It's hard to justify that sort of anger when all of it just vanishes the moment they come in
contact with each other. They make each other crave that taboo romance.

To his coworkers, he is an upstanding and reliable man - a paragon of everything the justice system stands for. He is openly warm and empathetic to victims while being cutthroat and efficient with criminals... but there is one side that he has slyly managed to conceal. His near hundred percent success rate is stained in brutal methodologies. Torture, manipulation, blackmail... there is nothing that he would not be willing to do if it ensured that the vile criminals he despised so much were brought to justice.
One of the cases that landed on his desk was an especially heinous case regarding a young woman, YC, whose family/friends/etc. had been slaughtered. Though evidence points to a particular man, he is far too affluent and wealthy to truly end up paying for his crimes. Thus, MC makes a deal with YC. So long as she can keep his double life secret he is willing to help her out. Though MC is an effective homicide investigator, by night? He is a serial killer. Years later, YC is a high profile woman who has recently moved to the city for various reasons. Though she is guarded around the clock by an extensive security staff, she can never be too careful and is forced to remain at her residence during all hours of the day.

Waiting until she is isolated, assailants end up attacking her in an attempt to kidnap her just to unexpectedly be stopped by a... flower shop owner? The assailants attempt to forge on just to end up brutally beaten down by him. It's there that MC's identity as the infamous gangster is outed. Rather than being dead, he is peacefully pursuing his life and hobbies in a quiet corner of the city. Grateful, YC attempts to reward MC but he declines anything and goes on his way. Unfortunately for her, the danger only seems to grow greater and higher and she is forced to ask him to consider being her bodyguard. Due to genetic engineering and vat growing technologies, the ideal partner can simply be 'created' for someone - effectively made to be the utter peak of beauty. These partners are expendable and treated as nothing more than livestock, groomed from an early age to be loyal servants until they are finally of legal age to be purchased. Those that exhibit aggressive tendencies are simply killed and scrapped. MC is a researcher that was pivotal to the creation of this market, a brilliant scientist that disregarded his morals for the sake of advancement.
YC is the exact type of vat-grown human that is 'scrapped' at the end of her development. Stubborn and crass, she is far too feisty to ever give into the notion of being someone's eye candy. As such, her bar code is marked to have her be destroyed. The one overseeing her destruction is MC who, up until that point, viewed the vat grown humans as nothing more than cattle. In the short exchange leading up to her being decommissioned, he is convinced to allow her to remain alongside himself. This is a reality where those that the humans considered monsters saw the humans as monsters themselves and mercilessly hunted them into near extinction. Those that specialize in slaughtering humans are referred to as 'Poachers' by the humans. YC is one of the few remaining humans that live tucked away in fear at a hidden settlement. Though they've managed to live seemingly out of notice of the monsters, one day YC returns back to her home to find that everyone aside from herself has been killed.
Whatever her reaction is, either giving up due to the futility of it all or angrily taking it all out on MC - it is inevitable that she will be eliminated by the poacher that killed everyone else she knew. Rather than killing her outright, MC steals her away and hides her from the other monsters. Bitter as she might be towards him, she complies. Later on, he reveals that he had begun to regret the human extermination midway through their genocide and was doing his best to protect the remaining ones... but her village in particular was already marked and was going to be swarmed by poachers. The only choice was to destroy many in order to save a few. While my leads could alternate from hopeless sweethearts to cold, cutthroat serial killers to confident, cocky assholes - the vast majority of my (main) leads tend to lean to be fairly masculine and settle into leading roles fairly smoothly. That being said, I tend to write quite a few sides so I might break this mold pretty much on the fly if I feel it would benefit the story.
Similarly, I am looking for a partner who settles comfortably against leading roles. I tend to think more in character dynamics than specific appearances - I want a couple or a match that feels fun and exciting with their every little interaction with one another. Male, female, or anyone else is more than welcome to send interest messages. I tend to also favor romance quite a bit, either grittier and dark or softer and sweeter so most of my plots will have that sort of undertone on them.
For this thread, my preference is split between genuinely terrible, villainous men and more jaded detective-types with a good heart who just need some warming up to their leads. You can read more on the plots below, though!

Solving crimes is a race against time. Once someone is harmed, once the killer gets away, once the evidence is hidden - it turns into an all out war against detectives and villains. MC & YC run a supernatural detective agency with their two given abilities - MC has the ability to turn back time exactly once through his ability. Upon seeing any image, he is able to step into it alongside his partner - YC, potentially deviating the timeline and preventing the crime from occurring in the first place. YC, on the other hand, has their own ability that assists with investigations. (You can have this be whatever you would like)
The story would mostly go over the two characters investigating and preventing crime. I'm looking for some wittier sort of pairing here in an episodic sort of roleplay - some successes, some failures, and all the range and depth of emotions that come with it. I am imagining MC to be the more experienced one with YC being a recent newcomer not yet fully exposed to the more grotesque and vivid nature of some crimes MC has been seasoned to endure.

Something tragic and warped happened to YC. Perhaps their family, perhaps their lover - someone that was torn right out from their hands. A brutal murder that left them completely and utterly broken on the inside. With everything taken, something was given to them. Not something they would ever consider a gift, but they were able to commune with the dead. For every lingering dead, they are able to communicate with them vividly - with the drawback that the noise is constant. Everyone wants to be heard. Everyone wants to talk. Everyone wants to have a piece of them.
The 'gift' very quickly becomes a curse of overwhelming dead begging for the slightest opportunity to speak to them. Panicked and overwhelmed, YC burns out very quickly just to find themselves in the police station where she filed the report of the murder. Over there? Everything is completely silent... and the reason becomes clear. The warm, kind police officer (MC) that had handled their case terrifies the spirits and the ghosts, to the point that they flee from him on sight.
This story could go in multiple ways, MC having an alter ego or the spirits themselves being malevolent/criminals that are naturally repulsed by MC. I like the duality of YC only finding peace around MC only to be reminded of what happened to them in the same moment. A story about recovery and closure would be fantastic here.

Evil never rests. There is always a new incident occurring. A new crime being commit. Seemingly sporadically, the city seems to erupt in crime sprees like a set of cascading volcanos all erupting at once. YC is some sort of private investigator or journalist that follows the chains - trying to link them down to some specific group, cult, or some phenomenon that would make some sort of sense... and all of that only seems to bring them to one person. MC. A mysterious figure shrouded in the shadows of the city that seemingly appears to be near the heart of every big crime and incident.
MC has a talent of bringing out the utter worst in a person. Every carnal desire, every sin they want to commit, all it takes is a few words and a few resources to make them snap like a twig. YC wants to report on him or possibly bring him to justice but... slowly that corruptive effect starts to take over them as well and it turns into a sinful little battle to bring him to justice or be swallowed up in that wave of depravity that overtakes everyone who interacts with him.
