I was hoping to meet a few new playing partners, and like some of you out there, I'm a Discord player more than anything else. I like the back and forth nature of it, and the chance to have other discussions as we might want or need to. Anyway, here's my main idea, and a couple of others like my title said. If you like them or want to talk more about them, DM me here or hit me up on Discord. I have other posts on here too, so go ahead and check out my other content. I'll talk about most any of it still, so yeah: I'll look forward to talking to you!
Hollywood Comes to Town: I got this idea thinking about the show Ozark. I'm not looking for a fanfic kind of thing (sorry, it's just not my style), but more of a setting around the concept. I think a lot of it is shot in small towns, so the concept would be for this one, that a new show is launching that is going to be set and shot in a small town. I think we could go a lot of directions here. Pairings like a director or producer who "discovers" a local girl (or two, or three), or maybe he just uses the promises of stardom to do what he wants with some of them. Turning the celeb concept on its head and having you play the male star in town who picks up the single and/or married women around town that he can handle, that would interest me. The female star of the show starting a thing with a local guy, or being hit on by a few, I could do too, but I don't know if I would be as interested as some of these other things. A location scout or a cameraman who meets a local business owner or two while doing some work is another appealing option to me. Really, I'm open to a lot of concepts here, as far as what the show might be and who we might pair with one another. Tell me what you're thinking about, and I would love to discuss more about this one.
The Pariah: I think this one would be set in a high school or college setting, but I will tell you: I don't really dig high school aged guys, and I don't like playing too young either. The concept would be simple in a way: I would play a girl who's kind of become the social pariah around campus. Maybe she came out on the wrong side of a bad breakup with a popular guy, maybe she made an accusation against someone and he was found not guilty in the end (wrongly so or not), or maybe she just stood up for some principle that puts her on the really unpopular side of things in a one-sided kind of town. Whatever it is, she's feeling alone and perhaps a bit vulnerable. Who might be willing to sweep in and boost her confidence again? I could see a new guy in town, a friend, a teacher/professor, or something to that effect. Tell me what you think here, too, and I'll enjoy discussing it.
Out for a While: This play would be about a 'temporary' romance of sorts, and cheating. Either side of the play could do the cheating here, but one half of a married/engaged couple leaves town for a few months, up to a year. It could be a job training, a high-level internship, even a year of graduate school or a one-year deal far away. While they're gone (and with or without permission), maybe they want that spark and that feeling of a new relationship: the butterflies in the stomach, the feel of someone new against them, the chance to be romanced again, whatever it is. I think it would be interesting to explore the complicated feelings someone might have that may or may not be expected, along with salvaging and managing the relationship back home with the significant other. How will a woman's husband feel once he knows that she met a new guy, for instance, or how would a man hide from his wife that his new girlfriend is in his place every night? Let's discuss it.
Thank you so much for reading! I hope you liked it, and I hope to hear from you soon!
