Newbie Orientation - Avatars

Hello, Blue Moon. I'm new here, and understand that there is this gray period where many of the site's features are unavailable. Is this extended to editing avatars as well? When intuitive exploring failed, I tried the advice in this thread, but those options are not coming up as available. Does this site work better on specific browsers? Please advise!

You should be able to click your name(end up on your profile page.) Then scroll to the image which would be the S in yellow box and edit should be visible while hovering over it.

Dunno how it is on celluar device(if you on such.)

Edit: Actually you don't have to go exactly to your profile page, it works there too, but clicking your name will bring up the menu and scrolling over avatar itself box should have edit.
