Brianna glared at the note pasted to the front door, it was just like mom to pull a stunt like this. It wasnât like her marrying Richard was bad enough, oh no, now they had to go off on a cruise. Wasnât that some kind of child abandonment? Sure, she liked the idea of having all sorts of freedoms but reallyâ¦did they have to leave after a month of moving in together? She didnât even like her newâ¦sister. The word left a semi-bitter taste on her tongue. Brianna had been quite happy being a single child, but her mom decided that she needed a father figure all of a sudden and bam! She had a new sister and a dad.
Joy.
She was spoiled, she could admit that. She didnât like the idea of sharing her room, which she now had to. Kristina was probably great in her own right, but Brianna saw her as a intruder. Because of the new family, they had to move to a new house to fit all of them and had to go to a new school. Her eyes widen and she cursed, âDamnit Mom! You knew that the counselor wanted to see you and Richard.â
Now she and Kristina would have to go to the school therapist and talk about how they felt about moving and their ânewâ parents. She couldnât wait. She grabbed the note from the door and unlocked it before walking in. She didnât know if Kristina was home, and decided that now was the time for a bath. She went into theirâherâbedroom and pulled out some of her âat home clothesâ before laying them on the bed. Brianna went into the bathroom and closed the door behind her before starting to run the water. She glanced at the mirror and frowned at the slightly dark circles under her eyes which clashed with her freckles and red hair. She was short, only about 5'5" and curvy and she knew it. She used it to her advantage when she had to, but really, she would have preferred to be flat as a board.
Maybe tomorrow would be better? She hoped so, but then she would have to budget their money, go grocery shopping and take care of her little âsisterâ. There were only a few days between their ages for godâs sake! Some days, she really hated her motherâ¦
