Chris was nervous. He stood outside one of the nicer restaurants waiting for his date, hoping she wouldn't stand him up. His kids had begged him to get back into the dating scene after he lost his wife; instead of coping, Chris opted to bury himself in work. Not healthy, he had discovered. So, he tried. And he connected with a cute little golden named Nora. She was a nurse and she loved helping people and she seemed sweet on him. He reached and played with his salt and pepper hair, frowning softly. He wasn't as young as he used to be, she knew he was older, he just hoped she didn't agree just to be polite to him. He sighed softly, rubbing his snout. This was a bad idea.

Nora pulled up wearing a nice dress, her hair pulled back in a tastefully messy bun. She looked over and waved. "Chris?"

His tail wagged as he hugged back, "Yeah, wow! You look...I'm sorry, you look amazing.." He grinned. He felt so under dressed in hus button up and nice jeans.

He nodded, "I understand. Anyway, our table is waiting." He smiled and offered his arm to her to escort her in.

He stopped to give his name and the host nodded, "Right this way, sir." He smiled and walked off to take them to their table. He stopped them in the more high end area and gave them their menus before leaving.
"Get whatever you want." Chris said gently, "I know, everything is a lot, but it's ok."

He nodded, "I'm good for it." He replied, "Do you want wine or anything? I haven't been here in...a minute..." He gave a wry laugh, "but the wine is good, from what I remember.."

He nodded, and looked up at the waiter when he came by to ask about drinks, "Two glasses of the La Mondotte merlot, please."
"Of course." The cat smiled and walked away.

He was nervous to bring up his ex wife and his children, thinking that maybe she would be turned off by that.
"Um...so...the reason why I said I haven't...been here in a while is...well, I used to take my wife here a lot.." He said, swirling his wine gently, "But, um...she passed...a few years ago..."

He shook his head, "No, it's ok...my sons tell me I need to move on all the time...but I didn't want to not tell you, you know?"

Thank goodness. "That sounded really selfish, I'm sorry...my boys are right, I do need to move on, but it hurts.." He smiled softly and squeezed her hand, "Thank you for humoring an old man like me."

She smiled. "You aren't an old man, you're probably just burnt out..~" she teased as she squeezed his hand.
