I'm back from a 2yr hiatus that had a lot to do with anxiety vs the pitfalls of online RP with strangers. I haven't stopped writing, but the itch to actually interact with another creative person as part of writing has really come back.
I've been roleplaying on and off for a really long time. I don't talk about personal life stuff unless we've been interacting for a while and are developing an actual friend-vibe. I also don't engage in any fliting or smut with partners.
What I Play: I play a variety of masc(ish) guys, from naive hot-nerd college boys to evil vampire CEOs. I play romance, smut, and engaging plots in whatever mix we agree on. I very much lean towards scifi and urban fantasy, but I've expanded into post-apocalyptic and (fantasy) historical in recent years. I won't agree to playing only top/dom/aggressor/etc, but I am happy to play one if we double up. I also am fine playing consistent secondary characters to drive the plot along, and I expect you will, too.
Length/Frequency: I can reply at least several times a week, multiple times in a day depending on the day's circumstances. My sweet spot response on is two paragraphs. I don't like juggling 6 overlapping topics of conversation and multiple actions per post. It doesn't feel natural and becomes a chore/checklist and causality gets messed up when someone goes too far ahead making assumptions about what MC will do. I'm fine receiving a good-quality single paragraph. I can write a lot when setting a scene or if the situation predisposes a long response. I know my anxiety gets going if I feel like a partner is checking my word count. I'll never do less than 3 actionable sentences, and that will be rare, probably dialog in a witty back-and-forth.
Faceclaims: Nowadays, for my own writing, I spend an absurd amount of time refining AI-generated characters. I'm also a designer/artist, and I find it to be a rich accompaniment to my story-writing creativity. I'm fine with you using photos, and I can use photos too if you're weird about AI. I can accept non-anime artwork. As a former Patreon/freelance character artist, I don't love unpaid artwork being used.. but I can accept it.
Worldbuilding: This is half the fun for me (example). I don't do fandom characters, but I can do new characters in an existing IP. Otherwise, I really love worldbuilding and brainstorming plot. (Though, if that world doesn't get played out, it will be stuck churning in my mind for years, and I'd like to be allowed to avoid that.)
Kinks: My favs are coercion, corruption, power imbalance, public, obligation, toys, sex workers
Genres: My top genres are scifi, urban fantasy (World of Darkness!), high fantasy (D&Desque), cyberpunk-ish, reality show/competition/risk, and I've developed a newer interest post-apocalyptic and horror (more ranging to cosmic and dark folklore).
