Question Banned?

I was looking through my PM threads and one of my partner's icon has changed to BANNED and their status is BANISHED.
I was just wondering why this would happen.

Could it have been inactivity or rule infringements?

I'm just curious because I haven't came across anyone getting banned before.

Over account, limit is the reason given. Why would anyone want more than 5 accounts? My mind boggles lol
