Breeding, gangbangs, public, watersports, etc. I want to paint the contrast between then and where she is when she is about to tie the knot to the man she thinks she wants to spend the rest of her life with.

As far as what happens, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Why they broke up. Why he’s there. What’s going to happen. Etc.
