"It is said that one day a Black Dragon will rise from the depths of hell to bring death and destruction to all those that serve the Golden Order"

Water droplets trickled down from a nearby stalactite. Deep inside of a darkened cave laid a slumbering black dragon. For hundreds of years, he has slumbered inside, sealed away in the ruinous Mountains of Ibosh. A desolate rubble of ruins, once homeland to the Dragons that roosted in great trees and mountaintops. Now abandoned and destroyed over the years. Long ago the dragons stuck to themselves, away from the lesser races. The Gold Dragon Kyshar saw an opportunity to control these lesser races. To manipulate and to control so that the Age of Dragon would never end. His Brother, the Black Dragon, saw differently and contested him on this but was betrayed by his own kin. A one-sided war had raged albeit briefly before the Black Dragon had been sealed away.

Now after several hundred years the magical seals had weakened, and the great beast was beginning to stir.

A puff of smoke rose from flared nostrils as dust and rocks shifted from the scaly body of the Black Dragon. Stirring in one's sleep the eyelids of the beast slowly opened to reveal the yellow reptilian eye as it began to dilate and take in the various small traces of light to begin to see. That was when he had remembered the fight that had happened and how he had gotten here in the first place. Deep in this cavernous hole sealed away into the side of the Mountain. Flames beginning to stir deep in the elongated throat of the dragon, scales heating brightly like burning coals before unleashing a torrent of hellfire in anger. Wings snapping up and lifting the great scaled body off the ground before erupting from the weakened side of the mountain in a mighty roar.

Only to be met with the once proud lands of his people were nothing more than a desert. How much time had passed? His body felt sluggish even in his enraged state, his mind began to process just how long he may have possibly slept.

"Kyshar!" He raged out as his mighty wings shot him high into the air, above the clouds as his eyes began to scan below. Looking for any signs of life. He began to move towards the nearest large gathering of life forms that he could sense off in the distance. A large gathering of humans and dragons alike.

The Bonding Festival was a special occasion between Human Nobility and Dragons. A joyous occasion in which the youngest daughter of the Royal Family, the ruling family of the Kingdom of Cyrell, would finally meet the dragon she will bond with for the rest of her life. Hundreds of years ago, Dragons had arrived to the Humans with gifts of power and opportunity. A chance to form special bonds with these great mystical beings and help them rise to the top of the world. Human Kingdoms prospered and flourished under the tutelage and guidance of the Dragons while they helped crush those that would stand against them or denounce them. A tradition as old as the Kingdom could remember was the Royal Family bonding with Silver or Gold dragons. Because of their Noble Blood no less!

Today was the special day for the youngest Princess. Many have traveled far and wide to see this momentous and joyous event unfold before their eyes. A spectacle was made of it. A tournament of the Kingdoms finest Knights were dueling before the ceremony would begin. The Royal Family perched in their special, safe box inside of the Coliseum of Champions. Steel clashed as Noble names looked for patronage from the Royal Family, hoping for an excellent display in the bouts to come in today's tourney. Many dedicated their fight in the Princesses honor, asking for her blessing so that they may be crowned champion.

Behind the Royal Family was a large Golden Dragon, perched on a Dragon's Roost overwatching the games. The crowd cheered as blood was spilled onto the sand while the hour was drawing close to the bonding ceremony.

Across from the balcony in which the Royal Family sat in, for a brief moment a strong presence was recognizable by the Princess and no one else. Unintended but her eyes would no doubt lock with the
cloaked figure. His eyes meeting with hers only for a moment, but it felt like an eternity. As if linked to her before breaking and disappearing deeper into the cheering crowd behind him.

She had never understood if her name had always been a sign of what her life was to become. Kaida; little dragon. Had they always known that would be her lot in life and named with an almost wry cruelty? Her older brother and sister had been destined for greatness. One on battlefields, to men and eventually to wed a strong nation and make their own stronger with the union. Her sister was truly only destined to marry and bring wealth and power to their name and kingdom, but it was honorable nevertheless. Kaida had never had such hopes pinned on her shoulders. Had it been a blessing?

Looking at what her elder sibling had to deal with she was unsure if she'd trade the pressure and clear favor from her parents for the lack of it and all but ignored position of which she currently held. It mattered not that she tried to and for the most part excelled at whatever she put her mind to. Her studies and sword play.. A princess should not indulge in the latter and the former? No one wanted to wed someone smarter than they. The delicate feminine arts? Needle work, dancing and polite conversation. What need have she of them, her mother had scoffed. No one was looking at her to wed.

When she'd been younger, Kaida had assumed this outlook had been blunt, but meant with kindness. That illusion had long been shattered. She only seemed to matter when they had need or want of her. Otherwise she was tiresome, bothersome and a nuisance. Take the coming event.. Until it had been decided she would join the honorable ranks of the riders, they'd all but ignored her. But now? She was the darling of the house.

ยทรฏยกรทยกรฏยท

Shifting on her seat, Kaida toyed with her braid, the heavy ebony locks tightly woven over her shoulder. Beside her, her sister frowned at her, a hand on her stomach. Beneath her hand, a baby grew and Kaida had been thrilled for her, though she found she wasn't as jealous as she once had been as a child. The frown on her sister's face was easy for her to discern. There had been a row, hours before about the delicate lines that now rested along her brow. Her pale skin was much like her sister and mothers. Creamy alabaster with only the most charming touches of color along her cheeks. Yet she'd marred herself, her mother had raged with the luminous golden tattoo. The linework was delicate and fine.. and similar likes, played along her cheeks, finer there, like a sprinkling of lightening. Who would marry her now? That had been the question posed and it had taken everything to not bitterly laugh. She was not destined to be wed. Was that not the point of the day? She would enter into the service of the Riders and protect the lands from threats, wherever they may come from.

That had once been a sore spot too, but she had given up on being a blushing bride long ago. Smiling sweetly at her sister, she watched as eyes, much like her own, an icy clear blue shifted away from her, a frown pulling at her mouth. Her own mouth stretched into a smile, the crimson of her lips another touch that had been hotly argued about. In the end, her choices had been allowed, for what other choice did they have? They'd never had a chance in getting her into that foolish gown they'd picked, but in the light of the tattoos, it had been the least of the concerns. Rather she'd dawned a pair of black soft leather breeches and a pair of thigh high leather boots. Belts fella cross her hips and thigh harnesses buckled around the supple limb. A corset cinched her slender waist and provided support for her breasts, which were covered in a white cotton shirt. Blue sleeves matched the blue of her cape and the silver bits of hardware and finery were dotted about her body. She was to bond with a dragon, to join the service and while they might have planned for this to be a token role, Kaida refused to allow them to hide her away now.

It would soon start and she was to be the grand opening of the ceremony. Rolling her shoulders some, Kaida felt a tug at her mind. Like an errant thought wanting attention and she let her eyes fall to the crowd. A figure moved between them almost like a ghost with the way that they slipped between the living breathing thing that was the throng of people. Her head tilted and something told her to rise. Not bothering with an excuse, no one was paying attention to her anyway, like usual.. Kaida slipped from the royal box and into the heart of the crowd. It didn't take her long to locate the figure that had piqued her interest. A slender gloved hand reached out, snagging the forearm of what was most certainly a male. Her lips parted as she moved into the man. Why had she grabbed him? Above them the trumpets began to bleat, the sign that the festival was about to start and yet, she wasn't where she was meant to be. No, she'd vanished and no doubt they were cursing her absence. She should go back and yet, she couldn't find it in herself to release the arm she held.

She should say hello or release him. Anything but stare at him, lips half parted, forgetting to breathe.

Moving through the crowd like water. Easing through the masses that gathered to watch the spectacle that was soon going to be put behind him. How was he supposed to get close to his brother will all the guards and dragons that surrounded the coliseum. He had to sneak into the City, landing far outside and transforming into this basic figure that he could muster to look like a human. Stealing a robe from a nearby merchant to cover his body. Hardened black scales spotted various areas of his fleshy pink skin, unable to fully transform into a human just yet. His eyes, still a golden shade with black sclera. Long flowing white hair, horns branching from underneath near the top of his forehead.

Stopping in his tracks as he felt the tug of a hand pull onto his forearm, grabbing onto the sleeve as he turned slowly to face her. The woman that pulsed and drew his eyes to meet with hers just moments before. Now she was right here, tugging on him. Even though fire stirred in his belly, fully of anger and hatred the soft features of the human woman was simmering those flames down to smoke.

Trumpets began to play in the distant background. The tournament was underway and soon a party would be sent to find the Princess whose special day it was. "What are you doing?" He asked her though his simmering words came out gentler and more careful with her.

People continued to simply brush by even though she was standing right here. The honored guest today. The one who was the focus of this gathering, yet the people did not recognize her, and it begged the question in his mind why that was. His eyes flicked from her to the people that brushed and bumped into them. Muttering to get out of the way and move, other obscene words that caused the man to glare before feeling the tug at his arm once more.

"I don't know what this is, but you have the wrong person." He had to keep his identity a secret for now. He was far too weak from centuries of sleeping. He needed to regather his strength and devise a plan to fight his brother alone. Having learned last time that he was incapable of beating his Brother and the others, especially now with how weak he has become.

He also didn't know about this bonding process with humans, or what today was even about. He had kept his distance from humans back in his previous life. Only in this city because honor and a code dictate, he put an end to his brother's scheme of using these lesser mortals for his own whims and desires. Still, he didn't yank his arm away from the grip of Kaida even though he had given a small tug. Yellow eyes flicking from the sights of the crowd back to fixating on the large and innocent eyes of the Princess who held him.

"What are you doing?"

Well that was a damn fine question. What was she doing? The trumpets were a clear sign she wasn't where she was meant to be and though people pushed past the pair, like a rock in an ever moving river, no one paid them much mind beyond cursing them as the brushed past. Their harsh words fell on deft ears as she tried to convince herself to let this stranger go. It was hard to explain why she'd left the comfort of the royal box and sought him out. His voice had been gentle, though surprised at her touch, her boldness. Even as she tried to release his arm still, her fingers refused to let go.

She shook her head. "I.. I can't." Her words stumbled ever so slightly and she frowned. Kaida knew he was a stranger and yet.. even as he gave his arm a small shake, she stepped in closer until she could view his features better. Her face was tipped up towards his own and she gave a small gasp. While he was human-like, he wasn't human. There were scales along his cheeks, beautiful against the paleness of his skin. Her free hand rose of it's own accord, as if to touch his face before she pulled it back, her parted lips exhaling a soft breath. "You're..." Something told her to not say it, the word.. dragon. She was aware they had human forms, she'd met his brother many a times. He'd been distant and ostentatious. She hadn't much cared for him, though he'd ignored her much like everyone else did...

Biting the inside of her cheek she looked toward the end of the path he'd take, if he continued on his current course. It would take him to where the royalty of dragons sat and waited for her to be found. She could see guards scrambling, looking for her and for a moment fear spiked through her and she stepped back into him. "If you challenge them, it will not go well.." She could have been wrong, but the way he'd been moving, the look in his eyes. She shook her head some and swore, a very unladylike sound as she pulled him now, off to one side and into the deeper shadows of a pillar. Some things were falling into place, this feeling she had.. A call like that of the mythical sirens... She'd been told she'd feel it when she found her dragon. He seemed, however, all but unaware of the bond, not that Kaida herself was any sort of expert. She only knew what she'd been told.

She could hear the sound of plate on plate and the heavy fall of boots and she pulled him closer to her, using his body to hide hers from the seeking eyes of the guard searching for her. Kaida would be in a lot of trouble for ruining this, the big day. For embarrassing herself and her family, or that would be the line of bullshit fed to her. "Do.. you feel it too?" Her eyes searched his, speaking only after the heavy footfalls had faded.

Whatever was wrong with this human was disturbing him deep down. How she wouldn't let go of him, gripping onto his arm as if her life was in danger. Another deafening blow of a trumpet as sounds of disgruntled guards and shouts could be heard. Eyes were drawn away from the commotion that was beginning to move towards the pair as the young Princess warned him not to challenge them. Did she know who he was? Who was she and what was she doing. How long has he slept, was his name just whispers now or were they waiting for him to return one day? He had so many questions right now, but he stepped backward as she pulled on his sleeve to drag him into the shadows of the pillar.

Golden yellow eyes darted between the Princess and towards the guards rushing by. "I don't know what you are talking about." He replied with an annoyed tone. Yes, he felt whatever it was. This strange tingling sensation that coursed through his body standing right next to her. An almost primal instinct one could describe it. A bond of sorts but that wasn't supposed to happen with humans. Just dragons. What has his brother done?

"Why did you tell me not to challenge them. Who are you and what do you know?" He turned his full attention back towards her as he grabbed onto her forearm, squeezing a little too hard as he didn't trust her. He didn't trust humans. A race that was capable of anything in this world and were like parasites. Vermin that continuously spread across the land. It was dangerous to teach them magic and the power of dragons, yet his brother discarded his advice years ago and from his short flight he believes he was right. Humans have expanded and evolved even more than they were before his slumber.

"What year are we in?" He asked next, not giving her a moment to answer his first question as he peered his eyes down into hers. Glaring down into them, searching for his answers. Looking to see if she was lying.

She'd not known who he was, other than he was a dragon and his intent had been to make it to the platform where others of his kind sat, waiting for the events to begin. His name had long been forgotten and had he told her, she would have merely stared at him blankly. What she knew was there was something there and she couldn't let him kill himself. It wasn't that she doubted him, but with so many of his kind on the rise, he'd die one way or another... He allowed her to drag him into the shadows, just in time as guards went rushing by. A shaky breath left her and she frowned up at him. Her lovely blue eyes narrowed, she said, "Liar." There was a slight tone to that word, an accusation. It didn't occur to her that he didn't know what that bond was, though it did sting that the key to her freedom was no different than her own family.

"Because you'd not live to see tomorrow.." Her voice now held something else.. hurt. Squaring her shoulders she met his eyes as his hands grabbed onto her forearms. Hissing in pain, she didn't try and shake him off as her chin lifted. "I am Kaida, youngest daughter of King Barathron. As to what I know, I know what you are..." She knew very little else. His name or his reason for being here eluded her. She blinked and tilted her head. "The year is 426, within the golden era." Now she seemed confused as she looked up at him, her brows drawing together. It was odd to ask her the year, though anything else she might have said was silenced by another set of running boots and now her name being called, clearly.

Shrinking further into the dark Kaida peered around him.
"I am late... I am to bond with a dragon." She glanced back up at him. "And you claim to know nothing about it, so I must be mistaken." She knew she wasn't, but if he refused her... Her eyes left his face and she looked down. "Then I must find another. It is expected I will bond with a gold.." She moved to pull away from him now, trying to not let that hurt and that hollowness fill her as she moved into the open once more. Her eyes rose to the platform and it would only take them moments to find her. "I would still advise you not pick a losing battle. Though if you'd prefer death..." Was death preferable to bonding with her? That hurt far more than she cared to admit. He was a stranger to her and perhaps she was mistaken. Either way to allow a complete stranger to hurt her in such an inmate way... She tugged at her arm. "Let me go," that soft, hurt voice lingering.

His eyes would squint down to her when she called him out for lying about not feeling this connection. Almost like there was pain to her voice, as if she wanted whatever this feeling was between the two of them to blossom into something. Something he didn't know, and he didn't want to. His life mission has always been to avoid humans and not to have his kind interact with them for any reason. They were greedy, hungry, dangerous creatures that knew no moral ground and would be the end of dragon kind as he knew it, but his brother would not listen. Now he was here in the heart of a human kingdom and he up there, surrounded by peasants that fanned his form as if he was some sort of divine being. If only they knew just how mortal a dragon truly was.

"You know what--" He paused for a moment as she had spoken the year and fell silent. Seething with suppressed rage that boiled just beneath the skin. It felt like his whole body was tensing up as she tried to pull away from him now. The words bonding with a dragon had no meaning to him and she droned on, but it was beginning to fall on deaf ears as his blood boiled and all he could hear was white noise before finally being snapped from his trance. Her body tugging, her hand touching his to try and pry him free.

"You are not lying to me are you. You are telling me I have been asleep for more than three hundred years?" He pulled on her arm with taut muscle, dragging her closer to his chest as he towered over her. Golden orbs peering down with intense focus as if searching for any lie that may be picked up from facial cues and features. Yet none were to be seen as features softened into melancholy. "This isn't possible..." He spoke in disbelief and let go of her arm finally. Letting the realization that his brother had reigned free for three hundred years and the humans had not betrayed him yet. Had not stabbed him in the back and killed his kin out of greed. Was he wrong about humans or had he underestimated his brother's schemes and plans? Perhaps it was both, but he wouldn't know the answers until he spoke to his brother once more. The rage of being sealed and betrayed still burned deep within and would not be forgiven no matter the excuses his brother may spout.

Turning his attention towards Kaida with focus once more. He still had questions to ask.

"This bonding you speak of. What is it. What do you mean you are to bond with one of my kind?"

While she couldn't sense his feelings, it was easy to tell that he wanted nothing to do with her and this bond that she was speaking of. That hurt and while Kaida wished she could hide that hurt, it had never been something she was good at. It was good that she'd never be involved with the political dance that her elder siblings were so adept at. She'd have failed miserably. When he'd asked her the year, she'd told him, that hurt barely concealed in her voice. Perhaps there was more than one... She'd never heard of it, but that didn't mean it couldn't happen right? Or was it her luck to be unwanted by both her family and her fated dragon? Cruel irony, if that was the case.

His body had begun to go rigid as she spoke about the bond, trying in vain to explain this bond. The one she knew he felt and denied. It was the way he held onto her that made her try and pull away, his grip almost painful. It seemed as if he snapped back into place for a moment mentally as he asked if she was lying to him. She blinked up at him, confusion on her face. He pulled her closed and she bit back a wince of pain. She would have a bruise of his hand before the night came... "Why would I lie?" three hundred years? Quickly running through her history, she found the reason he didn't seem to know about the bond. At least that was explained. As he released her she took a step back, rubbing her arm. "I'm sorry." She hadn't be at fault for what happened to him, but she couldn't help but apologize, that sort of sadness making her own heart ache in response.

His focus once more came to her and Kaida gave a small nod. "The royals and some noble houses are given the privilege of bonding with dragons. It extends our short lives, gives us power and the dragons help us avoid wars.. Have advanced our civilization.. We no longer hunt your kind. There is.. peace." She was still rubbing her arm absently as she continued. "Once bound to a human, if we die, you die. I am not sure why... Often the riders die as well. The shock of losing their other half, is not often survivable." There was another wave of guards coming and Kaida looked up at him, sorrow in her eyes. "Though you claim that you don't feel the bond. I must try and see if I can bond with another. I know my parents and Kyshar expect me to bond with his son.." That had never appealed to her, for she had no love for the elder dragon and she doubted his son would be much different.

Or.. was she looking for an escape that didn't exist? Her eyes searched his face for a moment longer before she moved to step past him. Ready to be found, escorted back to the top box. "Sorry for the confusion on my part.." Stepping past him she turned toward the guards heading her way. Spotting her they picked up the pace. "Your highness! You parents are worried sick!" One grabbed her arm roughly and she bit back a wince as he began to drag her away from him.

To deceive him would be foolish. He felt no indication that she was lying to him about the nature of these bonds and as it dawned upon him. He had felt this tug. This desire around her presence now that they had drawn close after initial contact. Perhaps a bond had already been formed and she would be unable to form with another now but that wasn't his concern. Nor his care for that matter. It was that she mentioned if a human died then a dragon could die and that boiled his blood. Deep down underneath his cracking features he was boiling with anger to hear that such a bond was allowed to be formed with humans and that it may have just happened to him. His brother and his nefarious schemes to control the humans would one day reap what they have sown but now it was possible he had found himself in this position that he desperately sought to avoid hundreds of years ago.

Metal clang of plated boots on cobbled stone came approaching as Kadia revealed herself to the royal guard who began to chastise her about her safety. He wasn't going to let her get away. Not if this bond had been formed. He still had more questions. More pressing matters that made his heart beat harder.

Anger was something he always had an issue within his early dragon years. His Father warned him that he would make brash decisions and rush headfirst into problems that could be dealt with other avenues. He was right in that fact, about the Black Dragon who challenged his own brother. Betrayed by his own kin who sided with Kyshar.

Anger won again this time.

Stepping out from the shadows he reached out and grabbed the pauldron of one of the guards that were around the Princess. "Get your hand off--" Was all the man could muster before the cries of agony wrang from his mouth. He was starting to burn inside of his metal armor before being tossed to the side. Quickly they surrounded the Princess with weapons drawn, ready to protect from their assailant.

"I have more questions for you, Kadia daughter of King Barathorn." Magical in nature. The use of spellcasting was second nature to a dragon as he conjured up a spell that sent the guards flying away. One hit the ground. His chestplate was crushed and blood trickled from his mouth. His lifeless body laying still as the crowd of bystanders erupted in screams and panic. Beginning to run and cause a mass commotion that made it harder for more guards to wade through the crowd. Another member of her retinue was violently shocked by a bolt of lightning, cooked inside of his armor as he limped to the ground and that just left the princess alone with the dragon in the confusion and rushing bystanders.

Stepping forward before she could run -- if she even tried to run. He grabbed her before a black smoke enveloped the pair. The rush of wind piercing her ears as a strong breeze blasted over and as the smoke dissipated, she was soaring high above her city. Riding the back of the Black Dragon that had just swooped her away from her family and home. Flying fast in the direction of the barren dragon lands, away from the human kingdom in hopes that they would not be pursued.

Kyshar had seen the Black Dragon take flight once more but away from his perch. Knowing the dangers of his brother awakened from a long slumber. He did not send pursuers but instead continued the search for the Princess not knowing what may have happened. Never expecting his brother to work or take a human.

ยทรฏยกรทยกรฏยท
They had been flying for the next two hours by the time he had decided to land in a forest down below. Bringing himself down to a nearby river that led to a soft trickling waterfall and an open clearing where he could safely land without trees being in the way. Letting her dismount he transformed back into his crass human form, still unable to perfectly shapeshift and blend in.

"My name is Soroxx." Adjusting the robes around his body he found a tree stump to take a seat on as he stared Kadia down. "Kyshar is my brother. As I have said. I've been asleep for the past three hundred years before.... dragons had begun to work with your kind. I opposed the idea. Your people are vast in nature and difference. You expand. Kill and take what you feel belongs to you and imbalance the worlds nature balance. I campaigned to leave your people primitive, and away from the dragons but my brother wished to rule your people instead." His chest raised as he took a large inhale of air before a steamy smoke exhumed from his nostrils as he exhaled.

"It looks like he got what he wanted, and I have taken you because of this... bond. Has it already been formed between the two of us?" Soroxx was looking after himself. First and foremost. It never trusted humans before and just because he wasn't killing Kadia on the spot didn't mean he trusted her. If they were bound together. Then killing her would kill him.

"I had felt something the moment we first saw each other on the opposite sides of the coliseum. It only grew stronger the closer you got."

Of course, she was a human. She could lie and say it was already made and then he would have to make the decision to see if she was lying or not. A costly decision.

He had not thought anything through. If they were bound. What would he do after the fact. Continue on with his plan anyways? If they were not, then his goal of killing his brother and trying to bring his kin back into line would be next.

Lying to him had never been considered. It wasn't that she was above such things, humans feel into the easy lure of such tactics easily. The truth was she had no reason to lie to him. There was some uncertainty on her part anyway about the pull she felt. While Kaida was almost positive there was no way for her to know. This was just as new to her as it was to him. She'd had some instruction, to allow her to choose correctly. It made her wonder why the assumption had been made as to whom she'd bond... She allowed that thought to escape as she stepped away from him. She'd been taken into custody, the guards flanking her, to ensure that she'd not escape again.. Not to mention the strong hand that had latched on her upper arm. They cared not that she was the princess, no doubt the marks they left wouldn't even be punished as they began to lead/drag her towards the royal box.

She felt the one guard pause, start to speak before he cried out. Kaida's eyes widened as she turned toward the sound, watching the male on the floor. She could smell the scent of burning flesh, hair and it made her stomach roll with unease. The others acted instantly, moving to protect her. "No, don't" she tried to warn them, tried to save their lives... Tried to get him to stop. While a bruise would be forgiven, a permanent injury would not. None of them listened to her, her own anger rising over her revulsion and fear. She could hear him speak, though seeing him had become harder.

"I have more questions for you, Kadia daughter of King Barathorn."

it was as if wind buffeted their bodies, though.. away from her. She watched as bodies exploded away from her, though no sound or fire could be seen or heard. she watched their bodies rise in slow motion and then fall back to the ground where they hit hard. The breastplate of the one closest to her was crushed, as if a hand and pushed him out. Kaida looked on in horror as the ruby of his life blood leaked from his mouth. Another guard, not fatally wounded, tried to run, only to have a bolt of lightning thrown at his retreating back. The sizzle of metal and electricity singed her nose. A cry left her lips, the horror bubbling forth audibly.

When he turned toward her, there was a thought to run, but as if he anticipated it, he grabbed her and the pair vanished into darkness for a moment. This was much more magical than the cooking of the guard.. Airborne above her city she clung to him.

ยทรฏยกรทยกรฏยท

Hours had passed and she was carried off by him. Wind whipping at her face the chill eating along her skin. Her core was warmed by the fire the lingered in his belly.. When he landed Kaida scrambled off his back and backed away from him. She didn't think he'd allow her to flee, but she put distance between herself and him, trembling. As he sat, he gave her his name. Soroxx.

He told of his history, of things she'd never learned in school or from her family. To say it shocked her would have been an understatement. The knowledge he gave had been lost or at least never shared. Her back to the tree she'd escaped to she was leaning against it for support when he questioned her. Looking up at him her brows furrowed and she gave a small shrug. His brutality had shocked her and his anger frightened her.

"Honestly, I don't know." slowly she lowered herself to sit at the base of the tree, tucking her legs to her chest. "I am not all knowing, this.. is as new to me as it is to you. I was.. told a bit about the bond, but it was more.. 'When it happens you will know.'" Her hands wrapped around her knees and she laid her head on them, looking away from him. "I felt something too, but that is all I can say." She wanted to cry, for more than his own rejection.
