Love is a friend who no longer has a seat at my table
She is a familiar face that I smile at as we pass,
Her perfume smells like memories, of smiles and stories.
When I see her, we both play the same game of niceties
"Hello, how are you?"
But somehow no words are ever actually exchanged at all.

Love is the most painful face I've seen become a stranger,
A voice whom I no longer recognize when she says my name
She is a form in the crowd that doesn't quite spark the memories she lives in.
She is no longer the jump in my heart
No longer the smile that lingers as we drift to sleep

Love has changed so much since we parted at my union with Good Enough
She stood back despite everything in her,
Because maybe even Love hoped Good Enough was good enough
She hoped as I did that a spark was really a flame
That almosts and maybes were satisfactory

Love became a stranger whose name I dared not say
I found new ways of speaking of her
Riddles and nuances, singing my way around her name
"Have you eaten today?"
"Drive safe"
"Remember to drink water"
She never knew she became a Voldemort on my lips

Love, somehow, still lingered.
I closed my eyes and her eyes haunted my dreams
Despite never being in my bed, I smell her in my sheets
I reach for her and feel her ghost linger
I hear her voice, feel her warmth against my skin

And Love, even as a stranger I still know you.
If your perfume were a drink, I'd be drunk.
I hang on every word you have said
I stumble when we meet and fumble my words
You entangle me time and time again

Hello, Love.
How are you?
You planted seeds in my bones.
But you haven't appreciated your flowers
Hello, Love.
How are you?

Love, you took the best parts of me with you.
Has enough time passed that I can have them back?
