For centuries, the world has been divided within itself, only one half having knowledge of the other. Magic hides in the shadows… only to be spoken of as fantasy or fiction. Very few actually know that witches and wizards are real… or that there are schools for the young concealed under cloaking spells…

Having been established during the 10th Century, Hogwarts is considered to be the finest magical institution, the students divided into four houses… but let's wait to get to that, shall we? Hogwarts' School consists of the large Hogwarts Castle with extensive grounds. There are sloping lawns, flowers, vegetable patches, as well as the infamous Black Lake and the equally infamous Forbidden Forest (don't dare trek here, unless you keep company with the Groundskeeper). Several greenhouses are used for Herbology. A full-sized Quidditch Pitch is within walking distance. A castle tower holds the owlery, where your owl may stay.

Hogwarts is set upon huge rocks above the Black Lake, so do be careful of your step. The three highest towers are the Astronomy, Gryffindor, and Ravenclaw Towers… but you will know more of that later on. You must watch the staircases, however, since they are known to change position. Some rooms like to do so as well.

Term begins on September 1st. Students arrive aboard the Hogwarts Express, which leaves Platform 9 ¾ promptly at 11 AM. Do not be late.

I actually plan on this taking place several years after Harry Potter and Voldemort. Witches and wizards have caught up to the times, per se. Robes are still part of the school uniform, but now after numerous experiments, they have discovered a way for technology to work within Hogwarts' walls.

Hm... Honestly, I was thinking that with the progression of spells erected to protect Hogwarts, and because of evolution, students that are accepted will be older. I'm open to suggestions, but I was considering making first years thirteen.

I was just trying to have Hogwarts catch up with the times a little. I can foresee the students having difficulties with things now and then. And excellent! I'll go ahead and start setting up a thread for our characters.

I like rps with magic. Was set uptown do a rp with a character from HP, but my partner backed out. This looks interesting.

At one point in my teens I thought Harry Potter was a pretty lame series but some years ago a girlfriend of mine sat me down to watch the entire movie series over the course of a single weekend and by the end of The Prisoner of Azkaban I was actually hooked and have since watched the movies several times and read the books. What I am trying to say is that I would be interested in playing an original character within that world. I'll think about it for a little while and post a character profile soon.

I'm possibly down. In addition to kckolbe's question, should we try and choose similar roles? Might be hard for a teacher or a first year to have much meaningful interaction if everyone else is 17-18, you know?

I'd like it if, depending on how many people join this, that everyone posts once a week. I understand life gets in the way sometimes, but it'd be nice. I might make it where we have an order as to who posts.

To answer your question, Red Day, I see no reason why not. It'd be cool to have more teachers to flesh out the roster, but do we need to change the ages?

Question: As I explained in my earlier post I have only recently got into the world of Harry Potter and am far from close to any sort of expertise on the subject so please bear with me if this question somehow sounds stupid.

When I set out to start creating my character it just so happened that they had recently shown the two Fantastic Beasts movies on tv and I thought to myself, now wouldn't that be cool a great granddaughter of Newt Scamander so I set about it until I found through my online research that his grandson married the wonderful Luna and had two sons. So my question would be whether it is known if Newt Scamander had more than one grandson or if Rolf was the only one?

So you would want to be the younger sister of Rolf? Or just another Scamander? Because his children aren't known, so Newt could have had multiple children and you be a cousin of Rolf's instead of sibling. I'm fine with it either way, though, as his family tree isn't really fleshed out

I think it's safe to take or leave anything that isn't explicitly from the first seven books. A lot of it gets questionable lol. I doubt anyone would mind a little bending of the canon for another Scamander in the world.

I think I’ll throw my hat in, if this is still open. Any objections to me making two characters? A student and a teacher?

I don't mind people playing more then one character, prefer it to be honest, makes the world feel more alive.
