It had been three long months since the ship left the mouth of the Nile for the great sea. No one on the ship knew if there was anything to be found at the other end of this vast expanse of water, but Egyptians were curious enough to try. Their ship was the finest shipmakers could create, it had to be because they had no idea how long it would be on the salty water. The crew was made up of the best sailors, some of the most skilled warriors, and great scientists. Among the warriors, there was Leila. Leila was a skilled fighter and archer, with some of the best training in Egypt. She was also the only woman on board, though no one dared touch her without consent because her father was Pharaoh. Albeit she was not a full blood royal, her mother was one of Pharaoh's cousins. She was also one of 50 daughters so one daughter gone missing on some crazy expedition was acceptable. Besides, she could defend herself without her daddy there threatening the death penalty.
Leila sits at the front of the ship on the railing, letting the cool wind blow through her long black hair, her blue eyes watching the horizon. She is about 5 ft tall with a tone, tan body and a C cup chest. She wears a tight, white linen top that cuts off at her belly, and a small white linen skirt designed to give her maximum maneuverability. On her feet she wears Gladiator sandals, liking how they stayed put on her feet unlike regular Egyptian sandals. She also has a bow and several sharp weapons, though she left them inside as she did not expect to use them right now.
The last few days had brought new hope to the crew. They had spotted birds in the air and several small islands. The water around those islands was a gorgeous blue, like lapis lazuli only liquid. At about midday they spotted a long strip of land on the horizon. It looked like nothing they had ever seen before. It was all thick treeline with a small beach they could park their boat at. Leila had never seen so many trees in one place, she did not know this was possible.
At around 3 O'clock they made landfall and quickly got out of the ship to stretch their legs and kiss the earth. They found their legs quite wobbly though. Leila wanted to start exploring right away, seeing plants that she had never seen before, not even from tributes paid by the most exotic of peoples. Leila put on her belt that held her sword and daggers, and her bow and quiver over her shoulder. Despite some of the other warriors saying she should probably wait a bit, she permeated the treeline, not going far into the dense treeline, but far enough that she could watch the land's animal inhabitants. She was hearing sounds that no one from her people had ever heard before, and she wanted to see what was making them. As a precaution, one of the other men accompanied her, not knowing what could come of of this place. For all they knew, Ammet, eater of hearts, could come at them.
