This had to be a nightmare. There was just no other explanation.
She was running, to where she didn't know. The harsh fingers of tree branches clawed at her skin, the pricks of pain going unnoticed, even when trickles of dark liquid ran down her arms. It was nighttime. The moon was high, a full silver disk in the sky that cast an eerie glow onto the forest. Each leaf was applied in the bright metallic color. Shadows jumped out at times, making her scream and try to change directions.
Her heavy breathing echoed in her ears. Inside her chest her heart was pounding, beating against the cage of bone protecting it.
Fangs glinted, eyes flashing red in this world of black and white. She skidded to a halt, panting as she lurched off to the side, hiding behind a tree. It was no use. The creature knew she was there. There was no escape. It was fast and agile, pouncing so that they faced each other again. Fear pierced straight through her, making her body freeze. Twigs crunched under the thing's heavy paws as it came closer. Its muscles rippled with each move. The fur covering its body was a deep russet red, almost a dark chocolate color. That rogue thought caused her stomach to growl. It jumped, claws outstretched towards her face-
Audrey suddenly awoke, the sheets tangling even more around her legs as she fought against her imaginary foe. Sweat was glistening on every inch of her skin. Blue-green eyes wide, she found her mind calming down after a few moments. It's okay…she reassured herself. It was only a dream… A bad dream, but still… She wiped a hand across her forehead, wrinkling her nose at the wetness slicking her palm.
"Time for a shower…" she murmured.
It was a warm September day, the sun just rising over the horizon. Today was the young woman's first day of college. Having moved here just a week ago, she was still with her parents…for now. All scattered about in her room was boxes, filled with things to take to her new rented house. Once they are loaded up into the truck, she was out of here. It wasn't like she didn't love her parents or anything. She was just tired of being babied every minute of every day. There was only so much a girl can take. It really grated her nerves, and at times she would lock herself in her room, refusing to say a word to each parental figure. Luckily that was all going to change. As of today, she was a grown woman, moving to live in a new place with a roommate. Hopefully they'll get to be great friends…
Audrey hummed under her breath as she dried her hair. Dark curly red locks clung to her shoulders, neck and back, sending trails of water down her body. Her skin was pale just like any other redhead's was. The figure the girl naturally possessed was curvaceous yet petite, with all the right proportions for her height of five foot six. When she was done with her hair, she quickly threw on a pair of jeans and a green shirt and headed downstairs. "Mom! Dad! I'm going out now!" she yelled into the kitchen, smiling before grabbing her keys. There was inaudible murmurs of agreement following her words. No doubt about it, they weren't morning people. She wasn't either, but it didn't take long for her to wake up and excited about the day.
The boxes were loaded up into the slightly beaten up 2009 Chevy, and soon she was on the way to the college. Or rather, her new place. Classes didn't start for another week, and so that gave her time to get used to the surrounding area, and to maybe know her roommate a little bit better. All she knew was their name.
((I just wanted someone to randomly jump in and see where this leads...))
